With friends like these ... UPDATE

Ludacris does a pro-Obama ditty. "Obama is here" is the refrain. Sample line:

Hillary hated on you, so that bitch is irrelevant.

Also:

McCain don't belong in any chair unless he's paralyzed.

UPDATE: Obama camp condemns song.

Comments

It borders on ignorant (the line itself), but for some reason I find it funny.

And really, he's normally a half-way decent rapper. I've listened to him bust out some pretty clever lyrics. This, however, is just lame.

I will give him props for dissing on Bush and telling people to "get off their ass and vote." Terrible beat, though. Ugh. Sounds all grindy.

Proves the point about sometimes your friends can be your worst enemies.

This psychobabble suggests a person with deep seated hatreds, a vindictive nature, and a danger to himself and others. He is indeed ludicrous.

Would I be a racist for noting that he called a sitting US Senator 'bitch'? And implied that another sitting US Senator is crippled?

The Precious continues to drive a wedge between me and the Democratic party. If he can't control his 'supporters' how the hell is he gonn'a control the government?

I would not describe myself as a consumer of rap music--I've never bought any rap CDs and I've never tuned in to a rap station and listened. I'm a middle-aged white guy. That said, I would not switch the channel if Ludacris was on Letterman. I'd watch and listen. I don't care for the glorification of violence or cop-killin' or anything like that. But I've listened intently to some rap songs and some are interesting--catchy and clever, if you will. To me rap is kind of like tattoos--I don't really want any, but they're sometimes fascinating to check out.

This little ditty is good in places (okay, the anti-bush place), but rather mean in others. I can listen to the lyrics about painting the White House black and grin, but the notion of black people occupying 1600 Pennsylvania--in the words of Archie Bunker, truly scares the crapola out of some people.

I just hope the hysteria on Jan. 20th won't get out of hand.

As for "controlling his supporters"...huh? I doubt Barack is real crazy about this number, but I never want to see a muzzle on free speech.

If The One is not crazy about this 'ditty', then he should pronounce his displeasure and ask his supporters to be more respectful. If he can't or won't do that then he has no business in Our House.

Interesting to see if Obama denounces the song and artist.

The argument that will be made of course is - this only proves the point that Hillary supporters tried to make regarding a double standard. Hate and slurs are okay when gender based but not race based.

Going to be difficult to get the "bitches" excited to vote for Obama in the fall.

Marketing ploy by Ludacris. Lyrics are meant to incite, really not about Obama. All about the green. Will definitely help him sell CDs.

It all may be a marketing ploy, is The Precious OK with being used as a ploy by an artiste? I'd think he would at least have enough class to publicly repudiate this 'marketing ploy'.

Free speech? Certainly. AND this is a perfect lob-ball for his "Sista Soulja Moment!" Surely he'll see that...

Obviously this is an "inartful" comment by Ludacris, and Ludacris is not the Ludacris that The Symbol (http://tinyurl.com/6sxagu) (Peace Be Upon Him) knew before.

Although I am sure that Wes Clark is happy to be joined by Ludacris under the Obama (PBUH) bus.

Neither McCain nor Obama should be held resposible for "supporters" which are neither paid or offically on staff as a volunteer.

There would not be time in the day to comment about every idiot "supporter" that held up in inappropriate sign, blogged on a blog, or wrote a rap, hip hop, rock, or country song.

So 70%er, I say that Obama SHOULD NOT comment on this song until the Hannitys and O'Reillys out there manufacture a faux scandal out of it.

If a McCain volunteer in Peoria gets all carried away and starts pulling up Obama signs should McCain hold a press conference to denounce it? No

If the campaign manager for all of Texas told volunteers to pull up Obama signs, then McCain should hold a press conference and publicly fire the campaign manager.

There is a difference.

I'm not into rap, but I am into the freedom on speech. Are you going to hold Barack responsible for every negative? I don't remember Ludacris being Barack's friend or have I read or heard that Barack acknowledges him.

You are still looking for the small things to condemn him, but it's not working.

Our House, wow, what a statement? Who built "Our House"?

Hey Max,

Very enlightening to hear a bunch of NPR folks comment about Gansta Rap.

But its definitely news worthy if Obama is mentioned in a rap song.

We need to get a Media Matters Little Rock branch office to see the full scope of the Obama coverage from the once dependently liberal Arkansas Times. I think I can count the positive stories on one hand.

He tours Iraq, visits our soldiers, and gives a fairly monumental speech about combating terrorism with global cooperation in Germany ...

But none of that is newsworthy compared to a lyric from a rapper

Who gives a shit?

And I agree it could be a Sister Souljah moment. But really Barack already had that moment when he talked about the need for black fathers in America to start taking some responsibility and to stop forcing black mothers to raise children without a father figure. 'Member? then Jesse Jackson threatened to cut his balls off?

