Barack and Mark

This is rich. The Obama campaign is sending out e-mails in support of U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor, a no-show at the recent Obama rally in Little Rock. Has anybody gotten an e-mail from Pryor supporting Obama? If Obama wins, will Lieberman control Obama's vote on court appointees, or the other Republicans in the gang of 16?

UPDATE: A neighbor notes that the Pryor home in the Heights (below) features a Pryor for Senate sign, of course. Obama sign? Not in sight. Maybe somebody stole it.

You can change politics in this country at every level -- up and down the ballot.

WHAT! Did Mark share some of his huge campaign chest with BHO?

An 82% BushVoter is going to bring What?

Agreed we do not need lead in our toys thank you Mark. But, we don't need 22% interest rates on credit cards either thank you Sen Pryor. We didn't need more 100% corporate judges on the SCOTUS either.
.

If you want change then vote Green.

I don't think that Green has a chance, and I don't know that I'd WANT them to win, but Pryor has disappointed me a few times lately, so I'm voting Green this year.
Snyder used to be my favorite politician, but lately he's been a bit of a disappointment too, so I'm voing Green there as well.
And I am only doing so because there's no Republican opposition that would win if the vote is split.

Pryor's collusion with the Bush Administration is the reason I'll be voting for Rebekah Kennedy to replace him in the US Senate. I don't expect she'll win, but I'm hoping if she makes a good showing (and Dems pick up the White House, plus more seats in the House and Senate), Pryor will remember what letter comes after his name on the Senate roll call and start acting like a Democrat.

If not, can we start a movement to send Joyce Elliot onto the national stage in the next go-around?

I went to MP's website (it's slicker) and found nothing about BHO. Notta.

I did find this bit of braggadocio-

House Passes Amended Pryor Bill

"The House last Friday passed a bill requiring the Federal Communications Commission to study parents' access to advanced technologies that are capable of blocking content on television and the Internet.

...

[T]he Child Safe Viewing Act, introduced by Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) in 2007, could become law this year if the Senate returns for a lame duck session on Nov. 17 and agrees to the House's amendment.

"It's time for the FCC to take a fresh look at how the market can empower parents with more tools to choose appropriate programming for their children. This bill is a pragmatic, sensible approach where parents, kids and technology can all benefit," Pryor said in a statement after the vote last Wednesday.<<
------------------------------------------
It could have been wonderful if MP had introduced legislation which would have required cable and dish providers to allow real cafeteria plans instead of overpriced "packages" which rips off everyone. Then, blocking a channel would not need to be done. Parents could just choose what they want coming to their homes and the companies would simply program it on the little tv boxes you must have anyway.

Yeah change indeed Mark!
.

It's just a generic form email the campaign is sending out across the country on behalf of Democratic congressional candidates. It obviously doesn't mean that Obama is more favorably disposed to Pryor's opinions than to those of Merkley, or Shaheen, or Levin, or Durbin, or so on and so forth.

If you want to see what it looks like in other states:
http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/10/obama_and_a_lasting_majority.php

Yes, I got this email and clicked DELETE, *ceremoniously* washing my hands of it. I'm voting Green for the same reasons stated in this thread.

There are Greens on the ballot against Snyder, Pryor and the VP/ Pres candidates.

OK. Maybe they will not win anything but they let us vote against both the Dem candidates and the Repubs..

Whether you like their positions or not you can voice your disapproval of the status quo by voting for the Greens.

Let's remember: Pryor is a SNAKE!! Vote Kennedy...
|

boo.

If you wish to keep Greens on the ballot then vote for Cynthia McKinney-President too. It's a safe vote.
McCain is going to carry Ark. Recall Arkies elected George Wallace 40 years ago...many of
us are old enough to recall it. They sure are not going to vote for a man of colour.

There's a rule that I do not completely understand (help Max or Jim !) that determines
whether or not a "Third Party" is valid or not. It depends upon how many votes are
cast for that third party's presidential candidate.

Greens need the help. Vote McKinney-Green.
.

I have to say that it felt good to vote against Mark Pryor today.
so good....

He doesn't have an obama sign because he stuck his finger in the air and saw that the prevailing Arkansas political winds weren't in favor of obama. Nothing surprising here.

strange- how's your boy McCain doing? Not so good from what I hear. His loyal party is thinking about throwing him under the bus. How about Mooseguts Palin? Gosh, her numbers are getting worse by the day. She'll have negative positives (-10% think positively of her, 110% think negatively of her) by election day!

Maybe that's the Republican plan. Turn America upside down, shake out all the loose money and run for the hills while leaving it to the Democrats to fix. Who did McCain and Palin say was unAmerican?

Regarding Obama I think it's going to be tighter than you think, strange...

I'll be voting Kennedy, by the way. Unless Pryor bumps his head in the next couple of weeks and remembers that he is a Democrat...

And there has been a string of Obama sign theft lately...everyone on my street got nailed. Do I think Pryor's sign got stolen? Not a chance in Lieberville...

I just got walking in the heights this weekend and I saw just about nothing by obama signs. Didn't appear to be any theft going on.

I keep telling you over and over again---I'm not voting for anyone. So McCain is not my boy. I think that obama will win. I think that the demos will retain and increase their control of Congress. I think that the courts will end up even more in control by the democrats. What is left that you guys want?

I voted for Kennedy. More votes for Kennedy and the Green Party sends a message to Pryor. I looked up Snyder's opponent, Debbie McFarland, and her website, and geez, I'm sorry, I just couldn't vote for her.

I like Snyder for most of his votes and he stays locally active here. But, I just don't see him being a leader for any of his votes. Maybe I'm out of touch, but does Snyder work on convincing others to vote with him. Now, I have seen Pryor lead in the Senate...too bad he seems to lead down the GOP Street sidewalk.

