The GOP talk machine

Overnight I received a statement from Arkansas Republican Chair Dennis "What we need is another 9/11" Milligan re Joe Biden's selection:

"There are few people that Barack Obama could have chosen who would be as out of touch with Arkansans as he is, but he managed to choose one such person in Joe Biden.   Obama has proven yet again that his inexperience and lack of connection with Arkansas values makes him a dangerous choice for the White House.   I am confident that Arkansans will quickly recognize the stark differences between their values and hopes for our next Commander-in-Chief and what an Obama/Biden Presidency would mean for our country.   We must all ask ourselves, 'is Barack Obama ready to lead'?"

And if there is one thing we want in our LOTUS, it's "Arkansas values." 50th among world governments? Perceived as hick laughingstocks by the rest of the civilized world who simply won't let Central High go, after all these years? Economically impoverished? Religiously bigoted? Educationally lagging?

"Arkansas values." Yeah. That's the ticket, GOP.

Meanwhile, we've rethunk the value of all things Cindy.

and pray tell us dennis what you will say if JM7 selects Romney for VP ?

Dennis (or the RNC) had that blurb prepared ahead of time and just inserted the name of the VP nominee when it was announced.

I know the guy with 11 houses and a quarter of a million household expense budget is certainly in touch with me. Amen NormaBates and muleboy.............

Can you just imagine discussing presidential politics or anything of substance with Milligan and a minute and a half after he had exhausted that days talking points he would have know clue what you are talking about or what he is supposed to say. The Republican party is in good hands with this clown.

"know" means "no" in the above post. i need to check these things before posting

Or we can just ask ourselves "What choice do we have?" Better the inexperienced person with good sense and a value system that supports quality of life for most Americans rather than a hothead whose values call for limited personal rights for many American, economic growth on the backs of the middle class, and war as the means to settle diplomatic differences. Yes, I would have preferred Clinton as president, but I was in the minority, and we are still a democracy, sort of. He does look and talk like a leader, and we need that now more than ever. He will get the experience fast enough once he gets in office.

The Symbol has lost my wishes of Peace Be Upon Him.

The Messiah is nothing more than a false prophet of change.

Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., has now thrown everything - including the central premise of his campaign - under the bus in his pursuit to be the rubber-stamp of Nancy Pelosi.

Say what you want about Hillary!'s pandering, she's got nothing on BHO.

The Christian Right that put Bush over the top in 2000 and 2004 sincerely believed that God was leading their thinking. I heard one preacher say, on Friday night after the 2004 election, that "God won a big victory Tuesday" in reference to GWB getting elected. His administration has been anything except a reflection of Christian values.

Before anybody gets too self righteous, they need to get their own house(s) in order. That is almost a full time job and should keep them from meddling too much in anyone else's business.

Talking pints can be fun when they actually mean something. Like AR Red.. when s/he uses symbols.. we all know it means s/he's a modern day KKKer conducting cyber lynching at every possible chance. That's not fun and it should be considered a warning to the folks who have to protect the Dem presidential nominee.

As for the head of Reds AR Party - Arkansas Republican Chair Dennis "What we need is another 9/11" Milligan (equally mad and dangerous)... the talking points are mired in far less honesty than even Red can muster.

When I say - One House, One Spouse, Obama '08.. It's a talking point actually based on two facts!

You can't find two facts on this post or in this thread by a Republican McCain supporter.

McCain presents himself a s a sitting Senator... when he has shown up to work as a Senator on less than a few days at all this year. McCain doesn't know how many homes he has or what kind of car he owns. McCain has a zero record on his votes for half the population of Americans.. Women. McCain, never should have been admitted into Naval flight school, graduated 800th in his class and on his 5th plane crash he was captured and tortured. The only three lessons we need to learn from that... is nepotism in the Navy is a dangerous thing for all other soldiers.. it failed us.. so does every needless war from Vietnam on through all of McCains experience. And we should never ever torture anyone, we should honor our laws and treaties and prosecute those who order or conduct or fail to report torture. All of these lessons escaped McCain, or at the very least he sold them out in order to obtain some other goal like more power for nothing more than power itself.

The only thing about McCains experience we need to remember is it is both a miserable failure and dangerous to our economy our troops and our nation under a rule of constitutional honored law.

"on the campaign trail in 2008, the worst thing about Obama is that he might not mean what he has said, while the worst thing about McCain is that he might mean exactly what he has said"

Red....you're supposed to be in church! I'm with Norma, as much as I love my state, the last thing on earth I wish for is for the rest of the world to adopt Arkansas values. We're one backward sumbitch. Learning to navigate in this state has been hard enough without having to do such nationally.