That was Obama making a clean break with the black politics of old...ie Sharpton and the elder Jackson

Just another item that was never covered by the Times

"If he can't control his 'supporters' how the hell is he gonn'a control the government?"

Oh God, are people actually trying to say this is "OH SO typical of Obama supporters"?

What make you of the often racist members of PUMA (Party Unity My Ass)? Should I ask, "If Hillary can't even control her 'supporters' how the hell she gonn'a control the government?"

Give. Me. A. Break. Simpleton.

And Obama is on video denouncing some of the materialism of rap. But really, should he go on record denouncing one of the slew of rappers who are probably producing similar content? Is it THAT big of a deal that some rapper most of you guys have never heard of, quite predictably, is Obama-biased? Isn't it OBVIOUS from what Obama's said and who he's condemned before that he won't like the lyrics of Ludicrous? Or do you just want him to grovel in submission every time something like this happens? Likewise, should Hillary go on record and denounce PUMA members?

"If he can't or won't do that then he has no business in Our House."

Oh Sev'ty Cent, I could easily take that one out of context but I won't. I'll say this: don't vote Obama if he so troubles your conscience b/c of an artist from that oh-so despicable genre of rap wrote some stupid-ass lyrics that CLEARLY reflects on the candidate himself.

But there seems to be a pink elephant in the room, and the truth is we ALL know why you're so hard on Obama, and it has to do w/ something that happened months ago.

P.S. Ludicrous is a sh*tty rapper. Always has been, IMO. By and large, mainstream rap is filled with crappy beats, materialism, and infuriatingly stupid lyrics. (Ludicrous, I recall, had a hit rap song w/ the cogent, "Move Bitch, Get Out Da Way" refrain.)

There is some really good, insightful indie rap out there, but you have to know where to look (although I'm almost exclusively an Americana/AltRock/Indie Rock type of guy). I have about 50 more links to wannabe rappers praising Obama/bashing his opponents on Youtube if anyone wants to cite them against Obama too.

In other news, Green Day and the Sex Pistols, endorsers of Obama, wrote some dirty, lecherous lyrics. Obama is expected to go on record denouncing them.

I say - that my vote for Him is already very iffy, and if he does not respond to this then it will be unattainable by any means.

I say - I will leave the President line blank on my ballot.

That's what I say JD.

In general, why is it okay to spew gender based hate.

Obama meets with Ludacris

Well, it's not "Puff, the Magic Negro" as heard on Rush's EIB network.

So 70,

Obama should respond because if he doesn't he will not get your vote and if he responds he will not get your vote either.

So I say Obama should not respond because doing so will not win any votes and not doing so will lose any votes either.

I vote for not responding.

Like clockwork.. A Red injects more blatant lies the Obama is a Muslim with "PBUH".

You, Ar Red, are a troll, beneath contempt. Why don't you just use the "N" word? You know you want to. At least it's insinuation of color would be half true.

"I say - I will leave the President line blank on my ballot."

Great. You can stop concern trolling and move on with your life.

Well of all the crazy excuses to seize on when proclaiming that you won't vote for Obama, lol. Ludacris has some new competition for rights to his moniker.

Everyone is voting for Jack
Cause he's got what all the rest lack
Everyone wants to back -- Jack
Jack is on the right track.
'Cause he's got high hopes
He's got high hopes
Nineteen Sixty's the year for his high hopes.
Come on and vote for Kennedy
Vote for Kennedy
And we'll come out on top!
Oops, there goes the opposition - ker -
Oops, there goes the opposition - ker -
Oops, there goes the opposition - KERPLOP!

What, a candidate is responsible for what pop musicians say? Good God, I thought everyone realized the purpose of teenager music is to make old people angry.

I thought our nation learned its lesson with the Dixie Chicks. I would hate to go back to those times of de facto government censorship of music.

I see that the Hillary crew does, however, reinforcing the notion of her being Bush Lite.

If you really want to know the media darling its John McCain

Here is a far more relevant video that Ludacris

Link in my name

I say, JD - that if he repudiates there is a small chance of winning my vote. If he does not then there is no chance.

And Ludacris is more to The Precious than some pajama clad blogger wanking off in his momma's basement.

"U.S. Sen. Barack Obama, contemplating a run for president, met privately Wednesday with rapper Ludacris to talk about young people. "

I'll have you know that "Peace be upon him" is an acceptable honorific in Judaism as well.

"Alav ha-shalom"

I also find your lashing out upon my use of the honorific telling, as you refused to comment on The Symbol's (PBUH) ties with Ludacris.

A blessing can still be a blessing to the receiver even when intended to be an insult. The one who uses a blessing intending to do harm commits blasphemy. I would be very careful playing games with Words of God regardless of political affiliation.

So you are accusing Obama of being a Jew or a Muslim? Either way it's a lie. Nobody here is fooled by your hiding behind Lude's.. you constantly inject "PBUH" no matter what the topic may be.

