And Arkansas casts its votes for ....

Hillary Clinton's name will be placed in nomination at the Democratic National Convention. No more than was done for Shirley Chisholm. Obama looks good here. More commentary on that point.

Comments

Duh.

I can't believe they ever considered otherwise.

What? Is it me?

Obama looks good here. That may be but the real point in my opinion is Hillary (and Bill) just look bad--very,, very bad to need that kind of ego-stroking affirmation. Hillary should have taken the high road and done the right thing but no--she is incapable of that at this point. Everything she does is about Hillary--forget the good of the Country. It's all about the good of Hillary in 2012. She's becoming pathetic.

Hillary is again being so disingenuous it is making her look like a sore loser, cry baby, power seeking-at-any -cost, ego-manic.

She should have done the eight thing which would have meant she stands up to her "Dissafected Hillaryites & self-proclaimed Radical Feminazzi" constituency and looked them in the eye and clearly issued an unequivocal statement that Barack won the primary process,, the right to be the candidate and that she wholeheartedly supports him and will do whatever she can do make sure he becomes the next President. And no, she won't be placed in the nominating process.

Instead she has to make him bend over to prove her silly little point and puff out her chest and let her adoring throngs vent and have their way. It's all about Bill and Hillary or it can't really be about anybody else.

I wish Barack was able to tell Hillary to take a walk at this point. He obviously can't do this as Hillary has him by the balls due to the politics of it all and there is no way he can win this battle right now but eventually i do think he'll have his way and the payback will be sweet. She deserves some shit coming back her way for this IMO.

I used to like Hillary. Even Bill. Not so much anymore.

How can someone as well spoken as Hillary not frame a response to her followers--even if they feel disaffected though Barack won fair and square--that addresses their "issues" but in a way that makes it all about Obama.

She blew it here. She loses many points in my book. And she should hear about it

Yes, it does make Obama and the Democratic party look good. Hillary did indeed wage an historic campaign (certainly a better and more qualified one than Geraldine Ferraro did -- and she had husband issues too).

Hillary will give a great unifying speech that will draw huge ratings (like Obama's filling that stadium in a one-day sellout isn't proof enough of what's to come) and make herself, the party and Obama look good in the process.

Meanwhile, Laura's got husband issues too. Here's the LOTUS (Leader of the United States) at the Olympics in Beijing, NOT looking so good.

Cricky bluename.

Who it is doesn't matter as much as if they've got good security. I suspect Bill Gwatney's killer would have done anything for the chance at one of the national key players.

Hillary missed an opportunity to do the right thing. She could have given the speech anyway. In fact, she was always going to get to make the speech. She had that in her pocket. She's making Obama bend over. She and Bill have yet to really get out there and talk up Obama the way they should.

It's all about Hillary and Bill with Hillary and Bill. I believe Hillary can live with 4 years of McCain over 8 years of Obama so she can go at it again in 2012. That is a growing sentiment among Democratic insiders as well.

*Turns back to IABL1969*

eark:

That is so funny. I love it. I've been shunned. Ya gotta love it.

It's not unusual, it offers closure and healing, it's a good thing for Obama, Clinton and the entire Democratic Party. To the ney-sayers, who cares what you think.

IABL1969

So, when The One gets creamed by the senile old man, will you still be blaming it all on the Clintons? Is there anything in the past quarter century that you can't find some connection to the Clintons?
Are you as batshit insane as the Repukes were during the 90s?

I'm glad someone remembers Shirley Chisholm. She won more delegates that John Edwards did.

Yet another Hillary supporter dumps on their party's candidate. All the while claiming it's not because of Hillary.

If it's not the Clinton's fault that their supporters are de facto calling for McCain's election over the "The One," then whose is it?

"So, when The One gets creamed by the senile old man, will you still be blaming it all on the Clintons?"

Wow, 70%er...looks like that move of putting Hillary's name in nomination is really working towards that "party unity"...

What else do you friggin' want?! Did you read the joint press release?! Do you want Obama to take his ball and go home?! Jeez...

Closure and healing? Oh please. Give me a break. Is that what we've become? So utterly narcissistic that we need our every disappointment salved and every loss avenged. Closure? I hate that word and that concept the way it it just thrown about to justify even the most unseemly-off putting behavior.

