Child advocates: 'No' on Initiated Act 1

Voices for America's Children, a non-partisan advocacy group, has joined judges, clergy, medical groups, social work professionals and others urging a "No" vote on Initiated Act 1, which would make adoption more difficult in Arkansas. (I've fixed link to document.)

Max,

The link didn't work for me. Can you repost the full text?

THIS will finally, and maybe for "sea change" results, smoke out the bigots, hypocrites, miscreants and just plain homophobic assholes who will vote FOR this abomination. Unlike the "marriage amendment," NO credible entity is FOR this excepting Jerry Cocks and the Theocrats. There will be no cover/excuse/rationalization which will protect these fact-avoiding, SUPPOSED Christians. They are the small "c" christians who are WAY more interested in your & my behavior than their own!!!

Whatever became of the strategy discussed here at length of PUBLISHING the names of all who signed the original petitions to get this on the ballot? I will contribute $100 towards that effort IF this passes - to at least expose those creeps, if there is a way to accomplish it. Can that be kept "secret" from the public?

In my work, I know many good FAMILIES of unmarried people who love and care for children. They have given up their freedom and finances to provide a home for children no one, including the biological parents, wanted. This initiated act proposal is wrong. It is simple mindless hate, hurting the defenseless, not the bigots' intended target. The Family Council should be labeled as a terrorist group for attacking the children of America. Guantanamo Bay would be too good for Jerry Cocks. A barbed wire fence in Wyoming would be a better location for the insane bigots of the Arkansas Family Council.

Larry, we know what you are and you do too....!
Your name calling means nothing. Repent of your sins before it is too late.

Oh dear, Big Brother is watching...

Chasv, I am not even going to ask how you know... or why you would be looking.

I think you would do well to do some repenting yourself. Last time I checked, pride was a sin too.

Hey hillbilly I know the same way everyone including you should know.. By Gods Holy Words.
YOu must be converted from perverted.
Anybody who does not believe in Him will perish.
Oh, for your knowledge I have repented and it would do you good to repent and be born again...before its too late.
I know you don't look at yourself as being a sinner but sinners is all that Jesus came to save.
Self righteous people can't be saved.
I don't know of any who has more pride in themselves than homosexuals do.

Not that it's THAT important chasv, but your "knowing" something is analogous to Gen. Powell commenting SO WHAT? if O'Bama would have happened to be a Muslim. Apparently you "know" that I'm a homosexual because I support "...freedom and justice for ALL?" My late first wife, my 2 kids (one sadly deceased), my current wife of 24+ years, OUR two kids and other family & friends will be SHOCKED to hear that!! You should try meeting/knowing a few gay folk to get over your abject fear.

I'm not sure why Max let you back on here, but you are a POX on humanity with your willful ignorance, AND if it makes you happy: I "repented," long ago, when I renounced my membership in the Republican Party, thank you very much...

You can't seem to get it through your impenetrable noggin that this is a SECULAR society, and NO ONE swears on the Constitution to uphold (anyone's warped view of) the Bible. Please return to sucking your thumb while rocking/banging your head against the wall!

The real problem that needs to be addressed is why so many good Americans go to foreign countries to adopt given the needs of their fellow US citizens. Tax deductions are given to help subsidize the costs of both domestic and foreign adoptions. Perhaps its time to reduce benefits for foreign adoptions and to increase benefits for hard to adopt children?

Chasv - if this act doesn't pass you really don't have anything to fear. It's not like gays/lesbians are currently lining up in droves to foster/adopt. This act is much more likely going to affect unmarried heterosexual couples. The state/DHS has the obligation to screen households and to make routine visits to check on children. If a child is being abused by a homosexual couple, they should be reported and prosecuted. A child really should not be aware of what goes on in the parent's bedroom - whether homo or heterosexual.

MaxB - if you care so much about the children, why not foster 4 or 5 poor black children? With your empty nest and huge home and vast resources, you and Ellen would make excellent candidates.

Wow - Sev makes total sense and I agree wholeheartedly - except for the gratuitous slam at Max, of course...

Sev, I'm amazed. That's the most enlightened comment you have ever made on this blog. (Applause)
