Can dice be far behind?
I'm not persuaded that the keno approved for use in Arkansas racinos today by the state Racing Commision is any more a game of skill than dice, where you also may increase your bet if you like the point that comes up after an initial throw. What we now clearly have is the cover of a paid consultant determining the legality of gambling practices in Arkansas. Since the consultant's money flows from ever-growing gambling, it follows that most schemes will be smiled upon. And the Racing Commission will smile upon anything that brings more money to the Oakland and Southland racinos. Somebody ought to sue.
Or we might as well deal the cards, roll the dice and spin the roulette wheel. The differences now are only cosmetic. But only at the Oaklawn and Southland racinos, of course. They enjoy a state monopoly on gambling until the Bill Halter Memorial Lottery takes effect.

Gallup: 48 Obama, 41 McCain
Rasmussen: 50 Obama, 43 McCain
Pollster.com: 47.5 Obama, 43 McCain
Okay, national polls don't matter too much, it's all about how the electoral college breaks down, right?
Electoral-Vote: 304 Obama, 221 McCain
USA Election Polls: The presidential matchup polls on our site have clearly shown a trend towards Obama over the past couple of months... His lead is at almost 70 electoral votes.
538: 275.5 Obama, 262.5 McCain
Obama is ahead in the national tracking polls (Gallup, Rasmussen, Pollster). He's ahead in all of the electoral college projections based on state polls (Electoral-Vote, USA Election Polls). He's ahead in a demographic based analysis (538).
As long as he doesn't get complacent, and barring a devastating October surprise, he wins. Period. I know it's too early to make statements like that, but really, I can't see it going any other way. Obama will win in November, with at least 319 electoral votes (or 328, 336, even 351 is within reach if he kicks some serious ass).
/President Obama

That's okay, Mojo. It's still a crapshoot--and it's up against a machine that is guaranteed to go to any lengths to do a "fix".

Yes someone should sue but on the basis of special local legislation. The law allowing gambling only in two specific places is unconstitutional. If we are going to have casino gambling at these two locations, then why not in the rest of the state?

Cella, Cella, Cella! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our bets shall rise to thee.
Cella, Cella, Cella! Merciful and mighty,
Gods in 2 locations, blessed gambling!
2. Cella, Cella, Cella! All the pols adore thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
which wert, and art, and evermore shalt be.
3. Cella, Cella, Cella! Though the darkness hide thee,
though the eye of sinful man thy glory may not see,
only thou art holy; there is none beside thee, (thanks to Ark. legislature)
perfect in power, in love and purity.
4. Cella, Cella, Cella! Lord God Almighty!
All thy tracks shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea.
Cella, Cella, Cella! Merciful and mighty,
Gods in 2 locations, blessed gambling.

It's inconceivable to me that anybody actually cares anymore about this issue in Arkansas.
Obviously, they do.
Gambling's already here.
It's been here for decades.
Religion's kept it supressed for decades.
So, instead of developing into the Las Vegas of America and the world's most popular resort destination, which it could have been, Hot Springs is a beautiful third-tier resort.
It's too late to reap the REAL benefits. But for heaven's sake, Arkansas, legalize what's already going on, and reap some tax benefits from it.

Lance, YES!
Craps, not chess, is the game that most mirrors Life.
Press the Six and Eight, dealer. And a nickel for the dealers on the hard ten.
WORK with me, Jesus!