I hate to bring up the Duggar family, but when a couple reproduces 17-18 times, you gotta figure they are so impressed with themselves that they think they're doing the world a favor by cloning themselves over and over and over. I like me pretty well, I likes my wife better, but I think one each is plenty for a state the size of Arkansas. I think one state always in 48th place is enough....the last thing we need to do is train other states to be like us....to have Arkansas values.

Furthermore....if Arkansas took lessons from one of the more successful states and suddenly we started moving up from 48th.....where would the Dennis "9-11, Jr." Milligans live? Sucks to be us at times.

I think Nancy Pelosi said this morning that she invested in T-bones natural gas adventure to get away from the use of fossil fuels.

Fossil fuels: fuel derived from prehistoric organisms: any carbon-containing fuel derived from the decomposed remains of prehistoric plants and animals, e.g. coal, peat, petroleum, and natural gas.

I guess my favorite speaker of the house is now intoxicated on Obama water and should be put in the drunk tank until the tap is shut off in November.

Actually, this announcement would've been worded exactly the same regardless whom Obama had chosen. It's a fill-in-the-blank form the GOP keeps on hand for just such an opportunity. You'll get to see the Democrats' version when McCain announces his veep.

21% of hillary supporters say that they will vote for McCain. That is after biden was selected. Personally, I think that biden will be a tough candidate. In a debate he can hold his own. I think that he is a guy who doesn't know when to shut up but he should fit in well with the demo agenda. Unfortunately, he highlights obamayomama's biggest deficit----lack of experience.

Ark Red & strange are back from Karl Rove's weekend disinformation school. Severus is late getting home.

Ok Norma Bates sometimes youre funny. But hail, if Arkansas is sooo bad how come all these other folks are coming in here and tearing up our deer woods to build homes. By the droves they're a'coming.
Just last winter we were over in Bugger County approaching our favorite turkey run....had not been there in few years...and bam..the road opened up to a huge house. Back to town and we asked. The guy at the tire store told us it was a very rich German Duchess with a wild daughter.
Then there's Bella Vista and Hot Springs village, full of Northerners who all seem to like our values quite good. And Bella Vistians have to build new fishing lakes to accommodate all of them. Bull Shoals Lake is beginning to get crowded once rich people in NYC found out about it. Even Dick' Cheney's daughter, Mary, and Mary's wife bought over there so, it cannot be that bad.

It may be LavaSoapNation to others but realtors up here are counting the cash.

hillary all the way. Let's sabatoge obamayomama and crown miss hillary the real winner. She got 18 million votes so let's see that those 18 million are heard victoriously.

We must rally the troops around miss hillary. Remember, miss hillary, Arkansas, feminism, multiculturalism, diversity, gloria steinam.

ARed and Strange name-callin' again

". . . Propagandists use the name-calling technique to incite fears and arouse prejudices in their hearers in the intent that an invoked bad name will cause hearers to construct a negative opinion about a person, group, or set of beliefs or ideas that the propagandist would wish hearers to denounce. The method is intended to provoke conclusions and actions about a matter apart from an impartial examinations of the facts of the matter. When employed, name-calling is thus a substitute for rational, fact-based arguments against an idea or belief, based upon its own merits. . . "

Name-calling instead of intelligent discourse and tolerance of differing opinions has a long history. Hitler did it, Stalin did it U.S. Citizens and Soldiers did it in War I, War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq I, Iraq II, Afghanistan, Panama, Grenada etc. It's a lot easier to discriminate, abuse or kill, when by calling them "sub-humans," "capitalists," "reds," "imperialists," "heinies," "krauts," "japs," "nips," "gooks," "wops," "ragheads," "wogs," etc., you demote them to things instead of people.

It also seems to have become the hallmark of those unable to defend a political belief or tenet with facts, just as profanity has always been the recourse of those too inarticulate to express their passions in intelligible English. . . ."

Click for a reflection

I actually like Obama's pick of Biden for Vice President. Biden will certainly be entertaining with his colorful language and hot temper. Biden was one of the first to take notice to the fact that Obama was the first clean well spoken black man to run for president.

Frankly, I was kind of afraid that he would pick Hillary. Hillary would have been a grand slam guaranteeing a victory in November. Biden doesn't really add much, other than to make Obama look inexperienced in comparison. I wonder if Obama has already written Biden's speech to ensure that Biden doesn't plagiarize some British leader's words. Given that Biden is Catholic, I am hopeful that the church will pressure Biden to influence Obama to be more open to a pro-life agenda.

Given that Senator Biden voted for the Iraq war resolution, and that he had access to the exact same intelligence (given his committee assignments) that Bush had access to, it makes the Biden pick very interesting. Senator Biden should have had the good judgment to not vote for the resolution, unless he thought that Sadam Hussein was truly a threat. Obama's pick of Biden sort of undermines him with the moveon.org kooks.
