Hellfire and political damnation
Here's a report on the whoop-up by the god squadders who'll feature The Huckster tomorrow in a Washington Capitol Mall event intended to pressure John McCain to be sure that hatred of abortion and gay people shape his presidential campaign. Message: If you vote for Obama, you're going straight to hell. No passing go, no $200. God said so.
The Huckster's peeps are also issuing ultimatums.

Comments
I don't know, maybe there is a God. I can't prove that there's not, any more than the wingnuts can prove that there is.
I also don't know, maybe there is a Heaven. Can't prove that there's not.
One thing I know for sure. If there is a God and there is a Heaven, and God has decided that folks like this are going there, then I would like to be first in line to volunteer for Hell.
Actually, it's hard to imagine a better definition of Hell than being condemned to spend eternity in the company of people who take Huck seriously. What would they talk about?
Sort of makes the whole Intelligent Designer thing an oxymoron.

It's just this simple.....if the voters of the United States are stupid enough to believe this crap and put these lunatic criminals in office for another 4 years, we deserve what we get. NPR finished up an interview with Glen Campbell last night and suddenly had Ray Charles singing God Bless America and without warning I broke out in tears, didn't see it coming.
Forget our once great nation, we live in a disorganized cesspool these days and it has nothing to do with pornography or dope...it's people beating the Bible for all it's worth in order to get to the MONEY. The lunatics have taken over the asylum and we're too far gone to fix it. Move is the only idea I can come up with....just move away.

No offence but for someone with such a strong and vocal opinion, you don't seem to have a lot of foundation. First of all, no true believer of God hates anyone just because of their sexual orientation, if they're really right with God. They may disagree with that lifestyle, but that's their choice and opinion. Just because somebody disagrees with something, it doesn't mean that they hate anybody who agrees with the same issue. Also, God's not going to condemn anyone to hell for voting for obama, or for anything for that matter. We all make mistakes [not to say that voting for obama is one] and we all mess up. Following God is about accepting that we're imperfect and going to him for help and forgiveness. It's not about judging or condemning anyone, or thinking that anyone is better. And whether you believe in God or not, you should know his supposed characteristics and meaning before posting something like this.

It is not the sin that will go to hell it will be the unrepentent sinner. You can't practice an abomination to God and believe that he will just look the other way. If you practice a sin you will experience God's wrath. This isn't my decision it is God's and he is very specific in the old and new testaments about this truth. If you practice the sin and remain unrepentent you will experience his wrath.

First of all, no true believer of God hates anyone just because of their sexual orientation, if they're really right with God.
Then there must be tons of people in this state who have no idea what their God is really about.
Some of them even post on this blog....

God does not send the sin to hell. He sends the sinner. God is a just God. If you think that you can continue to sin with no consequences you deceive yourself. The scriptures DO NOT teach that you will escape.

Jesus said a lot more about greed than he did about, say, homosexuality. Our nation is founded on greed and not only that, we reward that sin by giving those people greater respect and power. If you agree that greed is a sin, and believe that continual sinners are going to Hell, then Hell will be full of Americans.
Just sayin'.

Greed is a sin like any other sin. It comes from the sinful nature of man. Americans have sinful natures like all other nations. Sin is hardly unique to our culture anymore than it is to the muslim.

Thanks ES for the follow thru.
Isn't something happening here? I mean the '04 election was about gayness and god. Now like all surging trends it's trended down. There's the unregulated mortgage market sneaking up on god and all.
Religions raise their ugly heads very strongly every 70 years or so, then get dismissed by the god of USA, money. But while they are in ascendancy the religionists grab all the green they can get. When people are thinking of food and utility bills god gets pushed aside. The new hybrid car becomes a necessity, not church. When did your church ever pay your soaring utility bill?
When did a gay marriage ever destroy the value of our currency and price olive oil and walnuts out of the reach of a common wage earner and make simple ground beef a luxury?
It's time to return to science and real economics. If you need god, church and all the rest to maintain civility and respect for law then by all means embrace them. Just don't try to legislate them. It never works.

If anyone goes to hell it is of their own choice, fault, because all the sin debt has been paid. Paid in full by the blood of Jesus.. ye must be born again. You can't be born again without God drawing you to His Son. He was lifted up and therefore draws all men to Him.
Sounds simple, but you must have faith, believe!
Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
People strain at a gnat and swallow a camel.

