McCain ploy on economy
John McCain is calling for a delay of Friday's debate. He wants a cessation of campaigning to work on the economy. He's a couple of decades late on that, isn't he? Sounds desperate, doesn't he?

I think we are seeing the collapse of the McCain campaign.
They will have the debate, and McCain will show up at the podium with his creepy smile, but then, he suddenly rips open his Armani to reveal plastic explosives wired to his pacemaker. As the crowd gasps and the moderator soils himself, McCain leans in toward the mic and says, "See, if Senator Obama had agreed to town hall meetings, like I had asked him to, none of this would have happened."

How many days has McCain spent in DC doing actual senate work this year? I'll wager less than 5.
By his own admission he knows nothing about economics. That kind of experience is dangerous, so let us all pray he doesn't actually get involved.
He's cutting and running... terrified of the debate as much as his campaign is terrified of allowing Palin to be interviewed by competent journalists.

I was just remembering an op-ed about McCain and not showing up to vote, Eureka. It was on the energy bill......Friedman says....."Senator McCain did not show up for the crucial vote on July 30, and the renewable energy bill was defeated for the eighth time. In fact, John McCain has a perfect record on this renewable energy legislation. He has missed all eight votes over the last year - which effectively counts as a no vote each time. Once, he was even in the Senate and wouldn't leave his office to vote."
McCain is really a weird character. Nothing at all like he has been portrayed by the MSM all these years. He's angry, a huge liar, and the worst kind of opportunist.

McCain does realize that neither of them is President yet doesn't he? If they "delay" the debate, it will never be rescheduled. One of the remaining debates will be changed to all foreign policy as this one is suppose to be on Friday. Surely the Obama campaign won't fall for this trick.

I'd say that being absent is worse than voting "present."

He is going back to D.C. because the Democrats smelled the trick-f++k McCain had set for them. He had planned to keep his mouth shut and then denounce the Democrats no matter how the vote went on the Paulson bail-out.
The Democrats said they wouldn't even call the thing up for a vote if McCain and his treacherous GOP pals didn't support it, too.
Maybe the Dems HAVE learned a thing or two after being screwed on the post-9/11 demolition of the Bill of Rights and the Bushie WMD trick.

What a winner we have in John!
Run back to DC and hide...you know you'd be embarrassed and shown up in a debate.
How in the world does anyone think that John McCain has what it takes to be POTUS? He's about as prepared as Sarah Palin.
God help us all.

What an insult to us all, Democrats and Republicans alike. McInsane obviously takes the electorate for fools. Where was he all the years this financial crisis was evolving? The man is insane, I tell you, insane.

If McCain succeeds at "suspending" the campaign and "postponing" tomorrow night's debate with Obama, can't the same arguments be made for "postponing" the election itself?
With the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the War on Terror everywhere, and now the Crisis that Ate Wall Street, isn't there plenty of justification for granting Bush emergency powers and postponing the election until the U.S. government can restore the stability of the global economy and the safety of all mankind, i.e., indefinitely?
Nevermind that we conducted politics during a whole series of wars, as well as the Great Depression. But, then, doing politics during the Great Depression didn't work so well for the Republicans, did it?

What should Obama do if McCain is a no-show in Oxford, MIssissippi tomorrow night? Debate with himself?
Today, Obama should invite Ralph Nader and other third party candidates to join tomorrow night's debate. Let the debates go on without McCain.

Among other things, he'd probably like to get that National Enquirer article on Palin in the past before the debate.
It's one thing to be a MILF. It's another to have your husband's business partner thinking "ILF".
For sheer horniness, the Palin family is right up there with the Duggars. Must be all those long nights.

This proposal to postpone the debate, like nomination of Sarah Palin for the vice-presidency, is a distraction of attention from the top of the Republican ticket. It is at least as smart as it is cynical.

The president doesn't get to call "time out," McCain. Obama shredded McCain his (real) press conference. McCain put out a taped version with no questions.

