Yep, she passes the test
Thanks to Bill for the link to an Alaska newspaper that shows the Republican vice presidential nominee is a believer in teaching "creation science." Somebody who's raised her hand in solidarity with our former governor. Great. Not that that will necessarily harm her among the electorate.

For you bloggers who believe in omens, signs and portents, Sarah Palin came in second in that 1984 beauty contest, losing to a lovely young black woman.

Oh, yeah: Alaska isn't exactly a mecca for blacks, who make up just 3.7% of Alaska's population (compared to around 15% of the US as a whole). Make of that what you will.
But I'm guessing Sarah didn't thank Jesus that night for her runner-up crown.
Pray harder, Sarah, pray harder.

McCain is done IMO. We'll see but I think the Republicans just handed us, and the country, a gift. She just won't play well at all.

It would seem from the local Alaskan Media that she brings some baggage with her. The Anchorage Daily News has a lot of sidebar links.

What's REALLY interesting about McCain's pick for VP is twofold:
1) the Republican faithful will publicly make even GREATER fools of themselves spinning to justify and support Palin's non-existent "readiness" for the position even though she herself, uh, publicly stated just a month ago that she had no idea what the VP actually DID;
and 2) despite the private gnashing of teeth behind the Republican scenes at this appalling choice (as Salon put it, paraphrasing, Palin's only "qualifications" are that she is a right-wing ideologue and possesses two X chromosomes), of Sarah Palin for VP . . . as she is made to look more and more unqualified and more and more a cynical choice, the Republicans can hardly back down now and choose somebody else in the next few weeks in the face of stinging criticism lest they look "weak" and "indecisive."
Karl Rove's ONLY choice is to nuke Obama's character with lies and the usual Swift-Boat tactics, to distract from Republicans' Presidential and Vice-Presidential choices.
Except Americans have caught on to that kind of negative overkill and overt lying during the last eight years. It's likely to backfire this time, and Republicans know it.
Republicans offer a man who, even by his own colleagues and life-long friends, is called "temperamentally unsuited" to be the leader of the free world.
No shit. He's violently tempered, an impulsive defensive hothead and mad as a hatter.
An aged and ill old man who has been increasingly sequestered from the press and trotted out only under tightly controlled conditions.
An adulterer and bigamist with a completely undistinguished military education and record who survived POW camp, like many others, though he thinks that makes him special and entitled.
Joined, now, by an idological bigot for VP (anti-women's rights, anti-gay, pro-gun lobby) and "creationist" with virtually no significant political experience of any kind anywhere, certainly not in major issues like national security or the national economy, who is currently under investigation for corruption in her home state for a petty vindictive firing of a state official.
All Karl Rove can do now to distract from the Republicans' astonishingly weak and cynical ticket that's hawking nothing but four more years of the horrific Bush regime's rape of our coffers and Constitution is to launch the most negative political attacks, lies and smears ever seen in America.
Or, as one wag said today, speaking of cynicism, "Their only hope is for another terrorist attack on American soil, or somebody assassinating Obama, or McCain dying a peaceful death, so they can suspend the elections and start over."

"Creation Science" is a conflict in terms. Creation is not science and Science is not creation.
Creation is written in a book over 2000 years old never having been updated ( required or otherwise )
Science is written in multiple forms of media and is ammended all the time based on what we learn and observe with our God given brains.

"Except Americans have caught on to that kind of negative overkill and overt lying during the last eight years."
I wish I had your faith. I don't. I thought most Americans caught onto this crowd in 2000. And again I thought the same thing 4 years ago. My new motto in this regard has become: "Never underestimate the stupidity of the American people."
I hate to be that way, but that's how I see it.
