Oil up $5 because of a surprising lack of gas inventory. Not really a big surprise. Oil price has been dropping steadily for two weeks probably causing some to dust off the SUV and live it up being that gas is averaging at the bargain rate nearly $3.60 a gallon.
Fooled ya!
Hmm, whats a person to do?
Relying less if at all on oil for energy would allow you to really care less what oil does from moment to moment.
Sound Policy - The U.S. Attorney's scandal is the biggest screw-up of the Bush Administration. There is no question that the underlings at the DoJ were politicizing the selection process. The replacement of Bud Cummins with Tim Griffin was a disaster. It is conceivable that Alberto Gonzales could have been impeached and removed from office over the handling of it.

I am guessing there will be a slow, steady drop in oil prices before the November election. Big oil does not want a Democrat in the White House and lower prices, along with their PAC contributions, will be their effort to assure there's 4 more years of Bushism at the helm.
"So on Election Night the first time, I endorsed Daugherty, because thats where the heart of the people lay. In the runoff, the Swaim Camp raised large amounts of money. Money that could have gone to After School Programs went to billboard signs. Money that was raised that could have gone to playground equipment and new ceiling tile paid for direct mail glossy mailers and other forms of advertisement."
I went on a trip last week to a popular vacation spot in the Smoky Mountains. It was packed. These weren't locals and they weren't rich folks. I thought that gasoline was so expensive that people had curtailed their driving. Well, that is a lot of hooey!!!! People haven't changed their driving habits to the extent that it is noticeable.
Along the same lines, IF you think the average American driver "gets it," try driving the speed limit on ANY street, road, highway or Interstate...(or ----- YIKES! 55 - the best highway mileage speed).

Larry - my son played American Legion baseball this summer and we have been in a different town for a game or a tournament the last 8 to 10 weeks.
I saw plenty of people in the right lane driving at 65 mph with their cruise control. You would see the 18 year old in a Z71 pickup blow by you, but I must say that drivers appeared pretty responsible this summer.
We I think don't want to serve anyone but we do want Bush to serve us...which he has no intention of doing.
Gas price is a big problem but did you know we are being robbed by those who appraise our property.. In the face of nationwide lower values and record foreclosures our property appraisal went up. Passing that amendment 79 was the worst thing we stupid arkies has ever done..
We must and should get a petition up to do away with 79.
(Thomas Jefferson addresses the generation of 2008)
Excerpts from the first Inaugural Address of Thomas Jefferson, 4 March 1801
-Equal and exact justice to all men, of whatever state or persuasion, religious or political...freedom of religion, freedom of the press, and freedom of person under the protection of the habeas corpus, and trial by juries impartially selected. These principles form the bright constellation which has gone before us and guided our steps through an age of revolution and reformation. The wisdom of our sages and blood of our heroes have been devoted to their attainment. They should be the creed of our political faith, the text of civic instruction, the touchstone by which to try the services of those we trust; and should we wander from them in moments of error or of alarm, let us hasten to retrace our steps to regain the road which alone leads to peace, liberty, and safety.
I've started driving 73 or so with the cruise control, slower than normal (which I hate to confess). But I can see the difference in MPG and I don't really get there any slower.
This week, the House is expected to bring the Paycheck Fairness Act to the floor for a vote, legislation that would help close the wage gap between working men and women and "close loopholes that have allowed employers to avoid responsibility" for discriminatory pay. In an official statement, the White House said it would veto the bill:
Last night, someone posted a prediction that Lu Hardin would have resigned by now.
He hasn't, and he needs to, or the UCA Board needs to ask for it. Can anyone, especially the Board, believe anything that comes out of his mouth?
If they listen long enough to Lu,
They'll find a way to believe that it's all true.
Knowing, that he lied, straight faced, while they pried,
Yet they look to find a reason to believe.
Rest in Peace, Dorsey Ryan....one of the most radical, multi-talented, surprising, inventive, amazing people to have ever graced the soil of Arkansas. From Tick Art to gifting half of Fort Baptist with Big Daddy Wine at Christmas, to all night sing-ins-love-ins-toke-ins in the middle of his blueberry patch...... The only amazing person I've ever met from West Virginia. Maybe by the funeral I'll remember all the words to Chappaquiddick Island by the Sea and Impeachment Blues and that Alan B. Shepard song and share them......priceless!
In little Manning town, there's a fresh new mound of ground. Where Mary Jo has found her resting place......oh...something about that Detroit coffin in the sea.....but I do remember the chorus....
Ole Teddy had a wife and a bright outlook on life...and dreams of the Presidency. But he threw them all away, on that fateful day, on Chappaquiddick Island by the sea......
Now, cato...clearly you've still got a lot to learn...from the ladies on this blog. But I'll give you a B for effort.
The Republican Party is one big bunch of sexist pigs...old sexist pigs. (Women need Obama/Michelle.) So I'm not surprised that Monkeyboy is going to veto equal pay for women.
This may not be exactly "on point" on this thread, but this may be the nearest-appropriate that is still active.
I've noticed a lot of use of the term "fascist" on these blogs, so decided to check it out.
In addition to--or perhaps apart from--it's technical "political science" definition, Wikipedia says that it is frequently used as an epithet: "The word "fascist" when used in this sense is meant to mean "oppressive," "intolerant," "chauvinist," "genocidal", "dictatorial," "racist" and/or "aggressive," ." Good enough for me at the moment.
But what was more eye-opening was what I found at another Web site: "George W. Bush and the 14 Warning Signs of Fascism." http://www.oldamericancentury.org/14pts.htm
Scary!
I have attempted to connect a link to my name. First time I've tried this. May not work.
The 'paycheck fairness act' has NOTHING to do with equal pay for equal work. That is already covered by law. It is another of many silly attempts to make 'comparable worth' protected by law. It advocates that a secretary should make the same as a coal miner contrary to the dictates of the market. Anyone with experience as a job analyst knows better than this. Again, another attempt by silly feminists to dictate to the market what big daddy government wants. It is far from being fair. Have you ever worked in a mine?
Sky, the first time is often a fumble, but (and I say this as a woman of experience) I'm glad you stuck in there and kept plugging and finally succeeded!
Yes, it was good for me too.
And thanks for the link. Though the 14 points are familiar to many, they're also new to many, and cannot be repeated enough.
BTW anybody else notice that some of the threads on this blog lately have become nothing but streams of tit-for-tat pointless bickering signifying nothing?
Do what I do.

I need some help here. Did former Justice Department counselor Monica Goodling illegally ask applicants for Justice Department jobs:
1) "What is it about George W. Bush that makes you want to serve him?"
or
2) "What is it about George W. Bush that makes you want to serve Him?"
I'm hoping chasv, Severus, Ark Blog or strangelove can enlighten us.