"It's my belief that this is exactly the time when the American people need to hear from the person who, in approximately 40 days, will be responsible for dealing with this mess," Obama said at a news conference in Clearwater, Fla. "It's going to be part of the president's job to deal with more than one thing at once."

I'm Chickenshit McCain and I don't approve of any messages or debates at this time!
Jesus H. Christ....has there ever been a worst candidate in modern times? 8, 10, 12 years ago maybe McCain would have been at least a viable presidential candidate.....but he's a shell of a man today. What excuse will they use to cancel Palin's debate with Biden? Trig's measles, too hot to debate, upset stomach, got her period?
Obama nailed some 72 year old wrinkled ass to the wall with his statement this afternoon. Yes indeed, right this very minute is when the American people need to hear from the 2 men who would be President! We got no Wall Street honor to disturb by a healthy discussion of our nation's problems. The only hurricane going on right now is in McCain's failing old brain. Chickenshits all!
Bring on Friday's debate and if old man McCain McCan't make it.....screw him. Give Obama all the time! John McChicken is fake.........you're insane if you'd actually vote for such a sad old man and such a clueless milf. Wake up!

The stupid, senile old fool just lurches from situation to situation, snarling and slobbering. I think he is close to needing an intervention. He's needed in DC about like they need a case of chickenpox. He can communicate with whomever and then go back to vote. He's in charge of nothing.
I hope to hell he is scared witless right now - he should be!

McCain suspending campaign...does that mean Republicans can start over?
Is the 2008 Presidential Election still on?
Will Sarah Lipstick Palin be the new Republican nominee?
Are we stuck with Cheney and his comrade Dubya forever?
Yikes!
Presidential Directive #51, Executive Orders #13303, #13315, #13350, #13364, #13422, #13438.
Bush has granted himself an immense arsenal of powers.

I am just sick. Arkansas 53%, Obama 41% in a poll yesterday - the first one since July.
I thought Arkansas people were smarter than that!
But, the rest of the nation may be a lot smarter than the Reds in Arkansas. I sure as hell hope so.
Obama is ahead right now. :-)

The whole McCain/Palin campaign is weird.
They trimmed the convention because of an impending hurricane from hell. OK, so they managed to sidetrack Dubya a bit with that one. But what were John McCain and Sarah Palin gonna do down in Mississippi, personally hold off the wind and the water? Did she bring her favorite end times preacher along to help?
Since the convention, the campaign has hidden and cosseted Madame Palin like she was one of those Victorian ladies who fainted hourly because of a too tight corset.
They canceled campaign appearances for the lady so she could have the opportunity to meet world leaders in New Yawk City and talk about . . . wait for it . . . her children.
Now they want to suspend the campaign because John McCain apparently no longer believes that "the fundamentals of our economy are strong" -- something he explicitly DID believe ten days ago.
Well, there's a crude, but apt for the case, comment that comes up in family conversations every now and then -- s*** or get off the pot.

Hugh,
THIS may actually be in play now - I didn't think anything "terrorist" would do it these days, but since IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID is fully in play now, and they're trying to "spook" everyone into another "Patriot's Act" frenzy, McPain's attempting to "cut and run" from the debate could be the first step in that strategy.
This crapola must be going to push the polls to 60-40 or better for O'Bama... "You cannot make this shit up!" It IS "Dr. Strangelove," not to channel our least favorite opinionator...
Sheesh!!

Kizzy--Disturbing isn't it to think that the race isn't even close in Arkansas?. Get Hillary and Bill in here to campaign for Obama is he can't find time.
It's numbers like these that make we want to be rid of the electoral college. At least I'd know that my vote would count in the overall picture of a popular vote. I'm sure there are Republican voters in the states that always vote Democratic that feel the same despair when their vote is effectively cancelled out by all of their state's electoral votes going to the opposite party. Abolish the electoral college!
