They should challenge it. It was a sham from the start for these Alltel execs who knew well before the deal went through that they were selling Little Rock and 2,000 local employees down the river just to get a little richer. It's business, yeah, I know. But there was a lot of hidden crap with Verizon well before the "official" deal with Verizon went through, including the way the debt was stated.
They aren't cutting 2,000 employees because of debt from the deal. Verizon already "owned" that debt when it had purchased its original share of the company, before the venture capitalists then sold off the rest to Verizon. And everybody who works at Alltel can't talk about it. But they know.
Get someone to talk on the record. Blow this story up. Screw Alltel and its overpaid management crewthat did all this. You can probably reach them on the course at Augusta or Alotian, laughing their way around the links.

Renewed opposition? I think not. The opposition has always been there -- competitors never like it when another competitor gets stronger. The push to postpone has to do with one thing: the presidential polls. If they can push it past Jan. 20, competitors can get the merger squished.
