The belly of the beast

State Democratic Party Chair Bill Gwatney told a crowd in Benton County Saturday night that the party was gaining strength in the Republican stronghold. Hard to imagine otherwise, given the last almost-eight years.

The Republican 'brand' has not been less well received in my lifetime. The fact that polls don't show the Democratic candidate benefits from the Republican disdain is troubling. I still believe, however, that our presumed nominee knows how to eliminate the competition and when push comes to shove, he will do so once again. My VERY Republican bro-in-law who has never voted for a Democrat in his life because of the faith issues, was all set to vote Democratic this year, tho he admits he would not have advertised his vote, but now plans to sit out the election. I, for one, am ready for this to be over so we can analyze what really went down, not just how the talking heads think it will go down.

The Democratic nominee would have been a shoo in this election cycle, but not a black man with a muslim name. Leave it to the Democrats to screw everything up. They have a history of that in electioneering times. Ark. will go for McCain.

With a glowing endorsement of Louis Farrakan, it's no wonder that Obama isn't even more popular.
If Obama were more honest about his plans to tax everyone and give the proceeds to the United Nations to fight world poverty and his plans for reparations to blacks, American Indians, and native Hawaiian's, I'm sure that his popularity would flourish. I know that all good Americans want to borrow money from China for new social programs, and then send off massive new tax dollars to the UN.

This election did seem to be a lock. You have to wonder how the Democrats could have screwed it up.

I assume John McCain will start producing those Farrakan, UN, Reparations commercials any day now.

It's not too late! The delegates could still nominate Hillary!

As far as NWA goes, when you have nothin...a little looks like a lot.

What would you expect from a Red Democratic State that'll vote for anyone or anything as long as it's got the name of Democrat in front of it."Stupid is as Stupid does".

I said long time ago the damn demcrap party is dead. Only gullible people who'll love to hear lies will ever vote for a crapper again.
Republican is bad but nothing is as bad as those democraps are!

Good Thinking.

The Repubs have held office for 20 or the last 28 years and the only decent economy was during the democrat.

You've got to vote democratic to live like a republican.

Gwatney is trying hard. He has guts and likely gets some good advice from Beebe. It is hard for good country folks to vote for Obama.

How can Gwatney say that they are gaining strength in NWA, when they could not convince a single Democrat to run in that Congressional district? It's almost as bad as the Republicans allowing the 3 remaining Districts go unchallenged.

People need to realize that Bush was a successful president. He got the policies implemented that he wanted.

The past 8 years was not just the failure of a president.
The past 8 years was the failure of Republican ideology.

Mix this with your kool-aid charleneV :

Rasmussen Reports tracks this information based upon telephone interviews with approximately 15,000 adults per month and has been doing so since November 2002.

Among men, 34% are Democrats, 33% Republican. Forty-four percent (44%) of women are Democrats, and just 30% claim the GOP as their party.

Forty-one percent (41%) of government employees are Democrats while 31% are Republicans. Among entrepreneurs, 36% are Republican, 34% Democrat. Those who work for someone else in the private sector lean Democratic by a 38% to 31% margin. "

Say what?

Jim, I support the Greens but I hope you guys can do more than run marginal candidates that I throw my money away on. I like Abel and Rebekah but why not some quorum court nominees, and finally you may have company in the state legislature. Seems with Fayetteville's strong green presence you could find a Green candidate to run for the city council. Then there's school boards, county offices, and the list goes on.
The Demos are at fault for not helping fund a Third District Cong. candidate nor have they ever gone out of their way to support one.

Just remember that Obama won by getting delegates from states that will never vote D in the national elections. The Rock show is revealing it's realities. The Party needs to align their primaries very similar to the electoral college.

Quoted, not plagiarized. What You Have to Believe to Be a Republican:

1. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

2. The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

3. Government should relax regulation of Big Business and Big Money but crack down on individuals who use marijuana to relieve the pain of illness.

4. "Standing Tall for America" means firing your workers and moving their jobs to India.

5. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multinational corporations can make decisions affecting all humankind without regulation.

6. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

7. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

8. Group sex and drug use are degenerate sins unless you someday run for governor of California as a Republican.

9. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

10. A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our longtime allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

11. HMOs and insurance companies have the interest of the public at heart.

12. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

13. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

14. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

15. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is a solid defense policy.

16. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

17. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.

18. You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have a right to adopt.

19. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the 1980s is irrelevant.

20. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist; but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

"why not some quorum court nominees"
Elwood,
If you'll check the Arkansas Greens webpage (click on name), you'll see we do have some Greens running for county, F'ville (non-partisan race), and legislative seats, including a strong possibility for winning House District 39. When so many people still mistakenly believe that it's illegal to have more than 2 political parties, it's difficult to make people aware that there are alternatives, without some high-level visibility. Probably in the next election cycle, we'll more than double the number of candidates again and increase the number of Greens in office.

Look at how long it took the Ark. Republicans to grow into such a staggering powerhouse in this state (emphasis upon the staggering).

Way to go JIM! And I apologize for being negligent about the website/news. I did have it book marked.
Yes, I was a Young Republic back in the early 60s about the time Winthrop R made his big push.
I went around helping organize small county enclaves of republican support. The pay was lousy.
There were others who were active and bankrolled by Rocky. Sorry the Greens don't have such
a sugar daddy. But early ARky republican growth began at a very grassroots level when it was a One Party state, before Rocky was nominated for guv. That was my point.
.

Going to check out the Green party website. I seriously thinking about them this time, after all the crap the main parties have been throwing around.

Never thought I'd want to vote anything but Dem...
