Palinology
An interesting report from Alaska: the preacher who's sure Palin tried to ban his book about gay people; her belief that man and dinosaurs walked the earth together; her picketing of an abortion provider during an effort to drive abortion out of the state.

What? No mention of oil going up $25 a barrell? Boy those Chinese sure must have starting using a lot more oil today.... For all those denying the price of oil is due to speculators...eat crow.
NEW YORK (AP) - Volatility is again sweeping the financial markets as oil prices surged and stocks plunged, with investors growing more nervous while they wait for further word about the government's plan to buy $700 billion in banks' mortgage debt.
Stocks are down sharply, taking the Dow Jones industrials down more than 300 points, while investors sought safety in hard assets such as gold and oil.
Oil prices spiked more than $25 a barrel Monday - the biggest one-day price jump ever - as anxiety over the bailout plan, a weak dollar and an expiring crude contract ignited a dramatic rally.

VP Debate Rules Changed To Compensate For Palin

The Obama and McCain campaigns have agreed to an unusual free-flowing format for the three televised presidential debates, which begin on Friday, but the McCain camp fought for and won a much more structured approach for the questioning at the vice-presidential debate, advisers to both campaigns said Saturday.
At the insistence of the McCain campaign, the Oct. 2 debate between the Republican nominee for vice president, Gov. Sarah Palin, and her Democratic rival, Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., will have shorter question-and-answer segments than those for the presidential nominees, the advisers said. There will also be much less opportunity for free-wheeling, direct exchanges between the running mates.
McCain advisers said they had been concerned that a loose format could leave Ms. Palin, a relatively inexperienced debater, at a disadvantage and largely on the defensive.

When will they be raiding the Palin compound?!
And, holy cow, McCain owns 13 cars! The average Arkansan only owns 5, two of which are on blocks.

I'm really tired of Slimy Sarah. She is not a role model and her family is not like "regular folks".
Palin uses her family to fund raise:
http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/09/palin_claims_obamabiden_democr.php
I'm still not sure how the moral majority folks are able to swallow an un-married preggers teen, but I guess it is easy to stop having "family values" when you never had them to begin with.
Once again, if one of Obama's kids were the girl in question Dr. Dobson would be going crazy, if Michelle Obama belonged to a group for 6 years that was for Illinois leaving the United States the Rethugs would be calling her a traitor. If Michelle Obama had refused to testify Bill 'O would be calling for her to by lynched.
Why are Republicans so morally bankrupt that they cannot see their own hypocrisy?
BTW, don't forget to call or email your elected officials in Washington and let them know how you feel about the bailout for Wall Street!

America's moral/financial compass can't withstand much more sustained stupiditywe've seen over the past 8 years certainly not another 4-years of McBush who will be even worse!!
Here's the difference Between A Carrying Democrat in The Oval Office
4 Aug 99 - US to buy back National Debt, first time in 25 years (BBC)
27 Sep 00 - President Clinton Announces Another Record Budget Surplus (CNN)
or
A Republican Who Really Don't Give A Crap !!!
22 Feb 01 - Bush unveils 'fiscally responsible' budget--reduces Deficit, but not Debt (CNN)
4 Feb 08 - Bush Proposes $3.1 Trillion Budget (Los Angeles Times)
U.S. NATIONAL DEBT CLOCK
The Debt Clock
http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/
The Outstanding Public Debt as of 22 Sep 2008 at 08:07:18 PM GMT is:
The estimated population of the United States is 304,775,797
so each citizen's share of this debt is $31,934.61.
The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$2.02 billion per day since September 28, 2007!
Concerned? Then tell Congress and the White House!

You know what? I'm about tired of all this Palin crap. If this country is so damn dumb as to elect that pair then it deserves what it gets. Granted, we who can see through the REpug charade will have to live with it too - unless/until we can find some friendly country who'll take us in as political refugees. But, it would almost be worth it to show these nimrods what happens when you elect somebody just for the sake of winning an election. Then again, if they're that stupid, they'll probably go ahead and continue to blame Bill Clinton for everthing that comes down during the McCain/Palin administration.
How long does it take to swim to France?

The best article I've read on Palin is in this weeks NEWSWEEK. Thinking people will appreciate it.

Look, you partisans keep pointing to this problem as being eight years old. That is not only nonsense but isn't supported by any reputable economist. If you look on some other blogs you will see ample articles that point to a long running problem. If you want a point to start with try the Community Reinvestment Act Amendment of 1995. Significantly reducing the loan requirements allowing people to borrow who had no chance of paying it back was the root of our problem. If you are obsessed with pointing a finger at someone, why don't you try the Congress that passed this idiotic act and the President that signed it into law.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Less than a week after balking at the Alaska Legislature's investigation into her alleged abuse of power, Gov. Sarah Palin on Monday indicated she will cooperate with a separate probe run by people she can fire.
My goodness what a brave thing to do! No wonder the Republican world worships her.
Do you think they can keep any witnesses called from snickering if they ask them to take an oath?
Such patriotism these Republicans show! What a wonderful person to have one heartbeat from the Presidency!

Rick Baber,
I completely agree. The American people have let the worst administration ever get away with ruining this country for the past eight years. If they want four more, there is nothing you and I can do about it.
Tragic, isn't it?

Excuse me for feeding the troll but...
DEBT is our country's biggest problem. It is the cause of the weak dollar which is the cause of oil prices doubling, which is why may people can't afford their mortgages now.
DEBT started again 8 years ago when Bush "cut taxes." He said he was giving people back THEIR money. How in the hell can you call it THEIR money when THEY have 3.5 trillion dollars in debt? That money should have paid down the debt. Instead Bush steals from future Americans to give current Americans a tax cut.
A "tax cut" which results in borrowing, is a tax increase. Future Americans will have to pay for the "tax cuts" PLUS INTEREST. You are STEALING from them every time you borrow money.
Republicans are either stupid or theives or both.
