Sexual politics
John McCain might not like town halls so much after all, not if he gets another one where somebody asks him about his marital infidelity in a more direct fashion. Until now, this subject has been off limits unless the candidate's name was Clinton.

Damn I wish Firefox and Java would fix the YouTube problem with their browser! Not that it's important, but is the question asker a man or a woman.....I can't tell. Secondly here's how it went:
Senator McCain, will you tell us about the time you FK"ed around on your ex-wife?
McCain: First I want to say how much I respect Hillary Clinton and what a damn good job Tide does on my underwear. Rosie, our Mexican maid brings my nasty looking old shorts back to me clean and fresh and without any brown streaks.
Secondly, though I've FK'ed and FK'ed over a lot of women in my life and acted like the worst of gay men in a NYC bathhouse in the 70s, I have a special warm spot in my heart for the sanc sanc sanctity of marriage between a cheating old FK'er like myself and a woman. God bless America and God bless all those we kill today in Iraq!

I don't know why he won't talk about his infidelities. I'd say that the precedent has been set. If infidelity is an impeachable offense, then we need to know exactly how much sactity he puts in his own marriage.
Wasn't it funny how bad that question threw him off. I didn't think the man could get any paler. Bring on those town hall meetings.
Max, this thread represents progress. I congratulate you on your attempts to focus on the real enemy.

You've commented before about Firefox and YouTube. I run Firefox 2.0.0.1 with no issues at all. Are you running an older version of FF? I think it might be a setting you have and not the browser per se.

The sad thing is that on the so-called "sanctity of marriage" both McCain and Obama agree (as well as Clinton). It's bad enough for a white male to not support equal rights, but it's really sad for a black male not to support equal rights.

In an interview with the Chicago Daily Tribune, Obama said, "I'm a Christian. And so, although I try not to have my religious beliefs dominate or determine my political views on this issue, I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."
Does seperate but equal remind anyone of anything?

Was this a major blunder or is he for real?
Palestinians slam Obama on Jerusalem remark
RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Palestinian leaders reacted with anger and dismay on Wednesday to Barack Obama's pledge that Jerusalem should be Israel's undivided capital.
President Mahmoud Abbas rejected the U.S. presidential candidate's pledge to American Jewish leaders and he repeated his demand for a Palestinian state with Arab East Jerusalem as its capital.
"This statement is totally rejected," Abbas told reporters in the West Bank administrative centre of Ramallah.
"The whole world knows that East Jerusalem, holy Jerusalem, was occupied in 1967 and we will not accept a Palestinian state without having Jerusalem as the capital of a Palestinian state."
Abbas aide Saeb Erekat said Palestinian negotiators engaged in U.S.-sponsored peace talks would continue to insist on securing East Jerusalem, captured by Israel in 1967, as their capital. He said of Obama: "He has closed all doors to peace."
Obama, newly secure as the Democratic nominee for president, said in a speech in Washington: "Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided."
The United States and other international powers do not regard Jerusalem as Israel's capital -- the U.S. and other embassies are in Tel Aviv -- and do not recognize Israel's annexation of Arab East Jerusalem following the 1967 war.

This is why democrats lose.
For 2 years a blowjob was on every ones mind and in the headlines. The Republican Party used every "naughty" detail to diminish OUR President and virtually shut down both houses...then they attempted to impeach. The drama by the "family values" party served them well.
In 2000 the family values party damn near won the election by having the protect marriage bullshit amendments in some key states...being that they've decided what hole you should prefer - and if it doesn't match their family values - America will be doomed.
So for over 10 years these pathetic small men have been the mattress police - on the premise that they're the right party. The family values party, America's Party.
And now, we've got Democrats who are whining that McCain's infidelities are off limits? He who was doing the wild thing with the Heiress while the wife and kiddies were at home? Why, because the D's are better people and we don't play that way?
Come on - that's why we lose elections and the Republican's (Karl Rove) count on the bleeding heart liberals who can't stomach the fact that politics is a contact sport...they count on it!!!
We hang the mistress and the double talk - family values - family man, Republican hypocrite around McCain's neck. I assure you, if our nominee some much as had a lap dance, he'd be hung out like a butchered hog...we either start bring a gun to this gun fight, instead of the usual water pistol, or the 2008 loss will be historic and make our party irrelevant for decades.
McCain cheated on his wife and left his family for another women, with a lot more dough and political connections....
McCain is a lying, cheating ex-husband - he should wear it.

I think in this election D's have shown they are quite comfortable using Republican tactics, so I, too, don't understand why McSenile's sex life is off limits. I don't think Obama should mention it at all, but we could find us some swiftboaters. I can assure you that there is lots of very damaging and dirty stuff the R swiftboaters are just waiting to throw at Obama at the appropriate time. It doesn't take much - just a quick ad or internet whisper about his sex life and his religion and lots of gullible people will become the fastest carrier of 'the message' Obama has ever seen. It's hard to prove a negative and it will be down and dirty - I've seen some of it.

Why should Democrats talk about such things (and act like Republicans) when there are plenty of real issues to talk about? The only reason the Republicans beat Pres. Clinton over the head with his infidelity is that was all they had.
Blue Ticker, do you think that's all we have? Do you think voters give a damn? I don't.
And most importantly, do you think Obama has never cheated or done other bad things in his past?

