Nature on the river

A Downtown Partnership members-only cocktail party Wednesday afternoon at the site suggests the Witt Stephens Jr. Central Arkansas Nature Center (what, something not named for a Huckabee?) is about to open in Riverfront Park.

Comments

I was told by a city employee who was doing some work at the nature center that the grand opening would be in mid-December...

Cocktails in public? Say it isn't so! That would never be allowed on the North side of the river where right now the NLRPD vice squad is putting a fresh coat of wax and polish job on their billy clubs to pepare to wail away on any blue haired seniors that dare to mix a martini at happy hour after they park their 1,000 motorcoaches on the riverfront streets next weekend.

This senate "oversight" committee of Arkansas Game and Fish is meeting there on Thursday at 3:PM. AGFC is to show the members of the committee a slide show entitled "Fueling the Future of Arkansas Wildlife"

I wish I was kidding.

Perhaps someone from the media can drop in for this "oversight" meeting.

Is anybody else concerned that the Nature Center looks a little cheesy? Hardi-board siding? Crappy dull mustard color in the midst of old brick warehouses? Muddy runoff paths into the AR river... I think it is poorly sited and a dull design.
