Heavyweight bout in Faulkner County

Brummett chats with Religious Right Republican Sen. Gilbert Baker about his coming contest with Democrat Joe White in the fall.

Do we see Baker's attack taking shape? The challenge is coming, he suggests, from "Little Rock Democrats." This might surprise long-time Conway businesman White.

Why didn't Baker just complete the thought and call his opponents "Nancy Pelosi-style Democrats." I guess in Baker's mind, Little Rock is just about as unholy as San Francisco. Makes you wonder why a guy would raise a quarter-million-dollars for the right to come down here so often.

How in the hell will one candidate spend $250K in Faulkner County? Do they get to keep $ what remain?

Little Rock Democrats??? Hmmm. Does that imply [liberal, black] L.R. Democrats?

$250K for a position that pays what...$14K/year...must be that 'new' math.

Baker has been a Senator for 4 sessions. Won't he be term-limited OUT fairly soon? And it's not just "LR Democrats" who oppose him. I've lived in Faulkner County (more or less) since 1989 and I can't wait for him to leave.

Joe White could counter that Baker is backed by Batesville and Bigelow Democrats.

Joe White needs to spend some money on a professional web site. Baker's site isn't great but at least it doesn't look like a kid put it together. It appears Baker also used a local company while White used an out of state company.
