Junction Bridge crowd control

After some confusion over access to the new pedestrian Junction Bridge during Riverfest fireworks (pictured), new rules have been put in place on access to the span during the July 4 concert and fireworks on the river.

Eric Francis, writing for the Dogtown Wire, thinks some more thought needs to be given to bridge safety, not just during the fireworks show, but after.

Anyone that thinks that is a big crowd has never been to Disney World on the 4th of July.

The terrible crowd after Riverfest he speaks of was caused by keeping the Main Street bridge closed over an hour after the fireworks had finished. People tired of waiting and headed for the Junction Bridge.

If the incompetent NLR PD had even tried to convey the source of the delay maybe the crowd wouldn't have become so impatient. But, all they did was talk into their mics and glower at us. It was the early 70's the last time I felt an urge to call police - pigs. But the performance of the NLRPD caused that old feeling to stir again.

Don't you think the ongoing situation with these bridges in LR pretty much sums up the current state of life in America today?

Good to see Eric writing again, though.