Jesus....I go out for a nice dinner with a wonderful group of adults and come back here and find Fantasy Imaginary Friend World. Debts to Casper....sins......blood.....gnats.....camels.....do you all listen to yourselves? No wonder half the world starves and the other half is at war....the brain power, money and time of millions of crazy Christians are wasted on this fantasy of 5000 year old creatures that send out lightening bolts and lift falling planes with their fingers and require us to hop on one foot while rubbing our bellies.
Lunatics! Killers in the White House and you worry about imaginary hob-goblins that alternate from being your creator and friend to being the Terminator at Judgment Day. Oh how I wish I could invent a medical procedure that would allow me to bring back the dead for 15 minutes and 15 minutes only. I'd ask old dead Jerry Falwell hows the heaven thing going Jerry? Are you surprised that when you died you were just mighty dead? Do you feel like a fool wasting 50 years telling fairy tails and lying to people. No wait.....it made you filthy rich and famous didn't it?
If we had all the bases covered and no one was hungry, no one was sick, no one was at war.....I'd say fine....waste your time with mumbo-jumbo and fighting over dunking vs sprinkling. But we don't have all the bases covered, the world is a hell of a mess and far too many people waste the time they could be doing something helpful instead of spouting out made up hooey so they can bash the hell out of this group or the other. Please do things that hels the human race first and then you can have fun with your little god hobby.

I came here to post a link to a Beverly Hills men's stylists tips for 5'7" John McCain "Dressing for Defeat."
But first, I spied the comment from Nicole Renae, "They may disagree with that lifestyle." Though she (you ARE a SHE, Nicole? Because I once saw a drag queen in Vegas with EXACTLY your screen name) correctly used "orientation" instead of "preference," the use of the word "lifestyle" is a dead giveaway of anti-gay bigotry.
It's one of those "parrot" words one hears in church or elsewhere that sound good until you bother to actually THINK.
Like "methodology" (when "method" is perfectly fine but doesn't sound as pseudo-intellectual), or "envision" (when "think" is what's meant but isn't as pretentious), or using nouns as verbs ("Let's dialogue about your sexual preference.") or "faith-walk" for "religion." On and on.
"Lifestyle" is used ONLY in connection with gays. You never hear "the heterosexual lifestyle" because there ISN'T one.
What's the "heterosexual lifestyle?" The Pope? Charles Manson? Tiny Tim? Heidi Fleiss? Mother Teresa? Ted Bundy? Marilyn Monroe? Justin Timberlake? Britney Spears?
It's a stupid word used by stupid people to make stupid (bigoted) statements: a word that disintegrates upon actual THOUGHT (which bigots notoriously lack, being TOLD what to think).
There is no homosexual "lifestyle" any more than a heterosexual "lifestyle." The lives of homosexuals are as infinite and varied as those of heterosexuals.
Seeing the word "lifestyle" is ALWAYS a red flag of BOB (Bigot On Board), Nicole Renae.
And of course we DEEPLY appreciate your telling us what God does and does not think. SO reassuring. And SO IMPRESSIVE! My, my! I kiss your ring!
You're welcome.
Onto Shorty McCain's "Dressing for Defeat." A fascinating article with pictures, at clicky bluename.
The GOP, you notice, does its best to keep McCain out of a lineup of other candidates and politicians, since such photo-ops make apparent his shrimp-like configuration. They also won't let TV show him walking out to the podium and stepping up onto the concealed box that makes him look as tall as other human beings.
Finally, I wish the Beverly Hills stylist would email Cindy McCain a tip: teased and ratted bouffant flip hairdos went out in the '60s with Joey Dee and the Starlighters.
I learned a LOT from that Vegas drag queen.

Amen Norma, to all of it. I am not a cap or hat person. If I put one on all I can think about is that I have something on my head. Little shrimpy 71 year old men shouldn't wear ball caps unless their going out to help W pretend to clear some brush. McCain looks retarded in his ball cap. It doesn't look age appropriate. He might as well turn it around backwards and pretend he's a gang banger while he's at it.
It appears his clothing mistakes and his reputation for being all over the place encourages the totally gullible media to think of him as a Maverick when the truth of the matter is, John McCain doesn't give a damn about anything long enough to be any brand of consistent. He changes course because he can't remember what he said or voted on yesterday. He wears clothes he finds under the bed because he doesn't care what he looks like cause he's pretty sure we're ALL his fans.
And I got news for him......he lied when he said All Americans are Georgians today. Don't speak for me Mr. Shrimp, I wish them no ill will, but I have never felt like a Georgian...not the American one, not the one Russia's kicking around. All Americans are prune eaters today! Yeah....right!

dbi you are the one who'll be not just surprised but shocked to know you won't spent eternity in heaven. You'll be gnashing your teeth and crying for the torment you'll be in. You have a chance now to avoid that pain if you'd stop letting your ass do your thinking for you and stop your mouth from breaking wind.
Be serious you J#^#^&$S

Rep for obama in what way do you think the world could be made better?
I won't brother you with a crazy question like that because I know the world will not get better. It will only get worse.
After tribulations God will make it better... when he sends His Son back.

oh, I will blog more on that thing. I would cut out daylight savings time.
I would cut out property taxes for homeowners. I would send all illegals back or else they'd go to jail. I would cut out abortions. Would make it where queers would not want to be suspect.
Fix it so mothers would not have to work to help make ends meet.
I would put all the oil ceo's, etc., in jail for stealing our money at the pump.
I would see to it that school would start after labor day and would end the last week in may.
I would see to it that all factories would shut down for two months each year. I could go on and on.
So there are many things that could be done to improve the world around us.
