In LR! Worst. President. Ever.

Since folks have been anxious to throw in comments about the Bush visit in other threads, here's a line on that topic. (Above is a pool photograph, supplied by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, from his visit to the Family Service Agency in North Little Rock. The White House staged an I-care session for Bush there on the financially embattled, probably as a means to get a public offset to the cost of his flying down for a fund-raiser later at the home of beer distributor George O'Connor on Palisades.)
Other sightings? Comments? Photos? (Send them to max@arktimes.com).
If the motorcade to Palisades exceeds 25 mph, I expect the Cammack cops to hop to.
David Sanders, we await your inside-the-fund-raiser report.
MOTORIST UPDATE: Road rage rules. More than an hour before Bush was to leave, major arteries were blocked or severely limited (i.e. LaHarpe), to preserve a smooth flow for the Bush motorcade back to the airport. Worst was Interstate 30, its three southbound lanes blocked at the Broadway exit in North Little Rock. The traffic backup was huge and steaming, our trappee reports. I was flipped the bird by a woman who thought blocking Second Street at Chester would somehow make the stopped traffic in front of her on Chester move so that she could proceed. I had given her a horn salute for blocking the intersection.

Nothing here, but just a thanks for reminding me this clusterf*ck is going on around midtown, so I know to avoid all things related to the area he is in.

Around 10 minutes ago there was a cop stationed on Stonewall and University with about 8 to 10 people milling around it, I thought there had been another burglary. Who knew I was almost right? There were other blue lights on university south of Kavanaugh near Cantrell. Helicopters are above.
When is the Boy King expected? I'll take pictures and post them, if that's possible. But I'm not going to waste too much time waiting for him, he seems like he'd be someone who is chronically late.

The Divider is above the Cammack Constitution. If Poo for brains gets a ticket he will get a retroactive imunity granted for all donors doing the work to keep America safe from terrorists by getting a $4,000 picture made with lil Bush.

Sometimes being in a small town is better. I just returned from watching and smelling the Rodeo of the Ozarks annual July 4 parade. Pippin the Dog saw her very first horses and she gave them the usual Terrier greeting Bark-Bark-Grrrrrr. We live a few blocks from the downtown street and someone had the audacity to return to their car and walk on Pippin's sidewalk. Near fatal accident.
Tell Bush and Cheney that some in Springdale will miss them. Most of today's folks were in high spirits and Bush wasn't included. We have no defense contractors that I'm aware of in these parts but a bunch of GIs who are now very disillusioned with our Monkey in Chief. Our super rich guys never paid much in taxes anywaz so his tax cuts didn't mean much to them. There's so many other ways to minimize taxes for the $5 million+ per year crowd.
The live country music float featured some outstanding gospel. "I'll fly away" played during its pass on the corner Pippin and I inhabited. Politicians galore. Few of them were smiling. One of those few times when they must actually encounter we the people.
I never realized how many foxy cowgirls inhabit NWA, esp those babes wearing sheer western shirts and rubber band tight jeans. Who needs Bush, or McBush, or Fisa Obama.

Too bad every chain-link fence in Little Rock doesn't bear the numbers of US troops killed in Iraq in Solo cup numbers so the worst American in history can see them as he drives past. Probably to shield his chicken ass the limo has the dark stuff put on the windows backwards so the retard can't see out.
PS In case yer interested 4113 is the correct number for your fences.

The motorcade just traveled down University about five minutes ago, didn't have time to get the camera out. There is no way he'll take the same route out. The display was horrific, no fewer than 10 vans with uniformed military/police speeding by, it was preceded by a Calvary of uniformed motorcycle cops with sirens screeching and blue lights flashing.
Oh yeah, the spectacle ended with white van or two marked "press" as the caboose. It looks like the Arkansas Times didn't get press passes, hard to imagine.
The Cammack Police could have funded their retirement fund for the next generation off the tickets from that lot of lead footed lead heads.

He will be taking the same route out according to the police officer I talked to. He should be leaving the area around 6pm or so. I will try to find out a more accurate time and post it if I can.
I stood at University and Longwood with my "IMPEACH BUSH" sign and a woman wearing a "01.20.09" hat. We appeared to be the only protesters.
Perhaps signs could be hung on the UALR black iron fence where the chancellor lives. It is public property, right?

Some folks on Greenwood have set up a lemonade stand in their front yard. It's festooned with red-white-blue bunting, little American flags (no doubt made in China), and a sign that says "Welcome to Arkansas President Bush". What a bunch of horseshit.

As I just now whizzed by Greenwood, I could swear one of the signs says "Buy Lemonade or Water for President Bush". I would rather die of thirst.

I wonder if the state Republican party is going to refund for all the expenses to the city, county, and state involved in this mess (cops, etc)...probably not.
Honestly, someone should come up with some whiz bang numbers with the taxpayer cost (both to government, and in terms of traffic delays) of Bushes little run to Cammack Village, and post it. Remind us where our sales/property/income taxes are going -- not to stop crime but to ensure the Republican Party can have their dear leader come for a visit.