Although Obama may not win this state, I think it is important to increase the popular vote count for him. I just think how perceptions are spun and elections are scored by the result of vote counts and percentages years later. Maybe this criteria shouldn't matter, and maybe I think too much, but my gut tells me I am glad I voted Obama and not try to send a nonspecific message by voting Green just because Obama has a small chance here.

Saturday night was the night of the thefts. Maybe some folks were venting from the Kentucky game...

I'm with anymouse. Felt good to vote against Pryor, Ross and a couple of others.

OMG! Does strangelove live in the Heights? Have I passed by him on my numerous walks through the area with my dogs? That kind of gives me the creeps.

I agree with Rosso that it could be closer here than people think. The last poll done in AR was a while ago right? McCain has dropped 10% in lots of states in the last month. Anyone visit the polls today? I did and what I saw was that Obama supporters are a LOT more excited about this election. Still it was fun to vote Green for a few things. Cynthia is a Democrat anyways right? Do we really think she'd be much more green/liberal than Obama?

How can you call yourself a liberal and not vote for commander synder? I'm shocked!!!! I thought that he was the patron saint of Arkansas liberalism. He seems to go out of his way to get his liberal ticket punched at every opportunity.

Ok strange is taken at his word. But I wonder why you don't support the Libertarian ticket featuring Bob Barr?

What's happened to Extremists for McCain ? This is fertile territory for you. Let's hear it from the faithful 11%ers.

You should be able to take Arkansas. How many cemeteries are there in Arkansas? Just have a little more faith in ACORN. They never met a dead person that they couldn't use.

A vote soley AGAINST a party is worse than no vote at all.

I have caught it from Republicans for not voting. I get it from you guys cause I don't fall lock step like the rest of the ARKBLOGers who support obama. I can't look myself in the mirror and vote for either one. Sad case of lack of leadership in this country. I guess it could be worse. I could live in Israel.

I grew up in Arkansas. I only knew democrat. I didn't know what a republican was until Rockefeller got elected. However, the democratic party of my dad, his father and his father before him bears NO resemblance to the 'if it feels good do it' party of today. In Little Rock, the left wing seems to embrace the demos because they are so afraid of being called a 'redneck' and this is a sure way of saying 'just because I live in Arkansas doesn't mean I'm a redneck'.

I could live in Israel.

Need help buying a one way ticket? /s

If my ballot were a menu... it would read, Tried all Greens and one Nader

Care to explain your reasoning?

Strange, The PRIMARY reason few vote R in AR is they only run BS candidates!! Jim Holt, et al. I'm disappointed in some of Vic's recent votes AND when I see him, he LISTENS to people. Unlike Ross or the mindless dipstick Berry (Booze-man doesn't deserve comment!) he also thinks and reasons and has SOME "common-good" logic behind his votes.

As for Sammy: since the R's have virtually destroyed the country (and Yes, with WAY too many Dem enablers!) I'm voting AGAINST R's every time - until they field an actual candidate - like maybe McCain 2000.

AND as you've read here before: Not now, and NEVER been a D...but can't recall the last time I voted for an R (probably was RayGun the FIRST time!).

"I think that the courts will end up even more in control by the democrats." strange

Total unadulterated baloney, but we're used to it from you. Here's the number of appointments:

Ronald Reagan (1981-1989)- 4 Supreme Court, 83 Appeals court & 290 trial courts
Bush 1 (1989-1993)- 2 Supreme Court, 42 Appeals court & 148 trial courts
Bill Clinton (1993-2001)- 2 Supreme Court, 66 Appeals court & 305 trial courts
Bush 2 'The Idiot' (2001-2009)- 2 Supreme Court, 57 Appeals court & 237 trial courts

I'll do the math for you, strange, covering the past almost 28 years:

Republican appointments- 8 Supreme Court, 182 Appeals court & 675 trial courts
Democrats- 2 Supreme Court, 66 Appeals court & 305 trial court

In total (not safe to let strange figure the totals):

Republicans- 80% of Supreme Court, 73.4% of Appeals court & 68.9% of trial court
Democrats- 20% of Supreme Court, 26.6% of Appeals court & 31.1% of trial court

That's some 'control', eh strange?

So are you saying that obama will make NO appointments at all levels of federal judgeship's? That is a little silly since all presidents make appointments during their administrations. Do you want us to believe that obama will be unlike every other President in modern times? If he serves two four year terms he will certainly make a fair share of appointments that may tip the scales in favor of democrats. Give me a break!!!!

Looks to me like the TOTAL judgeships made by Clinton were more in comparison to Bush II.

Commander vick listens to liberal people. He DOES NOT listen to conservative people. He is a representative of the liberal elements ONLY in his district. Nothing new here.

"I have to say that it felt good to vote against Mark Pryor today." - Any*Mouse

It is precisely this kind of anti-incumbent vote that allowed Frank White to kick Bill Clinton's narcissistic ass after Clinton lost touch with the people during his first term as governor. People (myself included) voted for White simply to "send Clinton a message," never dreaming that White would actually win. I think I'll vote against Pryor, too. Who knows? I think Miss Blank is still a bit shocked that she got only 56% of the vote her last time around. Pryor (with his $5 million war chest) may be in for an even bigger shock.

I'm pretty much a yellow dog Democrat, but I'm going Green against Pryor this election. Back in the day I would just abstain rather than vote for Tommy Robinson or Warren "Aluminum Foil Helmet" Carpenter. I'm glad I've got a Green choice this time. I was really upset when the protest vote knocked Clinton out of office in 1980 and would never vote in that manner. So this is no protest... I really think Kennedy would be better than Mark Pryor.
