Did sanity prevail?
The hoot of the morning was the wire story in D-G that John McCain would be proposing, ta da, a tax cut to stimulate the economy. How a capital gains tax cut would help when hardly anybody has any capital gains to report is one obvious flaw. Another is the fact that a tax cut on the already low tax rate on dividends is of almost singular benefit to the wealthy.
Maybe the appearance of holding the interests of the wealthy paramount and holding firm to the failed trickle-down theory struck somebody in the McCain camp as a touch off. They've apparently dropped the idea.

The Sunday Parade Intelligence Report had a simple but detail analysis of the Obama VS McCain tax plan. Click on the blue.
Now we all know -- Ronald Reagan's trickle down tax theory promised us riches but we got trickle down poverty instead.
I've learned over the years that when a republican smiles at the same time he promises you something grab your A...!

And I have learned over the years that there is enough stupidity and anti-Dem thinking people out there that we may face yet another 4 years of the sameo sameo named John McCain in the White House.

Max, I don't disagree with your point, but I do want to point out that capital gains are paid on much more than those made in the stock market. Many of your readers say they don't have much in the markets; perhaps they face capital gains in other areas....
ARK. BLOG: I'm aware. But unless you are talking about the very highest income people, the other primary spot that people might have a capital gain is in their home (they wish!). and, as you know, that gain is effectively tax-exempt for nearly everyone. Those with a lot of gold bullion could benefit from a capital gains tax cut.

I hope you're wrong, Alligatorgar. I hope you're wrong. But I'm listening to those folks around me and I'm worried. For the life of me, I can't understand how Hillary could be all the things people around here called her -- "bitch" immediately comes to mind, but there were plenty of other names as well -- and yet Sarah Palin is the right hand of god.
Maybe the rest of the nation has a bit more sense. Maybe . . .

I hope I am wrong too Doigotta.
Governor Palin is a poster girl for the Religious Right. Not in my opinion the humble faithful of Jesus Christ but the judgmental bigots that wrap themselves in the cross.
She is a prime example of a person that talks the talk yet lives her life via situational ethics and morals. The sad thing is it sells and influences.
John McCain seemed a good choice back in 2000 but I just wonder. Now he is too old for the job. Just look at Bush. The potential of Sarah Palin taking the reins of power in this country is chilling.

Since it's Worry Monday, I can't help but think we're edging closer to the Apocalypse moment that Bush will use to cancel the election. McCain-Palin are sinking like a turd in a swimming pool. I think they're too far behind for the Republican Vote Stealing Machine to fix. The neo-cons who stole our government have no intention of giving it up so they'll have to go to Plan B which will be sooo not good for us little folks.
I suddenly remember all those times I was perking along whistling a happy tune when BAM.....they shot Kennedy (your pick), they shot Martin Luther King, Jr.! 9-11! There is no homework for car wrecks....you're just suddenly in one. And that's how it will feel when Cheney-Bush pulls whatever they have up their sleeves. BAM! And suddenly nothing will ever be the same again. I sure dread it.....I keep telling myself to expect it.
But I just know I'll be pulling something good out of the oven or listening to the tinkling sweet voice of my daughter and BAM..........oh well.....the job of being human is dangerous and we knew it when we signed up for it in the womb. Actually my womb memories are pretty foggy. I just remember it being very very wet and I couldn't cover my well-formed genitals with my little hands. Oh well.....good luck to everyone without a McCain-Palin sign in their yard.

No one knows what they are doing in this crash, meltdown, recession, depression, etc.
You can tell that by all the different ways they have of referring to it.
Bush is changing game plans as each new expert visits the White House.
If you purchased a home within the past 5 years you are likely going to get hurt.
If you invested in financial services in the past year or longer you're losing.
Derivative meltdown should be allowed to continue. It was way out of proportion to
any meaningful economic activity it helped to support or facilitate.
The financial hayride has ended and the hay is wet and getting wetter.
McCain and company doesn't know jack shit about what to do. He admitted his ignorance
a few months ago. Then in Sept he demonstrated it. "Economy is fine and healthy." Three
hours later "Crisis."
Americans are going bezerk daily. Every time a myth must be faced it's crazy time. The myth of
a guiding hand in the market place should have been laid to rest long ago.
But nooooooooo.
The myth that we can regulate and solve our problems should be faced. It is being faced. When myths fall everyone gets the jitters for a long time. Crazy people act out crazy shit
like kill the opposition. Soon it will be a new war that is needed to soothe the collective
crazies.
We are a BELIEF SOCIETY. Worse than ever. We need little or no evidence. God said it -fine with millions. Snakes talk. Earth is 6000 years old. Magic beliefs abound. Palin is for small gubberimint. I suppose we need to separate our myths from outright lies but that gets sticky.
How many millions of prayers does god get transmitted to him or her each minute? You know with that many requests some of them get ignored, well, most of them like 99.9%. So just screw god and the angels cause they're too frigging busy. But you wait. McBush or Bush or both will be invoking Americans to help pray our way out of this neo-con mess. And when they ask that we help them pray. Grab your ass and clean out your bank account cause it means some are going to get humped by the raging elephant. It's gonna hurt.
Big time.
It's likely that some really smart professor sitting in a small university somewhere sees a workable solution. He will write a book about it in 3 years.

Look at how happy the stock market is today! Up 600 points! I'd be happy too if the Federal Government told me they were going to fix all my problems and send me a butt-load of cash. Where do I sign up? I wanna be happy too!
