'Brazen cynicism'

That's the descriptive Brummett gives John McCain for his actions in the financial bailout. It fits in just about everything else he's done. Add some descriptives -- "erratic" and "scary" -- from Paul Krugman in the economic context.

Not too worry. The "Huckabee" show was a precursor, I now believe, of the new McCain attack line. William Kristol is now urging Sarah Palin to use Jeremiah Wright as a cudgel. For those who missed it, Huckabee's first Fox News show included a segment on Obama's former pastor.

Does Sarah Palin really want to get into a pastor throw-down?

Comments

"Bush confident bailout bill will stablliize the economy". See the latest Yahoo news headlines.

With those words I am tempted to begin looking for cover, actually 'bout 5 acres so I can start raising some chickens & a hawg or two.

With an apology to W. Churchill, never in the annals of history have so many been so mistreated by so few.

Heckauva job there bushie, wallstreet, congress.

Travler, I thought the same thing when I saw that Yahoo headline: if Bush is confident then I am not.

Does Palin want to get into the paster throwdown?

S(n)akes alive! Bite your tongue(s)!

I think not.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. soldiers have donated more presidential campaign money to Democrat Barack Obama than to Republican John McCain, a reversal of previous campaigns in which military donations tended to favor GOP White House hopefuls, a nonpartisan group reported Thursday.

Troops serving abroad have given nearly six times as much money to Obama's presidential campaign as they have to McCain's, the Center for Responsive Politics said.

Sure she does. Democrats can never bring themselves to go as low as the Republicans. They always win the mud fights because they don't care what they have to say or do. 'Character issues' has always been the sheep's clothing for this bunch.

Kristol is a dangerous idiot.

He personifies the phrase, "often wrong but never in doubt." He has nothing but ideas so bad they guarantee disaster but he is shocked that they are not shouted from the house tops.

"McCain can tell voters we're almost certainly in a recession, and things will likely get worse before they get better"
Wm Kristol

Anyone want to take bets on how wrong Day Quayle's former chief of staff is on this one?

If people realize we're in something much more serious than a recession all BHO needs do
is attribute it to 8 years of Republican.

Ark Traveler, BLACK OCTOBER is right around the corner.

Have enough cash around to live on for 1-2 months cause that's how long it can take to get
money from your "insured" accounts.

A good article that succiently summarizes the events leading up to our current economic woes. If your stress level is high I suggest you go to the fridge, get a cold one, go out back and watch birds fly or a long walk, good for ya, this is not!

Whoops my link did not come through and I missed an instruction. Try the link below.

Crazy white pastor OK, crazy black pastor not OK.

Clicky blue name to see Bill Maher on why you shouldn't judge mccain by the color of his skin.

An interesting nugget buried in this Washington Post "Media Reports":

"And the worst may be yet to come for Palin; sources say CBS has two more responses on tape that will likely prove embarrassing. "

Naomi Klein on Bill Maher describing why the "meltdown" was necessary.

click name.

Great link, eLwood!

If you haven't read Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein you should. It's a quick read and explains why crisis must happen, sometimes even designed to happen.

I keep thinking what did Cheney know when in 2003-4 he invested $30 mill in Euro based stocks and bought $10 mill in gold. I knew values were about to undergo huge shifts due to
the series of total eclipses in money signs. Same astro thing happened in 1929. Maybe Cheney
has an astrologer. His hero Reagan did. Never caught at anything.

I did note that the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (aka Wall St. bailout) did cap executive pay at $500K. It does that by disallowing any firm who's assets were purchased to take a tax deduction for any executive re numeration over $500K.

Oops!

Joe Biden's assumed Terminator mode for Thurday night's Palin debate, if his leaked rehearsal footage just sent me means anything.

You can see him veer completely off script, narrow his steely unblinking eyes, and saw his Sarah Palin stand-in in half with facts.

More fascinating? Watching Biden afterwards take notes from offscreen advisors to "soften this" and "pound that." Up to and including parsing his facial expressions, glares and gestures.

"Save the, 'Here's the solution Obama and I propose. What do YOU propose, Sarah?' stuff for the second half," says one offscreen advisor.

But the meat of the tape is the discussion over Biden's last, apparently extemporaneous remark.

"Governor Palin, with all due respect, I have not heard ONE specific plank in your and McCain's platform that addresses ANYTHING I and the American voters have asked of you tonight. If you can tell us what you and McCain would do DIFFERENTLY from the Bush Adminstration, which has brought America to the brink in so many ways over the last eight years: Please. Now is your chance. Tell us now how you represent Change from the previous administration."

I can't link to the leaked video because it was emailed as an attachment from, probably, the only person there who could have shot it. I don't want to get him in trouble and I won't violate his trust by blogging it.

But, Holy Shit!

If Biden delivers HALF of what he does in this leaked video, Thursday's Biden / Palin debate's going to look like "Bambi Meets Godzilla."

Which, of course, I have for you at clicky.