You are a slandering troll a bigot and a liar, Ar Red. You only confirm it with every comment. I have decided to remind you and possible infrequent or lurking readers exactly what you are up to. It's the least I can do.

What you do to well meaning folks attempt at understanding the news or conversation about the news- whatever their opinions might be - Is a completely dishonest and constant assault on any effort at reasoning based on facts. You only attack with slurs and at the best of times with half truths.. always with thinly veiled hints of bigotry.

This isn't FOX blog.. you have to answer for it... or at least accept the fact you will be called on lies and bigotry when you spew it forth.

When speaking of Messiah Holiness Citizen of the World Bringer of Change Civic Activist Senator Barack Hussein Obama, aka The Symbol (Peace Be Upon Him), and using that particular honorific, it does not call him a practicer of any particular religion.

It points out the arrogance of the presumed Democrat nominee, and the presumptuousness of his foam-at-the-mouth followers. You call President Bush arrogant? I point you to The Symbol (PBUH).

It is no different, except vastly more polite, than the words being used (expletives included) to describe the current President of the United States, or the presumed nominee of the Republican Party.

When people like you, Eureka, people of your similar viewpoint, and even the owner of the blog (on occasion) feel the need to use such vitriol in your colorful descriptors, then I will avail myself of the opportunity to use the same rhetorical tools to describe The Symbol (PBUH).

Apparently his holiness has decided that blacks and native Indians deserve reparations for past sins against them.

Obama said: "I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it's Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds."

This election could be the jackpot for blacks.

It doesn't matter what others say or do.. that's not the point, no matter how many times and ways you try to change the subject.

"PBUH" Messiah, whatever- is a lie, it is slanderous, and bigoted. It is who you are and what you do. You don't even deny it.. you just add on to it or try to change the subject rather ineffectively.. Even if you do finally find a worthy comparison of other lies and bigotry.. it does not in any way diminish the fact it is what you constantly do, AR Red.

I'm not even 100% sure If I am going to vote for Obama.. and yet, I will call out your lies and bigotry. Count on it.

What part of "Peace Be Upon Him" when speaking of The Symbol (Peace Be Upon Him) is a lie?

What detrimental declarative statement have I made against His Holiness (PBUH) other than one should wish peace for The Messiah (PBUH)?

What is bigoted about pointing out the arrogance of the Candidate of Change (His [PBUH] mind, when it suits Him [PBUH]) (PBUH) by utilizing similar nomenclature to that of late night comedians?

What is slanderous about wishing peace upon Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. (PBUH)? What claim is made that is not factual?

"It has not gone unnoticed by this campaign that Obama makes outrageous, narcissistic statements suggesting that his candidacy is what the world has been waiting for. Excuse me?" the adviser said. "What's going to happen when he parts the sea? What about all the fish in the middle?"

They're just following orders Eureka Springs, AR

Britney Spears, Paris Hilton ... Sen. Barack Obama? [LINK] blue bejeeus

Rush Limbaugh's so flabbergasted...the best he can do is call Obama a jerk!

Kevin Kostner endorsed Obama a few minutes ago on CNN.

Well, when you call yourself The Symbol (Peace Be Upon Him), say "this is the moment, as Nancy [Pelosi] noted, that the world is waiting for," create your own presidential seal, replace the American Flag on the tail of your campaign plane with "The Big O" (Peace Be Upon It), and already have a transition team in place, it has to be expected.

Trash is trash and rap music stands at the apex of that garbage dump. Once there was some semblance of civilization in this country. You didn't have to wear tails and a top hat to exercise some class. These things that have the audacity of claiming to be an 'artist' are laughable. I guess if you have the attributes of a clown you can really go far in this culture. Compared to these rap guys of today, 'Amos n Andy' was a cultural icon of the 50s. I'm being unfair to 'Amos n Andy' because that was a superb example of comedy and a class act.

Wow!!!!! Freedom of Speech, maybe? I'm excited to hear the clever wordplay of hip-hop artists being directed toward the political race. My goodness, how many times are black mothers, daughters and sisters described as "bitches" in videos airing everyday. Unfortunately, I don't see much dialog (Blog) around that. The real dilemma is, how might we challenge these "artists" to express their viewpoints without attacking the person. Secondly, how many times will "we" condemn Obama for the actions of those individuals who support him. It's an "OLD ARGUMENT" guys, let's stay rooted in an issue of substance. Change is happening, the man, his supporters, and nor his enemies are perfect.

Should be also conclude that Hitler wasn't such a bad guy? After all, his followers weren't perfect.

well if kevin costner endorsed obama why hold an election? it's all over.

"Should be also conclude that Hitler wasn't such a bad guy? After all, his followers weren't perfect."

Do you know what a logical fallacy is?
