How is that program NOT entrapment? Any of our legal eagles know??

Wow.

EY... its been a long time since I did criminal law, and even longer since law school, but just giving someone the opportunity to break the law is not entrapment, i.e. "bait" cars, etc. The police have to actively entice you to do something you would not have otherwise done. Merely being sneaky and letting you do something illegal is not entrapment. My professors are probably cringing at that description, but its close enough for our purposes.

Oh my goodness!, the ABC says. What's wrong with this teenager? Where did he come up with that? How brazen! Must be MTV! Probably raised by Atheists!

When I was his age I earned $1.30 an hour delivering flowers. I really can't remember when the first time was that I tricked an adult or stood up to an adult or had equal or greater power over an adult. Adults drove the bus, I was always just a passenger. I kept it between the lines because I knew there was always an adult around to thump my head if I didn't watch my P's & Q's.

I don't remember, but I'm sure I resented my junior status now and then. And I think I'd have jumped at the chance to combine being a super secret double naught spy, earn better than average money, and have the power to FK with an adult with the might of the State of Arkansas backing me up. Plus how cool to get to go in liquor stores and smoky dark bars! The only way it could have been better is if the ABC had had a prostitution sting set up!

And why don't they? Whose to say there isn't a direct connection between teenage oral sex and alcohol abuse? Why not send teens into Interstate rest stops to bust adults who would fondle them while they pee? Who's testing these new XXX stores going in around the state? Are we 100% sure there is no bestiality going on at yer local Humane Society? Why stop at beer?

I sincerely hope this teenager blows the top off the entrapment arm of the Arkansas ABC. Paying them to trick adults, showing them a new path to teenage power...is far more dangerous than a 19 year old with a 6-pack.

Question: Is the young perpetrator still employed by the ABC? And does he now have a driver's license and does the ABC know his address, unlike before the incident?

This kid is destined to to very well as a policeman or a payday lender or Republican politician.

Fitting punishment would be to make sure he is never ever able to become an officer of the law after such an abuse of power.. Kid or not.

And no, he doesn't need to be a cop when he's all grown up, mature, ready, yada, yada, yada. My guess is that he's the type who would figure that the gun on his hip makes him bigger as anybody. Sadly recruiting cops is so hard, the HR types will figure this was just a youthful indiscretion.