I don't think voters care about Clinton's sex life or McSenile's, but I did find it odd after the 24/7 nasty bashing of all things Clinton, that anyone would suggest Dem's don't do that.
I come on this morning to celebrate our candidate and found............more Hillary bashing. It gets harder and harder to care.

Well, cherubs, it's time we GO THERE.
We're loving, of course, the AR Demo-Gaz's cutesy circumlocution of McCain's calling his wife, the lovely Cindy, a "cunt" -- by, you know, spelling it "c*nt" even though our Republican POTUS candidate called his wife that.
Like we're in kindergarten and never heard the word before.
Big War Hero. Calls his wife a grade-school slur.
Tells you all you need to know about Hussman's opinion of his AR-DG subscribers.
Tells you all you need to know about the mainstream media.
They're the grownups and we're the children who must be spared words like "cunt."
Childish? What do YOU think?
The Republican POTUS candidate called his wife a "cunt."
On the record.
Or, "c*nt," since you're such a sensitive, innocent, childish, Arkansan . . . unlike the rest of the fucking country.
Look.
4,000+ American deaths in Iraq, plus hundreds of thousands of cases of PTSS, plus millions of dead, maimed and displaced Iraqis -- a country that had NOTHING to do with 9/11 -- .
I'm supposed to protest against two men or two women getting married and gaining equal rights as every other American?
Are you fucking kidding me?
McCain pretends to tell ANYBODY how to live their Love Lives?
That adulterous, mercenary second-rate ancient adolescent with anger-management issues who's slipping into senile dementia presumes to aspire to POTUS and run our country FURTHER into the ground?
You want ANOTHER elderly petulant junior-high-school child running what's supposed to be the world's leading country?
Hell, no, Razorbacks.
We've already jumped the shark.

NY Times/CBS News/MTV Poll
17-29 Year olds
June 15-23, 2007
In a New York Times poll in June, 74 percent of respondents said they did not think most people they know would vote for a presidential candidate who has ever used cocaine.
39. Do you think most people you know would vote for a presidential candidate who has ever used cocaine, or not?
Would - 22%
Would not - 74%
DK/NA - 4%

Perhaps you should protest against Obama as well since he opposes gay marriage too.

I wonder what he thinks about those Christians who don't think blacks should marry whites?
Only a coward wouldn't stand up for equal rights for all Americans. We shall see if he grows a pair and changes his position.

********
I haven't seen Mr. McCain's response to the question - seems like he would be better served by just calmly acknowledging it, add a comment of remorse and move on.
The Dems desire to beat him over the head with his sexual past just points out the (mutual) hypocrisy of sexual politics that extends to the common man (woman).
Just note the current Dem comments about how disgusting those sorry Repubs were to make such a big deal out of an oval office extra-marital, presidential BJ (and numerous other infidelities) - and now it seems the same Dems make the same comments about a similar excursion by their Repub opponent.
Hypocrites.
What happened to matching your personal conduct with your personal values - or is that too much to ask these days? Evem of the common man (woman)?
Great illustration that our national philosophy is still the end justifies the means.
F*** the high road. That's for losers.

Blue Ticker, do you think that's all we have? Do you think voters give a damn? I don't.
Of course they do!!! What planet you living one darling; Spears, Lohan, the Pitts, America feeds on that kind of crap - I'd bet more American's know who Britney Spears is than who Nancy Pelosi is.the Thugs know this, and the Press runs crap like it 24/7 - so yes, I'd talk about McCain the infidel every damn day of the week.
And Don, taking the high road with the do and say anything to win, truth or not Republican Party and their nasty 527's will be a fatal tactic. For too long the Democrats have gotten in the ring and boxed admirably - but when the Republicans started hitting with low blows, and lies.we stood there and took it - we lost - we as a party either better learn how to fight the fight we are given not the one we want to fight.or we lose again.
And yes, screw the high road - we can travel the high road when we get the vote - until then, they deliver a low blow, I expect the D's to deliver two.!
39. Do you think most people you know would vote for a presidential candidate who has ever used cocaine, or not?
Would - 22%
Would not - 74%
DK/NA - 4%
They voted for Bush twice and he lied about his usage - and that'll be how Obama spins that. Rather than stand in front of the American people and say "I don't remember every taking any" (lying), Obama says ya, and I didn't much like it. Of course, the truth from our President might be too much for many - since for the last 8 years, everytime Bush's lips moved...it was a lie.

"F*** the high road. That's for losers."
damn good line DK
boils down to 7or8 words the fundamental difference 'tween
"the politics of the past" and "change we can believe in"
or in far more words, the more people involved in working out a solution, the more likely the solution will be supported. (as well as the more likely the solution itself will benefit more people, more fairly, than just a few at the expense of the many)
your words work better than mine. good job, don keyhotay.

Dearest BT,
The only chance Obama has is to convince voters he's different. That he wants to rise above destructive politics and make Americans lives better. That's what voters want...better lives. We have the issues on our side and can make lives better.
Of course, if the Republicans attack and they will, Obama should defend himself as best he can. If he did something wrong, he should apologize. If he didn't, he should fight back.
The bottom line is that people vote for their self interests. Obama can't lose focus on that.
PS. My sleep apnea is no more.
