Election party?
I'm superstitious about elections and this sort of thing gives me the willies, but ....
The Arkansas Times is giving some thought to putting together an election night party at one of the clubs near our office in the River Market district for Tuesday night. The hope, of course, is for something akin to heading to a club to watch the Hogs in a football game where you can be joined by cheering throngs.
We'd hope to have plenty of TVs to watch the returns on multiple channels and we'd be doing some blogging and picture-taking from the scene.
Anybody like to join in?
SPEAKING OF SUPERSTITION: Doonesbury, already done for next week, includes a strip in which troops talk about Obama's victory Tuesday.

We've buzzed about this sort of thing off and on for a couple years. I'd love to see this happen.

Please do this. I have already scheduled to take the day off work on Nov. 5 and would rather watch the returns among cheering, inebriated throngs rather than alone at home in my bath robe.

No fooking way!
Strangelove, chasv, severus and their occult pals would love nothing better than for all of us to gather in one spot so they could send in a female GOP shiite to take us all with her to the afterlife.
I'm staying home with my door locked. The Helena-West Helena skinheads will be out in force gassing anyone with a smile on his/her face.

I would love to, but I'm going to be stuck in Kansas City for work. Luckily, I've already found a party to attend there. It's always better to get together with friends and drink out of hope (or fear?) while you watch the returns.

Way too far for roosters to travel from Chickenopolis.
Washington County Demos have
reserved the Town Center for our Victory Party. Maybe I can send some pics.
" Following is the message about the [Washington County] party from Tim Freeman:
Yes! Tell everyone to be there any time after 6:30. We will handle the food. Please tell them to bring any desert trays if they would like and if they have time. We will have live streaming results coming in from the courthouse and they will be tallied on the big board. We will also have television with national results on the big screen. We will have two cash bars, one with beer and wine, and one with alcohol. We will have a stage set up for candidate speeches. Any questions? Email Tim at hiexpressfayetteville@gmail.com "
P.S. The leading NWA newspaper , The Morning News, and Fayetteville's NWA Times both endorsed Steve Clark for Mayor of Fayetteville. According to yesterday's report Clark raised and spent more money than any other candidate. Most of his contributions came from out of state.

I was wanting to go to an election night party and I found out there will be one at 1620 Restaurant out west. But I'd much rather attend an AR Times party in the River Market.
Count us in.

I would need a breakdown on the security force you'd hire to make the party safe. I saw Gunner Delay's mother trolling my street corner yesterday. Lucky for me I had on my camo outfit so she drove right by the bush I was hiding in....whew...that was close!
We'd have to have a food & drink tester. Man, I don't want to wind up like that Russian dude they nuked with a cup of tea. All those bloody oozing lesions all over his body.....no sir....not the way I want to go. And no offense, but I don't want to leave the planet in LR. I'm saving up to die in my own unmade bed that came up the Arkansas River in 1861, thank you very much!
Since I can't seem to find the room rates for the Marion or Manning Hotels, I'd have to drive back home drunk and if Obama wins, I'd have to be alert enough to get past the Republican sentries they'll have posted at the roads leading into the Fort. Plus....if I'm driving past Clarksville drunk....I'd probably swerve into that big XXX store there by the highway and lord knows what would happen there at 3 am in their pole-ing booths?
Still....the idea of getting to meet Mrs. Halter, assuming she's recovered from child birth enough to throw back a few martinis, is pretty alluring. And if the pissed off FS Republicans vented their anger at the gates of the compound.....I wouldn't be here! And if the Republicans did manage to steal this election, I'd be just that much closer to Washington DC, I could pack my torch and pitchfork just in case.....mmmmmmm.
Would I have to go to NLR to smoke? Have they reopened the old Checkmate Club? Since they've let in far far worse, why not have the party at the Clinton Library? Oh....so many unanswered questions come to mind!

I know of several that will be in that area, and I think a Times watchparty would be a great addition!
I know I would have to drop by for parts of it, just to put a few faces with names.

Yeah...it's that putting faces to names part that scares me. Maybe Max can rent 10 or 12 golf carts and we can make all the Democratic parties in downtown LR? A drunk in a Buick is a whole lot more dangerous than a drunk in a golf cart. Will Norma be live-blogging from the AT party?

Count me in! Also, Crush Wine Bar is having a non-partisan election watch party. I may have to drop in there just to see what a non-partisan election watch party looks like.

Was gonna take up eLwood's INvite and hit the Fayetteville Town Center, but it looks like there's gonna be more folk here at the west Chickendale Demo HQ (my house) that we'll be able to tote around. Hopefully, we'll all be shitfaced from celebrating poll results, and therefore not able to drive to FayetteNam - BUT, if it's an overwhelming victory (one they can't take to the Supremes to have the election overturned) we may call a limo or something and go over there anyway. Mama's already told 'em she'd be late for work Wednesday. I might even take off, myself.
For now, though, I gotta go out & set up my scary stuff in the yard. I wish I had a cardboard cut-out of MooseMama on a broom....