I don't recall all of the complaints when President Clinton visited Arkansas. I also don't think the DPA reimbursed any cities.
What is the big deal?
Posted by: ni4ni
|
July 1, 2008 08:15 PM
The big deal is that we shut down freeways and use police as traffic cones for the president to raise money for a private faction - the Republican party. In RE Clinton: We need to ask the same questions of the DPA when/if the next Democratic President or other authority figure shows up to raise money and warrants this level of protection. It isn't a party issue: it is the issue that Max has to talk about daylight robberies in the Heights, while our police force is out ensuring no one crosses Cantrell Road for an hour or so before Bush decides he wants to leave.
Another thing - what was with the traffic woman on the radio saying "I can't say why the roads are closed", when the Cable News folks were showing Bush in town, and I figure the local news led with his presence at 5.

And 3rdly, if you decide to have a circus this weekend for yer kid's 6th birthday, the city will not permit it to happen. You have circuses where they allow circuses and you have to get a permit to disrupt areas of the city. I can't see from over on this side of the state, but I'm guessing that this Carmack place isn't a place they'd let you or me bring a big top and a bunch of elephants to.....I mean big elephants with trunks and all, not 2 legged elephants that steal, torture and kill.
So maybe it's time to ask that gal at Sworay Magazine to go back to her office in city hall and draft some kind of rule saying this kind of crap has to go on at Barton Coliseum or something and not where it will FK up half the town. Make it stick even if it's President Obama coming to town next year.
We're barely getting by and yet everywhere Bush & Cheney decide to go pick up some bag money, some city has to spend hundreds of thousands of our tax dollars to keep someone from getting within a mile of their sorry asses. Where is some common sense?

Sure am glad I live over here where angels fear to tread, let alone brain dead presidents. We did have an occasion 46 years a go when President Kennedy came to Big Cedar, Oklahoma, as a favor to Senator Kerr. Just a spot in the road but lots of the local natives drove the 35 miles to see the first Roman Catholic President of the United States. I have photos somewhere.

Have to wonder if these trips are worth the ill-will and unbridled anger generated by these rush hour snarls. I always thought Clinton illustrated his pompous ego by doing this and screwing up the little people with no thought to what havoc this left in his wake.
Now its apparent that Bush and Clinton have at least one personality trait in common.

ni4ni,
WJC's performance as president and approval rating did not require as much SS and Police Protection from protests and/disgruntled subjects with carry permits. It sounds as if the Liar-in-Chief would need less protection and entourage on another visit to Baghdad.
In any case, the SS contigent does not rest easy when Tumbler's approval rating is 23% and disapproval rating is 73%. That means there is a whole lot more potential shooters out there.

YAY! The night shift at the chicken plant is off and LargeAss is home relaxing in front of the computer. It's great when a hard worker slips off those steel-toed shoes and let's his piggie air out after a hard day of debeaking. You must not have read any of the other threads on the AT blog or you'd know that most of us are a little pissed at Obama for announcing he's voting with Bush on the FISA bill coming up and for sucking up to the faithbased MFs today.
We've had almost 8 years of a bullheaded son of a bitch ignoring the will of the people and now Obama's doing it all over again. I don't like it one bit! But about this great day you had on Tuesday...did the boss let you off to go meet Bush at the beer man's house? Did you get to personally break pretzels with the President? I'm really impressed!
I do have one question for you Large, old buddy....I know you go talk in tongues on Sundays, but do you also type in tongues on this blog? What the hell is french fries with Jassies? Does this mean I'm still on the wall? And am I still a Dumbrill or whatever name you kept calling me? You're such a mystery!

Clinton did it! Clinton did it!
Clinton is so eight years ago. By my reckoning Large Ass has a man-crush on Bill Clinton, which, incidentally, is a second-fiddle boner to the one he has for George W. Bush.
Can you really not see what's askew with this picture? It was a fundraiser. Doesn't matter which party. It was a f-king political fundraiser...people eating ice-cold shrimp and drinking hard liquor at some rich guy's house, passing the hat around to raise money for more corruption. They probably raised less money for Grampa Munster than they spent getting George's stupid simian ass into Cammack Village.
He's the Cammack Village Idiot! Damn...there's your protest sign.
Well you know what? It was a circle jerk. It was a waste of money for the partygoers--not to mention the taxpayers. The black guy is going to be your new President, Large Ass. Better get used to the idea.
Barack has almost as many SS agents as dubya? What does that tell me? For one thing it tells me Barack is being protected from people who want to kill him because they hate (fear) the notion of his Presidency. dubya is being protected from people who want to kill him because they hate (just plain hate) the knowledge of his Presidency. (And his guys are toting machine guns.)
President Obama. Get used to it.
