I've had a 12 dollar bet with my dog for months that Hillary would be Obama's pick for VP. I assume since you can kill and skin your dog in Arkansas it isn't illegal to place a wager with them. Anyway, if Obama wants to win, he'll pick Hillary. If America wants to lose they'll pick McCain. Funny I've been taking Zogby polls since they started, but I've had no notification of a new poll in about 3 weeks. Who is Zogby polling.....Utah residents only?

It seems to me if Nader were half the spoiler folks claim him to have been.. Obama and many other Dems might not be consistently running to the right.and only to the right.
I lost the bookmark with what appeared to be reliable figures, but in 2000,iirc, 3 million so called Dems voted for Bush. Far more than the number who voted for Nader. yet so many of us Dems turn on the guy who affected Bush's stolen election less and spoke far more to the issues and end results we Dems are looking for. It never ceases to amaze me. why this is the case.
Obama chooses a conservative VP (Hillary or Bayh etc.), it may be a winning strategy, but I will most likely vote for Nader. I'm trying my damnedest to work for change within the D party, but when that doesn't happen and the D's make it clear it wont happen anytime soon, I will vote somewhere else.

If I remember right, Zogby had Kerry way up just a couple of days before the election. Just saying.

I agree with Nader. I don't think he's that dumb either. The question is he that arrogant though?
I think he's going to pick Hillary.

"According to Nader's logic, Obama may dislike Hillary, but will conclude he has no choice but to get over it if he hopes to leave next week's convention in Denver with a unified party and a decent shot against John McCain in the fall: "The polls show 25 percent of her supporters have not gotten on board."
"He's got to be very concerned by the [neck-and-neck] polls and by what happened at Saddleback," added Nader, referring to the recent candidates forum hosted by evangelist Rick Warren. "He got beat in Saddleback - big time."
Well this is, in effect, what Ci.Ci and I have been saying. I think he's absolutely right. I just hope Obama's handlers are smart enough to get the message and that Obama is man enough to act on it.
According to Nader, Obama has 75% of Hillary's supporters. That's a lot higher than I would have estimated. Maybe those include the ones, such as I, who are reluctant, not enthusiastic, let alone passionate, supporters of Obama.

I do not think even a Hillary Vpship could save the I will disk-target our ICBMs, stop the space program and bury nuclear energy programs cleverer.
Not since the fighter jock opened the doors and shouted
"Bomb, bomb, bomb - bomb, bomb, Obama".

Good call, DBI - last one here was 8/1... I also have to point out there is no NEED to kill a dog before skinning it - recall: this is Farm Bureau country, in the Land of the BAD Ledge!!!

Just ask Huck's son; he knows all about killing/skinning dogs...Republican boys will be boys.

I don't know what Obama plans to do. But I hope he picks Hillary.
To go back and re-hash all the pre-nomination arguments we had here, I don't think
he can win without her. With his polling numbers in the dumpster,
again, I can only hope he's smart enough to realize this.
On the other hand, I also hope Grampa Munster picks the Huckster.
But I think HE may be smart enough to realize what a disaster that
would be. But, damn, wouldn't it be fun for us?

"I don't think he's that dumb," said Nader, commenting on widespread speculation that Obama's choices are down to Sens. Joe Biden or Evan Bayh, or Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine." Ralph Nader
Some may not like Spoiler Ralph, but I give him credit for being a realist, sort of.
It takes mucho ego to run for president and unfortunately ego is not always governed by intelligence
such as in the case of Obama. Yes, Ralph, HE COULD BE THAT DUMB. I would like to be the first to eat my words.
Meanwhile I would direct my political friends to yesterday's LTEs in the ADG, specifically Mayor John Gray's letter concerning corporate controlled candidate selection. It's the first letter...on my name.

Meanwhile, over at the place where CASH TALKS and BULLSHIT walks
we find BHO slipping :
High in July .661
Current ... .619
Meaning with McBush at .383 ,
BHO cash talks 23.6 more than McBush.
Or, if numbers baffle you the graph is on my name.

So is miss hillary going to sobatage obamayomama at the convention or is he going to name her his vicepres? If he doesn't he is toast. His chances of winning the election are nil because she will ensure that he isn't elected. She has got to make the 2012 call.

I'm just happy to see that Max can type the words: RALPH NADER. -- even if it's in the use of hopeful Democratic gain. If Obama agrees to let Nader debate, he's probably got my vote. If he doesn't, I have no choice but to vote for Nader.

obamayomama is even down among key demo groups. So is miss hillary going to step in and save the day? "I told you so".

I'm really hoping that obamayomama wins and the demos increase their control of the Congress so there is no restraint on them. The only way that the country and the republican party is going to get real about the world we live in is if we face a disaster. People just don't have an incentive to change unless they are forced to. If the republicans are soundly defeated and the demos do what they are best at, the public will begging for a change in 2012. Anything with the label demo will be anathema.

>>The only way that the country and the republican party is going to get real about the world we live in is if we face a disaster.<<<
by strangefeller
P.S.
We did face a disaster. It's was called the Katrina-NOLA disaster. It's still going on. Cheney's subcontractors are raking in billions on no-bid contracts. Thousands are still without homes.
Brownie has a good job doing disaster planning for a Rwing group in Colorado.
That was a natural disaster.
The other disaster was instigated by Misters Republican, Cheney, Rumsfield, Rush, FOX, Miers,
and yea, and what's his name.
It's called Iraq.
It's still going on too.
There is another disaster too. The mortgage banking meltdown. It was initiated by no-regulation
Neo-Cons and long time Neo-con advocate Allan Greenspan. It will hit hundreds of trillions and wipe out thousands if not million of stockholders. Newt Gringrich thinks unregulated markets are the answer to everything.

Anybody who drops their support for Obama based on his veep candidate and votes for Nader should be horse whipped. Just because you don't get your way for a FREAKING VICE PRESIDENT choice you're willing to give the election to McCain! IDIOTS! No wonder this country is in such bad shape. Where did you folks go to school? I say that's the ones we should shut down because you didn't learn a thing in civics class. Government is about competence not cry babies.

I realize it is still early, but a snowball is a snowball no matter the date, so I hope the Obama people get their head's out and start paying attention to the mood of the public. To accomplish anything, Obama has to first win. This was an uphill battle from the get-go, and they are trying to coast, for crying out loud. (Not trying to offend the delicate senses of a couple of Obama screamers, here)
You are correct Sky, it's time for serious reflection and a serious ticket that will seal the deal. I'm really worried about this first choice of Obama's. If he picks an unknown, barring some big stumble on McCain's part, Obama is in trouble.