They want closure I say they should go see a therapist. You want to win the White House in 08 then Bill and Hillary should help Obama and the Dems out by getting on board enthusiastically and in the right way.

Once again Bill and Hillary's adoring fans can see no fault in their dynamic duo.

Here is my revised scenario for the nomination - After the Roll Call of the States, where Obama will win a slim majority, Michael Madigan will present a motion to nominate Obama by acclaimation. It will pass overwhelmingly, attaining instant unity for the party.

My previous scenario skipped the roll call, and just did the acclaimation.

Hillary doesn't own my vote, nothing she says can force me to vote for Obama. I never even liked her when she lived here.

What I want is for Obama to acknowledge that his supporters were out of line and to publicly call them out on it. I want for him to mention, by name, Markos, Yglesias, Aravosis, DeLong and publicly say that their tactics were divisive and unproductive. I want him to repudiate his claim that the 80s were good and the 90s were bad. I want him to explain his statement that Social Security is in crisis. I want him to admit that Bill Clinton is not a racist.

Until he does these things he will not win my vote, and Hillary cannot coerce me to give it to him.

I own my vote.

Pardon the sports analogies AND I'm too lazy to do the research, this is just what came to mind re "closure:"

Closure means go away, shut up and never (at least SELDOM) be heard from again.

With NO class: Mark McGwire

WITH class: Barry Sanders.

Neither Clinton could stand "closure," and Narcissus IS the model.

Oh yeah.....thanks Norma for proving that George W. Bush is off the wagon for sure. A bunch of us on this blog have had plenty of experience being drunk.....we knows it when we sees it. If GWB ever wakes up and realizes what he hath wrought....I bet he drinks a couple of gallons of Clorox® bleach. In my opinion that's the least he can do to make things right.

Don't know about your sports analogy expertise but your ability to completely miss the point is all intact.

Closure as far as the nomination is concerned has nothing to do with either Clinton, but to the 18 million who voted for her and the 20% or so who still refuse to support our nominee. If it achieves some 'closure' for them, it will be a very good thing for Obama. While you haters of all things Clinton keep harping on what the Clintons don't deserve and thinking of more ways to diss them, you miss the point that you don't hurt the Clintons at all. You are not even a speck on their horizon. You do, however, continue to hold back Obama and hurt his chances of winning in Nov.

So, keep it up and see how good your ability to insult the Clintons makes you feel on the morning after the election.

time will tell, as one can never be sure of what will transpire (as yesterday proved)

i expect that the day after the election, the two most irrelevant words in the english language for the rest of the history of the united states, will be

1. Bush
2. Clinton

and i for one, will celebrate it. in fact, i've already begun.

>>Closure as far as the nomination is concerned has nothing to do with either Clinton, but to the 18 million who voted for her and the 20% or so who still refuse to support our nominee<<

Note to the 18 million and 20%

Get Over It, Grow Up and Put Your Big Girl Panties (mostly) and Pants (some) On. We don't want to have to kiss your tiresome,, whiny, asses every day thru election day to redress every little perceived slight you feel you were so unjustly subjected to.

Get over it, see the bigger picture and get on board to get Obama in office.

IABL1969

I'm glad you think Obama's got this thing in the bag without my vote.

I wonder if he does?

It ain't gonna be over until Billy and Hilly say its over. You watch and see the Clinton's will pull a fast one. The Convention will end up a big mess. The party will be in shambles by November.

IABL, please find a frog to kiss. Maybe it will help that stench that comes from your mouth...

So many seem to take offense--personal offense--at simple, down-home, tell it like-it-is, plain spoken, common-sense, I'm OK--dysfunctional Hillary clingers are not OK postings. I wonder why that is? Anyone?

Really.

If someone has told you that you have simple, down-home, tell it like-it-is, plain spoken, common-sense - don't listen to them again. They lied.

What about the I'm OK--Dysfunctional Hillary Clingers are not OK part?

you good with that at least?

Huh?

Hang with it. Read it again. Slowly. It works. Admittedly it is a little awkward, could've used an editor for polishing, but it works. Makes sense in context of entire thread.

