Huckabee: fire from the right
Mike Huckabee governed as a big government Republican (and that's not criticism.) But it continues to rankle committed movement conservatives who hate "activist government." Columnist here thinks his continued defense of providing necessary services harmed his candidacy this year and could kill it in 2012.
This columns spins off a Huffington Post interview with Huckabee in which he described libertarians as more of a threat to the Republican Party than liberals. As you might guess, the Libertarian Party has something to say about that.
LIBERTARIAN PARTY NEWS RELEASE
In a recent interview with Huffington Post contributor Will Mari, former GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee called libertarianism "not an American message," stating libertarianism was a "soulless type of economic conservatism" and a threat to Republicanism. In response, Libertarian Party spokesperson Andrew Davis issued the following statement:
"Huckabee is right that Libertarianism is a threat to Republicanism. The Republican Party, with the help of people like Sen. John McCain, has done nothing but increase the scope and power of government while throwing fiscal responsibility to the wind. It's the 'compassionate conservatism' touted by people like Huckabee, McCain and President Bush that has caused a soaring national debt and a society where prisons are overflowing because of Republican 'compassion.' Libertarianism is unquestionably the American message because libertarianism is the only political message that empowers the American people by giving them more control over their lives and their wallets. Huckabee proves once again that there is very little difference in the messages of Republicans and Democrats, and shows that McCain and Obama might as well be running in the same political party."
The Libertarian Party's presidential nominee for 2008 is former Congressman Bob Barr .
The Libertarian Party is America's third largest political party, founded in 1971 as an alternative to the two main political parties. You can find more information on the Libertarian Party by visiting www.LP.org . The Libertarian Party proudly stands for smaller government, lower taxes and more freedom.

Something's not so pure about the Libs current presidential nominee, Bob Barr. He doesn't favor the decriminalization of mj and other drugs. Must have an interest in the prison contracting bidness..
A libertarian acquaintance in Fay. tells us that there's two wings to the War Party:
Democrats and Republicans.
Meanwhile let's debate the best ways to privatize our sidewalks.

So Huckabee is saying that President Robert Taft had an unAmerican message...? That personal liberty is unAmerican...? That economic liberty is unAmerican...? I thought that was what America was all about.
Oh, I know. Huckabee would say that America is about his interpretation of the Bible and his interpretation of God's will. Yikes. Now THAT is an unAmerican message.

Huckabee's still a fat rube hick, mysterious weight-loss or not, to the rest of the country. Synonymous with "Arkansas," unfortunately.
No wonder he's so beloved in these parts.

Mike Huckabee spent 1/20th of his so called "economic" rival and still racked up delegates. That's called running a "Lean financial business". If I was a CEO of a company and I had to choose a financial advisor I would hire Mike Huckabee without a doubt. But if I wanted to flush down the drain 20 times more capital and get less for my money I choose the rival.
Mike Huckabee is the next great communicator. He is a man the American people can down right trust. He is a honest and humble man, who can relate to the common American citizen who's struggling to keep their house, pay high gas prices, put their children through school.
Mike Huckabee is a role model for society. Those that like to critize him are extremist either on the far left or far right. They know how influential Mike Huckabee will be in world politics so they try to spin everything they can to strike him out. But when the going gets tough, the tough get going and there's no way to strike Mike out. Just as Abraham Lincoln once said, "I may slip, but I will not fall." is the same motto that Mike run's on, pure determination and guts.
I challenge you to stop by the World Famous Huckapedia to cast your vote for the 44th Vice President of the United States of America. It's time to jump on the HuckaBUS and support a trustworthy candidate the American people can rally around with excitement and hope. Mike's taking us up to higher ground to set that proud American flag on top of.
Stop by and cast your vote today before the polls close:

How amusing. Huckabee supporters still see Romney as Huckabee's rival -- and totally ignore McCain. Maybe they still focus on Romney because Huckabee did this himself, which is why he lost the nomination. He put all his focus on defeating the wrong rival, even long after Romney had dropped out of the race.
I expect that is how he would lead the nation -- focusing on a perceived enemy when a larger one is much more dangerous. it's a good thing most people saw this.
