Stolen elections

Have 16 minutes? Check it out. British journalist Greg Palast, the guy who exposed Tim Griffin, "caging," etc. Who stole the African-American veteran vote?

Comments

Meanwhile John Conyers, chair House Judiciary committee, issued a subpoena to Karl Rove this past week. But caging and vote-rigging is not on his mind. "for testimony about the politicization of the Department of Justice (DOJ), including former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman's case."

It's very possible that investigating Herr Rove will lead to Palast's work.

Jesus! 232 years ago our forefathers went to war over much much less than this. Tories were pulled from their homes and shot over much much less than this. And yet Karl Rove and his evil minion are free and out making more money spinning the same evil. Tim Griffin...what....last we heard he's going to work for McCain. And all of us eat and sleep and work and watch TV and can't wait to cast our measly little vote this coming November.

What will we do when the 3rd Presidential election in a row is stolen? Go shop some more? Where are our 2 Senators who are supposed to be from the Democratic Party and are supposed to be protecting us from the likes of Karl Rove? Where are they? Where is Whispering John Boozman? Oh wait...he's on a free fact-finding trip to Germany this weekend...how was the schnitzel John? And just what facts did you find that will be useful to Arkansas? How's the golf in the Rhineland?

We've got to do more than vote this time around. We have to be smarter than Karl Rove. We have to be meaner than Dick Cheney. We have to take back our country. We must throw out our worthless representation in Washington starting with Mark W. Pryor and Whispering John Boozman. Look out the window....whoever you spot first would make a better Senator than Mark W. Pryor!

It's not our job to watch for traitors in this country, that job belongs to Congress. We elect them to watch out for us. Cheney-Bush voting men like Pryor and Boozman are not protecting us.....they're working for the other side! I know this is complicated.....but in order to put Karl Rove out of business, you're going to have to go vote for all Democrats outside the state of Arkansas....heres the hard part....and vote the Green Party candidates for those seats up for election in Arkansas.

Let's review. National race = vote Democrat, state race = vote Green Party. If everyone does that...we can have a big party next year and kiss and hug and wave the flag.....and it will mean something then. Your vote can win back America.......just do it!

No open line tonight? The AT should interview this woman.

It can not be said too often. Republicans will do ANYHTHING to win an election except get the most votes.

damn scary video, thank you Max for finding/posting it.

of course, i'd have to say that the best chance for a remedy
to the "politics/caging as usual" would be an overhwelming
tide of 'un-spoilable' votes for DEMS, resulting in a filibuster
proof Senate, a 70+ seat margin in the HoR,
and a half-african-american
in charge of the Executive Branch.

to restate the "old" (four years) axiom...

"if it's not close, they can't steal it"

Here's the print version of the film. bluename

By all means Max, others, if you don't receive Palast's newsletter by all means do. You can subscribe, free, at the link on my name.

Thanks for the video link and the info for Palast's newsletter. I remember seeing his stuff before and I think I had his website saved to my favorites. Unfortunately my hard drive crashed recently and I'm flying by the seat of my pants until I get everything recovered--hopefully.

I hope we're not completely undone by these devils, and I hope they all go to jail.

Seriously, the Arkansas Times needs to interview the woman who was kept in a cell for 4 days without food and water. I am tired of only hearing activists from both sides. I want to hear from the actual people. I want to know what led her from Mexico 19 years ago. The discrimination she has faced in her time here. Why she has stayed. Why she hasn't bothered to learn English and how she was able to survive without it. How she managed to stay so long without being caught. What's going to happen to her next. What will her life be in a year.

And this issue touches on so many things in Arkansas (and the nation). This is the pivotal issue today. It's not the war (everyone's sick of it), the election (this will outlast it), or the price of gas (what can you do). Warring sides of the Republican party, Holt, Huckabee, Womack, Hutchinson, Faubus, ICE, INS, 287g, sundown towns, public schools, the rise of private and charter schools, white flight, Tyson, Wal-Mart, Catholics and Baptists, poverty, social services, health care, ballot measures, JFK BLOWN AWAY WHAT ELSE DO I HAVE TO SAY THIS STORY HAS EVERYTHING!

It's bigger than 1 story or an issue...this is a series. This is something "60 Minutes" would cover. This is something the Pulitzer people would notice. This can be something that shapes public opinion. And it's something that only the Arkansas Times can do. The ADG can't do it justice. The local papers risk offending half the population. The Arkansas Times may just be gutsy enough to take the risk, skillful enough to do it right, far enough away to avoid local backlash, and yet close enough to make it into a statewide story.

The slipper fits, the porridge is just right, hit this one in the sweet spot and watch it fly out of the park.

I sure want to read the story ironfortified describes.

I agree with ironfortified on this one. I've always thought one of the fastest, easiest ways to dampen all the hate would be for a news organization to pick any Mexican immigrant they see on the street and talk them into accompanying them back to the exact spot they came from in Mexico. In all these years I have never seen or read a story about the home any of these immigrants left.

I just have to guess that we'd be shocked at the bone-crushing poverty that drove them to migrate north under the most difficult circumstances. It would be the simplest way to show the haters why they might need to pull their claws in a little bit. Even Bible-banging Republicans can understand fleeing from hopelessness.......can't they?

how was the schnitzel John?

I would buy that bumper sticker or t-shirt
