Have pity on the working man

Interesting legal fight here.

An ex-cop who says he suffered permanent injuries by being shot in the ankle on the job, has been denied benefits by the state Workers Comp Commission, which apparently doesn't believe he was injured. The commission is famously anti-worker thanks to business lobby influence on the law and governors who appoint members. The state Court of Appeals has slapped the commission down twice in this case for ignoring evidence. Now the case is going to the state Supreme Court, where biggies Wal-Mart and Tyson are weighing in on the horror of a court stepping in to help an injured working man. Can't have that, they say. Wouldn't be good for business.

Corporatocracy here we come. Whoops, we're already there.

Now, here's where Beebe gets tested. His appointments to the many boards and commission can have a bigger impact on our daily lives than the outrageous corporate giveaways (HP, gas severance, only partial cut on food tax, for a few examples). Let's examine every appointment he makes and whether the corporate connection or the regular person is more important to him.

The shameful state of Worker's comp AR is a product of 10.5 years of Huckabee.

Amen Ron, our bestest friend used to be a Worker's Comp lawyer and he pointed out at the time it was going on, that on Huckabee's watch, Workers Comp as we knew it up to that time had been killed and there was no reason for him to go to work in the morning. A deal was made and now Arkansas workers get uniform crumbs even if they crawl to court with their severed leg gripped in their mouths.

The change made for quick and easy paperwork and nothing else of value. Get out an old phone book for yer town and see how many Workers Comp lawyers yer town USED to have, then check today. I'm no lawyer-hugger, but it's proof that Arkansas workers are up a creek if they get injured on the job in 2008. Remember Huckabee appointed one of his own to the head job and then she hired her tire-changer husband...woe unto Arkansas workers!

It is difficult to believe in this day and age this crap is allowed to happen. Tell us again Tyson's and WalMart are not making messicuns-illegal immigrants out of every one who holds a job in Arkansas.

It actually gets worse than this. If you missed Bill Moyers Journal Friday night you can go to his website and see how Darth Cheney's OSHA is allowing the chicken industry to carve up it's workers without ever recording a loss-time accident.

"The story originates with THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER's ongoing investigation into worker health and safety conditions at poultry plants. The OBSERVER's coverage led to several House Education and Labor Committee hearings in 2008. You can read the OBSERVER's ongoing series, peruse the House hearings and read the response to the series from poultry producer House of Raeford through the links below."

Moyers was great and since most of us live smack dab in the middle of Chicken Land, the evils that were pointed out are going on all around us. I know the head Chicken King in Fort Baptist is as scary as any Mafia don ever presented in the movies or the Soprano's. When the sole owner of a company that grossed over 900 million last year twitches a muscle everyone in the room jumps.

I likes America....I likes money...but why do it have to be so damn evil?
