Who's in the tank?

Just about every political candidate thinks the other guy is getting better treatment from the media than he/she is.

That said, a Media Matters columnist savages (link fixed) Ron Fournier and the AP for its perceived favoritism toward Republicans generally and John McCain extra especially.

Comments

I suppose the lesson learned here.. is if you can out a covert spy in the USA for the office of the Vice President and get away with it, you certainly shouldn't worry about running over people or stopping to see if they are alright or anything.

Whoops, sorry wrong thread.. although, now that I think about it.. it does seem like Fournier is the new Novack.

Not to repeat myself or anything, but Fournier is a complete hack. Boehlert nails him in this piece.

By the way, I don't think the link in the post above works correctly. The URL is as follows:

http://mediamatters.org/columns/200807220006

Clicking on my name will take you to it.

Yeah, the link needs to be fixed. thanks for the real one, gaddis.

Call me when Media Matters writes about Barry Hussein's (Peace Be Upon Him) network anchor posse.

The friendly email between Ron Fournier and Herr Karl Rove that surfaced recently bothers me. Fournier explains it away as just being cordial to a news source. It would seem to me if you are hoping to get news tips from someone it would be harder if you went around calling him a Commie Sumbitch.....but Jesus....Karl Rove! That seems like being caught with milk stains on yer crotch in a police line up looking for a baby rapist.........ack!

Humans used to be able to be objective and do the news without bringing their own agenda to the table with them. But sure seems like that one flew out the window. I have to do business with a lot of rightwing nut cases, and not a one of them know I'd like to choke them to death in the middle of their speech about how George W. Bush is the baby Jesus all grown up. I have to work on keeping my face all placid like a cow chewing its cud, and I promise it takes will power and practice to do it, but I dood it.

I hope like hell Ron Fournier isn't a Cheney plant at the AP. We'll just have to wait and see. History will out him if he is. But it sure does suck having to wait for history to sort out the good guys from the bad guys. We'd all be speaking German today if the Greatest Generation had sat on their hands waiting for history to do the hard work for them.

Call me when Arkansas Red goes into De-Fox treatment.

If idiots like Michael Savage & Bill O'Reilly get upset with Media Matters catching them in blatant lies, then that puts them in the good guys corner for sure.

Until you have bonafide evidence of BHO''s "posse" then you're just a steaming electric pickle Ared.

The NYT continues the media insult given to McBush. Seems McBush's didn't have a clarity the Times demands.

bluename.

So the fact the Brian, Charlie and Katie are interviewing Obama (Peace Be Upon Him) abroad is not proof of an anchor posse?

Or is that just an "inartful" comment from an eLwood that is not the eLwood I have known?

Speaking of the NYT, when will Media Matters cover that story?

Will Media Matters question why Obama (PBUH) thinks we all need to learn Spanish, but is printing campaign fliers in German?

campaign fliers in German?<<

Tin foil hats are saying he is a secret Hitler clone. Someone screwed up and got Negro tainted DNA in the preserved sample. Check out that faux story about him having a Negro-Muslim father. Just a diversion while the new Reichland is being prepared. SIG HUSSIEN!

Ditto Red,

I didnt think you could campaign on the tax payers dime, isn't he over their as part of his Senator job ? Doesn't that violate campaign finance law ?

Come on, look at the news factor. McCain meets with the elder Bush on a golf course vs Obama meets with leaders overseas and visits war zones. This is pure BS. There's ups and downs in a campaign season.
The key thing is back to how tough are the questions being put out by these reporters. Are they throwing hardballs, curves, sliders or just lobbing home run balls over the plate?

None of this compares with the open-bias exhibited by the Faux Noise Network as evidenced by the folloing:

. A June 11 Fox News broadcast graphic identified Michelle Obama as "Obama's baby mama" rather than as Obama's wife.

. On the night that Obama secured the Democratic Party nomination, he and Michelle bumped knuckles, a gesture that the Fox News anchor referred to as a "terrorist jab." To his credit, the anchor has since apologized for the remark.

. On a Fox News broadcast during the Puerto Rico primary campaign, Republican strategist Roger Stone alleged that Michelle Obama had publicly referred to Whites as "whitey" and that a tape existed that would back up the charge of her alleged racism. The smear that Stone passed along originated with right-wing blogger Larry Johnson and made the rounds of right-wing blogs, repeated by talk radio host Rush Limbaugh. Stone was soon forced to admit that he had not talked to anyone that had viewed the tape. Indeed, no such tape appears to exist.

