Better safe

Little Rock National Airport says it will be busy today with military flights bringing medical evacuees from Louisiana in advance of a potential hurricane strike.
Little Rock National Airport has been advised by the Little Rock Federal Coordinating Center (FCC) of the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) that an activation of the NDMS Patient Reception function for evacuees from Southern Louisiana ahead of Tropical Storm Gustav has been issued.

NDMS flights from Louisiana should begin arriving as early as noon, Saturday, August 30.  A maximum of 250 medical evacuees will be transported.  Patients will be brought to Central on military aircraft, transferred to ambulances and taken to local hospitals.

The airport has coordinated with MEMS and other airport and community agencies as well as Central Flying Service to use Hangar 4 at the Central Flying Service facilities.  This is the same facility that was used during the Katrina and Rita patient receptions.

Citizens may expect to see emergency vehicles in the area while supplies are being moved to the reception site tonight in preparation for receiving patients on schedule.

We anticipate issuing another update by 10am, Saturday, August 30.

Well I'm thrilled that my government is actually doing something to save people. Never thought I'd see it from this gang.

Though I would stop it if I could, I am enjoying the poetry of another Katrina during the Republican convention. God must hate Republicans.

Yeah well, Blackwater is the new National Guard... Government contracts for firing (human target practice) on American Citizens was and is these Chertoff Shock Doctors first priority. If you have friends or family who live in that area... call them now and tell them - learn to duck!

If the Hurricane don't get ya then the private militia will! Especially if you are poor.

Glad to see some action out of the Federal Government....But....might ought to get the Welcome Wagon ready to welcome a whole bunch of new permanent residents to Little Rock. The Bush Buddies buying up and remodeling New Orleans love to wave bye bye.

I know some Katrina victims who will finish out their days in Fort Baptist. They're not PhDs, they're not white, they're not bad people so I don't mind them living here. But when you talk to them, most are heartbroken that they can't return to the place of their birth, their home where their ancestors are buried. You all may think Fort Baptist is crap....but it's my home and I can't imagine leaving it under any circumstances. Using a hurricane as an excuse to pry people's hands off their property is a sin against mankind.

So I expect all kinds of faux compassionate relocation efforts out of Cheney-Bush this time...Let's help these poor people out before the storm gets here.............(so Donald Trump can buy up more of New Orleans!) A few more years and it will be reopened as NEOrleans....the Dubai of the South!
