Mayor Hays' RV lot

Argenta News is raising questions about the financial wisdom of NLR Commodore Pat Hays' idea to put an RV parking lot at the foot of the Rock Island railroad bridge across from the Clinton Library. (Aesthetically, it's a good match for the commodore's planned rusty mothball fleet just upriver.)

Wowsers and former wowsers will want to read on after the RV item for news about the reopening of the infamous Checkmate Club.

Aesthetically, it's a good match for the giant mobile home on stilts sitting directly across the river. Think of the symmetry! haha

Checkmate Club! perk!

I just refilled my Viagra order online at Walmarts dot com! I don't really know the area very well.....are you saying the propose RV parking lot will be next door to the Checkmate Club? Goddddddd that opens up so many fabulous possibilities that my mind can't fathom them all right this minute!

And with a bridge in between......you just know some of the better looking visitors to the Clinton Library are secret skanks at heart! I love it when education can be tied to raw meanlingless zip-less FK'ing! That's why there are so many bars located right next to the edge of most college campuses!

Oh....my mind reels! Boats! Bars! RV's! Bridges! Clintons! College girls! Ought to be a train in the mix somewhere! Oh...did I just say train!

DBI,
Are you saying you would be willing to run that train?

hahahahahahahahaha

(God knows I would...muhahahahaha)

i can't help but believe that bill hit the checkmate a time or two in his younger days. it was the late night place to be as long as you had your knife or were with somebody properly schooled in self protection and who was real big, and were properly drunk. one of the tougher places around. you needed to mind your manners but they had good music and boogied till dawn. there were only 1 or 2 places in the state that could equal it and they didn't have the 5:00 liscense. eddies club in moffet oklahoma by the stockyards, served the purpose for the ft smith area and they had craps and blackjack tables. there were a couple of places around texerkana, the pines ballroom comes to mind but then they were not a late night joint either. although until closing time they rolled with the best.

Bring back G.G. Shinn for the grand opening.

/instant win

ARK. BLOG: G.G. Shinn? Where you from, boy? SW La.? If he could round up the Boogie Kings and open with "Choo Choo Locomotion" then even I might attend.

Back in the day, Mr. Shinn appeared on a semi-regular at the Mate. Did a great show. Brought out the babes. Heh!

Early 70's some of the bands I saw at the Mate included Rare Earth, Con Funk Shun, Starbuck (Moonlight Feels Right), Royal American Showmen, Doug Duffy and Vanilla Star, Jim Aldridge, etc.

Good old days of big hair, pukka shell chokers and shiny shirts.

Heh, and a 32 inch waistline!!

/sigh