. While Obama's father may be Muslim, the repeated veiled references on Fox News to Obama himself being an unpatriotic Muslim who refuses to say the pledge of allegiance or wear an American flag lapel pin while intending to destroy the United States are too numerous to mention in this space.

. The breathless non-stop "coverage" of the "controversy" surrounding remarks by Obama's pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, has been covered extensively elsewhere and is also too voluminous to chronicle in this space. This occurred simultaneously with Fox News' failure to cover outrageous comments made by McCain supporters John Hagee and Rod Parsley.

. Several Fox News personnel have been only too happy to smear Obama by assertion, using such tactics as equating Obama's first name with Osama bin Laden's name and Obama's middle name (Hussein) with Saddam. One notable example was a joke made by Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes, who reportedly said in a speech, "It's true that Barack Obama is on the move. I don't know if it's true President Bush called [Pakistan President Pervez] Musharraf and said, 'Why can't we catch this guy?'"

. Last year, the Fox News program Fox and Friends aired a report that Obama had attended a radical Islamic school in Indonesia when he was a child. When the allegation was shown to be false, Fox and Friends' co-hosts distanced themselves from the story, which had begun as an unsubstantiated story in Insight Magazine, a publication by the right-wing Washington Times newspaper.

. On June 6, Fox News anchor Brit Hume said about Obama: "His campaign has emphasized his faith in part to dispel what the campaign calls an online smear campaign which contends among other things that Obama was raised a Muslim. There is even a statement on his official campaign website reading, quote, 'Obama has never been a Muslim, and is a committed Christian.' But Obama's half brother is not so sure. Malik Obama tells The Jerusalem Post that, 'if elected his brother will be a good president for the Jewish people, despite his Muslim background.'" The quote from Obama's brother was dutifully repeated on fan sites for Fox News' Sean Hannity as well as by conservative bloggers. ABC News obtained a tape of the interview in question, and although the questions aren't clearly heard, what Obama's brother said was perfectly audible. What Malik Obama apparently did say, in part, was: "...I can't go in terms of Israel and Kenya and America, and so forth, you know, but based on what else I've heard him say and what I know of him as an individual, I don't think Israel should worry too much, you know, about the connection. Because, I am a Muslim myself, and I don't think that my being a Muslim has got anything to do with my brother being the President of the United States." Brit Hume has, as far as we can determine, yet to issue a correction or retraction.

. Obama's recent announcement that he would forego public financing for the general election was portrayed, through selective editing of what Obama actually said, as a hypocritical flip-flop from his earlier statements. The distortion occurred on Fox News' June 19 Special Report broadcast, which also omitted the context in which Obama had said, "If I am the Democratic nominee, I will aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election."

In addition, across the board, Fox News personalities have uniformly declined to inform viewers of Republican challenger John McCain's problems with the public financing system, which was intended to reduce the role of special interests and the wealthy on campaigns.

I guess Fox is so biased that the Hillary Campaign even noted how fair Fox was and how uneven the coverage was of the Obama campaign ?!

Whatever, you guys are defending the indefensible, and you know it.

And McCain being protected by security while he goes to a war zone is a little different than posters and rally's for Obama while he's supposed to be on a fact finding trip as related to his Senator seat.

Lean back away from your screens people.. Ared's head will explode any day now.. it wont be because of the Dem taking office.. it will be from trying to keep all his/her hypocrisy and lies in one impossible giant spinning motion.. like a plate on a stick.

Red is like McCain, even when they accidentally get something correct, their honor and integrity were lost/sold so long ago, none of it means anything anymore.

Printing in German, while in Germany, Red... well it's kind of smart if you want to you know, communicate with the people of Germany while in Germany. Bush never did.. he just groped the Chancellor, and has 6 % approval rating by the German people.. Obama may draw a million people for his speech.

Maybe Red ought to email Fournier and request a photo with a tattooed swastika on Obamas forehead.. Like everything else.. if you imagine it hard enough.. I'm sure it will be as good as the truth for ya.

I guess when you are the Messiah (Peace Be Upon Him), you can be a member of any dang Senate committee you want to be - and claim that you passed something which puts the pressure on Iran - in order to boost your bona fides before a group of Israelis.

Changing the meaning of truth - so you can believe in.

Jeez, what about McCain and all his Spanish speaking and Spanish pamphlets? Next thing you know, you guys will be upset because Obama campaigns in English while in America?
Indefensible?! Nah!!! All this fuss is just laughable. Nit-picking BS.

By the time both campaigns get done with their smears, you'll thing we're voting for leader of a leper colony.

