Celebrity endorsement

Former UAF Chancellor John White announced his endorsement of the state lottery today. Proceeds will go to higher education. (Interesting, given the financial opposition noted earlier by one of the Walton billionaires. The Waltons purchased White's campus during his tenure.)

White said he'd waited until he'd retired as chancellor to make an announcement because he didn't want to appear self-interested. He noted the proposal would benefit all colleges, not just UA.

15 Rahs for John White!

If the lottery people have any sense they'll tell John White to go frick himself. Most Arkansans experience with White is limited to him telling us about Houston Nutt's golden handcuffs.

I guess Arkies don't think "lower education levels" need a boost in support too. What are they going to do when they have run the grade schools and high schools into bankruptcy so there are no students smart enough to attend the college? Oh, that's right, they will just recruit more Texan students! Why don't the colleges just up and state they are trying to keep the Arkies stupid so they wont know how to catch them stealing from the college treasuries and subverting funds out of necessary programs to support their damned sports programs? (Damn I'm glad no one knows who I am, all those worshipers of the "Great Red Pig" are gonna be madder than a stirred up Ground Hornets nest!)

True, ironfortified; and that may be cuz 81% of 'em ain't got no edgecation and don't know nuthin' bout thangs up air at th' unvurcity in Fedvul 'cept they's a football team up air that run th' bawl up th' middle awl th' time and didn't past it e'nuff.

what good is education? It's just something you'll have to take to hell with you when you die. Most athiest are those who have lots of education.

Thanks for being the poster child of CCRRR's, chasv.

Surely the Waltons aren't goody two shoes people the way they rip people off with their rejects.
They are millionaires why should they care if someone else might win a little money to help with the bills?

Hey you no caring Walton's since you don't want the lottery in Arkansas are you willing to give the state the millions each year that they will lose in revenue for not having the lottery? I doubt it.You just want to be bastards about it.The revenue from the lottery would give our children better education and better roads and highways.Poor old Arkansas needs the lottery. We're sitting here like knots on logs while the rest of the country is passing us by.Get a life and try helping Arkansas instead of wanting it to be behind times by 50 years.
