Come blow our own horn

The Association of Alternative Newsweeklies is holding its annual convention this weekend in Philadelphia, an event that includes announcement of winners in the annual national contest for writing and design.

Some good news for the Arkansas Times, which competes against weeklies with circulation below 55,000:

Two first-place awards -- for our website and for David Koon's feature on the UA's gem of a writer and blogger, Mohja Kahf.

Two second-place awards -- in special sections, for our edition on the 50th anniversary of the Little Rock school crisis, and in political columns, for a selection of Ernest Dumas' work.

The website--no surprise. I'm sure it could have competed on some of the other circulation levels. Nice work on the other awards as well.

Congratulations, Max. You, Ernie, David, and the entire AT staff deserve this recognition. Good show! The AT Blog has enriched my life, and I'm sure others will say the same.

What Pavel said, Congratulations to all!

HONK!

Congrats to all at the ARK TIMES, and thanks for providing us a weekly breath of fresh air. Every Thurs morning I actually find myself looking forward to picking up a copy of the TIMES, and that's the truth.

I read the AT before the newspaper, before I check the local tv news. before the national news. AT is always on top of things. thank you thank you for all the news and all the entertainment for all you do. it is greatly appreciated.

Congratulations all around, Max. You deserve it.

Arkansas Times puts Arkansas on the map. I'm proud I get the chance to type here and sign not my real name to every post! Hurray for Arkansas Times! Hurray for Barack Obama!!!