There Red's hypocrisy goes again.. hating the man for acting just like the GOPers he loves... about Israel.

Max:
How much does media advertising play into the way the reporting of news signifiies the presence of a candidate? And how does the Press keep an ethical and could I even add moral dimension to a line of inquiry with Presidential candidates or any candidate? And how do Ministers keep a sense of integrity beyound the "weight of the plate?"

There Eureka's hypocrisy goes again.. spooging over the Man (Peace Be Upon him) for acting like Bubba... about saying anything to anybody.

Max:
How much does media advertising play into the way the reporting of news signifiies the presence of a candidate? And how does the Press keep an ethical and could I even add moral dimension to a line of inquiry with Presidential candidates or any candidate? And how do Ministers keep a sense of integrity beyond the "weight of the plate?"

ARK. BLOG: I honestly don't think it has any effect to speak of. For one thing, virtually no advertising is spent by national candidates on print journalism. For another, they buy all the TV they can pretty much regardless of what the reporters say. I do think there's pressure on TV reporters, but it's more on account of the political inclinations of hte big bosses -- Jack Welch and Rupert Murdoch -- than it is about advertising dollars.

Still, ads wrap around news content. The potential for conflict exists.

Last point here Red.. nothing I have said has been in support or defense of Obama... it's all about you GOPers and your hypocritical lies.

Your upset because team Obama is playing the old anchor-baby-on-a-string playbook better than you guys these days (if in fact that's what they are doing).. not outraged because the playbook is just so wrong no matter who's running it. Nobody reveled in the GOPs success of it louder than you when the puppets were on your teams strings.

I've been able to see the destruction of the media for several years as they pick at issues and 'loop' unflattering stories over and over for days in an almost unbelievably cruel fashion, and call it "news". How stupid do they think we are? As for McCain's coverage vs Obama's coverage, of course the media is all over Obama, and frankly McCain should be relieved. He is showing his dementia more ever hour and he should pray for less attention. I'm shocked at how pathetic, sad, and angry McCain has become. He's nothing like the man I sort of admired in 2000.

If you were a reporter, where would you rather be, trailing around behind grandpa or strolling behind the cocky Democrat? I know the media should be more fair and cover both equally, but I can certainly understand the constant temptation to ignore McCain and I still think McCain should thank them for the favor.

When you're ready for the facts about McCain instead of blogalescent name-calling, check out Mitchell Bard's fact-based exposure of McCain's latest lying commercial at bluename

Another outstanding find NormaB.

>>In an nutshell, McCain's commercial blames high gas prices on Obama.<< HuffPo

Geesh. If he can do that before BHO takes office think of the devils they
can conjure up after BHO takes the oath. At least Bill Clinton gets a break.
.

>>I didnt think you could campaign on the tax payers dime, isn't he over their as part of his Senator job ? Doesn't that violate campaign finance law ?<<

Not at all. Read the law. McBush has done it several times. At least they are not using Air Force One and Air Force Two. When either of them require people attending CLOSED CAMPAIGN RALLIES to sign loyalty oaths then you will have a talking point.

The campaign lies don't bother me that much. Every candidate stretches the truth and most outright lie at some time in their campaign. What bothers me most about McCain is that he is losing his faculties. It's not just "blogalescent" name calling - it's a sad and sorry truth that we have a candidate in dire need of an intervention. The lies make me angry, but the growing dementia scares the bejeesus out of me.

Couldn't agree MORE, CiCi.

McCain is off his rocker. A politically incorrect way of stating the obvious: he's already in pre-senile dementia.

Forget his well-documented childish and violent temperamental outbursts (one sign of pre-senile dementia) which embarrass even his own party. Forget his calling his wife, Cindy, a "cunt" in public.

McCain's recent and ongoing public political gaffes are appalling.

Here's the deal.

If McCain chooses Mitt Romney as his Veep, and McCain "wins," America will ultimately be stuck with a bigoted male-model religious pimp whose "faith" (Mormonism) makes Scientology look like Einstein's musings.

Phony "golden tablets?" Fake heiroglyphics? "Seer Stones?" "Holy underwear?"

Moroni vs. Xenu?

WTF?

THIS is what the Republican party's come to?

Yes.

That's what Republicans are offering the American electorate for President.

A befuddled old pre-senile adulterer and bigamist with serious anger-management issues, coupled with a ruggecly handsome religious nut for Veep who believes in the non-existent planet "Kolub."

Either America is fucked or the Republican party is.

Senility? Religious insanity?

In our President and Vice-President?

Maybe so.

Maybe America's become Gotham - the IMAX Experience.
