He's baaaack

I refer to Bill Halter's football coach, now pushing the lottery for Bill, who gets some TV face time himself in a pro-lottery media campaign. I've asked about the size of the buy and the source of the money. But, from the news release, it sounds like they won't be saying. Maybe they just hope the YouTube goes viral for free. Probably not.

Little Rock - Hope for Arkansas has initiate a new ad campaign in support of Proposed Constitutional Amendment No. 3, the Scholarship Lottery Amendment.

"Today we began airing new positive television and radio ads whose goal is to get out the word about the scholarship lottery," said Hope for Arkansas spokesman Bud Jackson.  "Our ads are designed to reinforce our positive message about the good a scholarship lottery will provide for Arkansas while also reminding people to go vote."

The ads will air in multiple markets from now until election day, but Hope for Arkansas is declining to offer further specific and strategic information.

"This is an exciting time for Arkansas," continued Jackson.  "With the power of their own vote Arkansans can approve their own scholarship

Max,

That's a Murphy Putnam ad, so look for them if you ask about the buy.

Then hats off to Murphy Putnam. "The Coach" or "My Coach" is one so highly regarded in Ark this ad, just as his previous one, will succeed. I would go out on a limb and say other politicos in the SW will copy it if in fact Halter's ad group is not copying some other ad. Coach is a great symbol for conveying a message and Coach crosses all racial lines, income lines, etc. Good work fellas.

Of course there's those THREE other things that make a good ad work:

Repetition
Repetition
Repetition

Naked attempt by Halter to raise his profile. I think it would have been much more powerful to feature those who will benefit from the lottery......the kids. Is the lottery about Halter or about helping kids go to college?

Too bad we didn't get to see the post-script to the commercial - were those two guys gonna hold him up for use as a tackling dummy?

I might consider making a contribution if that would allow me to watch their blocking practice get that schmucky grin off of his shyster face.

I was going to vote for the lottery until I saw this thinly veiled promotion for Halter. Not now.

For certain he won't miss either of your votes. This is one that will win in a landslide.

If so, it won't be the first time that an election resulted in a mess that will bite us in the a** down the road. . .