Oh, what a shock!!!!! I never would have guessed. You mean it isn't about Obama you mama? Do any of you really find this surprising if you have a modicum of experience with the clintons? If obama yo mama can't handle a broad and a pathetic loser like bubba how is he going to handle some of the really bad boys like the president of Iran or Vlad the Impaler of Ruskieville? They will chew him up and throw little obamas out. Wimps don't make much of an imposing threat to counter some people who have made no bones about destroying us. Oh, well, chalk another up to 'diversity' and multiculturalism and sensitivity and dialogue and empowerment....ad nauseum.

strangelove

i somewhat agree with you on the overall point. Obama does tend to come across like a wimp when you look at the aggregate, of how he has handled the "Hillary and Bill" thing. I would like him to quit kissing their ass.. And Now. Do it the right way and I think you'd win over more people than you'd alienate. Hell, do it without really making a point that you're doing it. Just make Hillary stand down. She and Bill can retreat to a corner and sulk and lick their wounds or they can Man Up and help Obama and the Country anyway.

Obama is giving them way too much in my opinion and it is making him appear wimpy. I worry about the long-term effects. He already skews wimpy so he needs to watch that. I'll bet you his wife goes ballistic with this Clinton crap. You know that is true.

You hit the nail on the head about his wife. I would hate to be in his shoes. He has to handle miss hillary with kid gloves and probably reap the whirlwind with his wife. Boy, anyone that has been married knows the bad situation he is in. However, he brought it on himself because everything that I see from him indicates wimp with a capital W. Men just don't respect that. hillary will kill it for him with probably women over 50. I hope that a lot of young folks vote because if they don't he is toast. Conservatives don't like McCain but some of them are terrified at the prospect of a wimp trying to stand up to tough men.

those photos of Bush in Bejing look like fakes to me unless he changed shirts in the stadium and has an extra arm growing out of his side.

Well, I guess that hillary has finally decided one question I have always wondered about. When you pit a female against a black which wins out. Does race trump sex or viceaversa? I guess that has been sorta decided. Looks like hillary is going to get a piece of the action even though she was defeated. I always suspected---sort of---that the white broads would win out. I guess I was sorta wrong. Who can ever figure things out where the lefties are involved. They have to give all of the selected groups a piece. Sometimes there just aren't enough pieces. Know what I mean?

You children turn down that TV and be quieter or I'm going to make you go to bed right now. IABL, now you've got strangelove masturbating to your anti-Clinton spew. Why after 8 miserable years would you be entertaining the neo-con wingnuts on this blog? Are you getting a paycheck from Rush too?

Let the political process play out and turn your anger towards Pryor and the Republicans who continue to work their evil. Quit with the Clinton hate. I am voting for Obama but shit like this sure is taking the fun out of it.

Deathbystudpidity----the term neocon refers to someone who believes in nation building for the sake of nation building. Let's make everyone a democracy. I do not endorse that at all. I believe our foreign adventures should include only those things that are in our vital interests. That puts me solidly out of the neo con camp. Get an education, kid.

Hey you white dummies you haven't thought about this but black people wants to take over and make you slaves.. They've want it because they think it is the only way to get even with whites. By God with your stupid white people's vote for abamanation for pres the blacks will be that much closer to inslaving you.
Stupid is a stupid does...

In theory there are different divisions within the Republican party, such as the neocon faction.

There were many different pirates, too, but they all sailed on the ship and they all got hung together.

If you're a Republican at this point in our country's evolution, that's all we need to know. What kind of Republican you call yourself is irrelevant.

Obama likes to run unopposed. This was forced on them by those that don't like how things have been run. We really don't know what will happen at the Convention, and trying to just say we do doesn't make it so. The fact that there was major cheating going on with the Obama folks starting with the caucuses and continuing in the RBC meeting may play a part.

Of course, the Obama folks think things are just fine, and that HOWEVER he gets the nomination is fine, whether there was cheating or not. THAT has many folks very worried, because those of us that won't vote for cheaters and bullies can just vote elsewhere.

If Clinton doesn't get the nomination, her as VP might help. Bet she would pick Obama as VP if she got the nomination.
