Sweet dream: terrorist attack

Charlie Black, John McCain's main lobbyist man, has been caught channeling  Arkansas GOP chair Dennis "What We Need is Another 9/11" Milligan.

The assassination of Pakistani political leader Benazir Bhutto in late December was an "unfortunate event," Black told Fortune, but it boosted McCain's stock in the fast-approaching New Hampshire Republican primary that he absolutely, positively had to win. The candidate's "knowledge and ability to talk about it reemphasized that this is the guy who's ready to be commander in chief. And it helped us," Black said.

Then, the longtime political pro got a bit too honest. Asked about the political impact of another terrorist attack on U.S. soil, Black replied: "Certainly it would be a big advantage to him."

I dunno, Max. Had an hour's worth of mostly good-natured argument with an acquaintance who is still a Bush supporter. He spouted every lie, every wrong defense ever stated by this misAdministration and he really wants to believe them all, facts be damned. I even heard the tired old "fight 'em here" line. This fellow is fairly typical and I'm pretty sure you can multiply him by thousands of non-thinking Arkansans, at least. Black's comments, reprehensible to the worst degree, are not entirely wrong as far as political predictions go. I'm sure an attack would swing voters towards GOPerland again because... well I can't explain it, I"m not like them. But it worked out ok for the asshole in office now.

However, the documented cultural mood (according to polls) shows that even mouth-breathers are in a "throw the bastards out" mode so far. If they can't take time to vote Dem for real reasons, let's hope that simply being shallow and in the mood to go the other direction for a while will carry the Nov. elections. McSame is withering so far. Please God let it stay that way.

"Certainly it would be a big advantage to him."

This is just one of several reasons an Autumn "terrorist attack" wouldn't surprise me.

Never mind that an apology was offered like three hours ago, Max.

Did you miss that in your journalistic zeal?

You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube, Red.

McCain couldn't be helping Obama more if he were a plant. LOL

I really don't expect another attach. However to help him along I have little doubt that Dark Side Cheney would give the go-ahead for a round of Orange Alerts beginning the last of July, first of Aug.

Surely you recall the Orange Alerts, threats in NYC subways, Duct-Tape Defenses. They peaked in the Summer of 04 and poof! Just ended in Nov 04 and to this date we've magically never had another one but,
don't hold your breath. While Southern borders, Western borders of USA are terribly insecure allowing all sorts of aliens to cross undetected with their cargoes I fully expect at least two Orange Alerts come July thru September. Remember you cannot question such alerts either...Patriot Act you know.

Never mind that an apology was offered like three hours ago, Max.<< ARed

And never mind that Clinton apologized years ago to the entire nation on TV about the Blue Dress/blow job lie.
Or have you forgotten Republic zeal?

Wow, Golly! 65 dead on Saturday, 15 today in Iraq 5 today in Afghanistan and 55 terrorists blown away along the Pakistan border . . . 140 in six days is not enough to elect McBush. I guess Charlie believe it has to escalate to 2900 plus before the sterling qualities of John, nearly an Admiral, McCain's stances on whichever side of the issue is convenient is appreciated.

A new corollary to the "Republican's will do anything to 'win' an election except get the most votes."

"the Tree of Liberty must be refreshed win another Republican win no matter how much or whose blood it takes, as long as it isn't me or the candidate."

I'll vote for McCain, all he has to do is move the White House, Congress and Supremes into the new Iraq mega-embassy for the next four years. That would do it. It wouldn't even take them 100 years to resolve the Iraq problem. But none of them have the courage to do what they have asked hundreds of thousands of troops to do . . . repeatedly.

Well said, Mag, about facts notwithstanding with Bush supporters.

Those of us who get our news from the internets have been hearing this mantra increasing for at least 18 months: "We're going to have to attack Iran (for their "nucular" development) before the election." Or, "There's going to be another terrorist attack in the U.S. necessitating retaliation, before the election."

18 months of increasing buildup and speculation in the press. Almost like Prep Propaganda.

Considering all that's happened in the last two "elections," and the documented facts of history regarding Pearl Harbor, the Gulf of Tonkin resolution, 9/11, our invasion of Iraq, etc., NOTHING will surprise me about the depths to which Eisenhower's party will dive to secure the complete control of America, Europe and the World by the Military-Industrial complex Ike warned us about.

doc, are you sayin that McCain will ride the Torture Express all the way to the Iraq World Headquarters?

Now that I think about it Halliburton will be moving their main headquarters to Dubai in a year or two. It's a spectacular compound they're building over there. Just a short flight from Dubai to Baghdad.

Sorry, eL. I just read El Clinton's speech of Sept. 11, 1998, and he didn't actually apologize.

The closest he got was:

"It is important to me that everybody who has been hurt know that the sorrow I feel is genuine: first and most important, my family; also my friends, my staff, my Cabinet, Monica Lewinsky and her family, and the American people. I have asked all for their forgiveness."

The only issue is that no where in the speech did he ask the American people for forgiveness.

He did, however, say that he would instruct his lawyers to mount a "vigorous defense" a key talking point at any prayer breakfast (which is where he was at the time).

It wouldn't have mattered to you if he personally had appologized.
You know that and we all know that.
Glad you wasted your time reading that speech.
Next time you have so much time to waste try reading the Bible....THE RED PART.

"A non-binding resolution to demand that President Bush impose 'stringent inspection requirements' on trade with Iran - language that leaves the door open for a military blockade - will likely come to the House floor this week, according to sources close to Congressional leadership."

Click my name and see that we have bigger fish to fry that the loose lips of the Republican crook trying to get old man McCain elected. The House appears to be pushing us closer to war with Iran and there are lots of Democratic sponsors. WTF is up with that? We can't win the 2 wars we're currently losing...why go for 3?

Maybe we could work a deal with the terrorists who hate Bush more than we do. We'd give them lots of Google maps and help them bomb Republicans homes and businesses! That way the Republicans hoping for an attack to help old man McCain would be happy (in their graves), the terrorists could get all that killing out of their system and us nice Democrats would be rid of all the political assholes. It's a Win Win Win!

"Next time you have so much time to waste try reading the Bible....THE RED PART." - Meet John Doe

Deutoronomy 21:18. You know. Stone your disobedient children to death.

Holy fucking shit!

And I mean that in a nice way.

But it would be Christian, for a change, if you cited something other than the most psychotic rantings ever published (the Bible) as your source.

I'm all about the blood of disobedient children flowing up and down Cantrell, but get fucking REAL, MJD.

You're just preaching bloodshed and infanticide to the choir, MJD.

The rest of us think you, and the Bible, are nuts, you cherry-pickers.

Nuts, I tell you!

Really, if Black had thought it thru before speaking, he might have changed his mind about another attack being good for McCain. The persons who would likely benefit from another attack before Nov, would be the current administration. No way would Cheney leave if given the opportunity to stay indefinitely. He would instruct Bush to postpone the election for "our" protection and they would stay in office. Neither Obama nor McCain would get a chance at governing this go round. Black, who's supposed to be all politically brilliant must be underestimating the tenacity of Cheney/Bush.

Aw, c'mon MJD and Norma. I was just pulling Ared's string. All you need do is mention CLINTON, or clinton,
or Clintons and he goes all google, like a wind-up doll. Try it sometime.

I believe Black was stating what he believes is a fact. I believe it is correct.

A terrorist attack will send wussy Republicans to vote McCain.

I calls em as I sees em and I think Black is correct. But of course there is no way to check.
