No sex, please, you're a teacher

A Bentonville judge has upheld the constitutionality of an Arkansas law that prohibits a teacher from having sex with a student, even one 18 years old.

The law in this case seems clearly unconstitutional to me. She should be fired, but you can't criminalize sex between two consenting adults.

Obviously no teacher should be allowed to have sex with a student no matter the age. An 18 year old girl in her senior year of high school may be perfectly able to consent to sex, but teachers must be held to some sort of standard. Teachers are in a position of leadership and supervisor to their students...they are there to learn and lines in grading can get blurred when a young lady or guy are screwing their anatomy teacher.

In that case perhaps criminalization may not be acceptable, but any teacher who sleeps with a student should be fired and never allowed to teach again.

The student had been 18 all of about 5 minutes before they had sex. There was also alcohol involved, provided by the teacher. Since the sex was consensual the defense should have gone with a plea deal on the alcohol. Trying to make a constitutional issue out of who you can have sex with is just goading the prosecution to proceed with felony charges and sex offender status.

As many cases of this crime as there has been over the last few years hear in Arkansas, it wont be too long until all those whining liberal Demoncraps AND Repugnants have repealed the law stopping teachers from this type of "Extra Curricular Activity". Hey it's the liberals who are allowing all those criminals to remain on the streets instead of being "Put Down" like they should be. You get a bad dog, you shoot it, you get a bad person, you give them rewards like book deals and free publicity to help them get away with the crimes they commit, and get paid large sums of money for it! Damn, I should have been a crook!

For those who haven't read the actual article about this case (MAK?), the 18 year old student was a MALE and the teacher was a 33 year old FEMALE.

Still makes no difference, but you perhaps would not get so worked up over it this way than if the sexes had been reversed.

Old, get over yourself. I was speaking in general terms related to the article. It is just a little easier to take advantage of young ladies than young guys, as most young guys will screw anyone who winks at them. So, to make my point, I made a general comment (actually from personal experience as a girlfriend of mine was taken "advantage" of when she had sex with her teacher and got an A in a class that she had been getting D's in) about a young lady sleeping with a male teacher...blurring the lines of the teacher/student relationship. It can and does happen in all forms, male student/female teacher, male student/male teacher, etc. And it does not matter one way or the other. No matter the gender, it is inappropriate and unacceptable. Perhaps you would not get worked up if you would just read what people write rather than read what you want them to write.
What did you think I meant when I said....."they are there to learn and lines in grading can get blurred when a young lady or guy are screwing their anatomy teacher"? Some how you had enough sense to know that particular sentence was not speaking directly of the article, but you assumed the sentence before was specific to the story? I can see how you made the error and in doing so made an ignorant assumption...but if it does not matter as you say, why make something out of it?

Was the teacher wearing lipstick and did the couple have plans to keep the child if she got pregnant? Also, did the teacher ever sell anything on eBay or talk about a long bridge during sex? Rather than condemn the couple, I want to tell them that they have the love and support of my whole family.

"It is just a little easier to take advantage of young ladies than young guys, as most young guys will screw anyone who winks at them."

Seems to me that the fact that young guys will "screw anyone" makes them easier to take advantage of. I doubt this adult male felt taken advantage of though.

It should be against school policy, but not the law if they are both adults.

What's the difference between a high school teacher having sex with an 18-year old student and a college professor having sex with an 18-year old student? Seriously, I'd like to know...

Is the state now going to start prosecuting college professors who have sex with 18-year old students?

MAK, do you need some caffeine or what? Wow, what a sorehead you are this morning.

But, just hang on, perhaps she'll give you some tonight and you'll feel better in the morning.

I'm sorry that I sent you off on such a tangent so early today. I didn't mean to do so.

Get a life, man, you're taking life waaaaaaaaay to seriously.

Point well taken Old.

Would we hold any adult authority figure to the same standard? Would we outlaw a policemen, librarian, piano teacher or any other of a hundred occupations as well?

We can send 18 year olds to die in Iraq, but they can't drink or have sex with whomever they want.

Why don't we just go ahead and outlaw any sex but in the missionary position? Why don't we outlaw sex between non-married adults? Why don't we outlaw sex between bosses and employees?

We can show people being brutally murdered for sport on TV, but show a woman's breast and all hell breaks loose.
