Secretary of State Charlie Daniels today announced the statewide results of the 2008 National Student/Parent Mock Election. The winner of the much-anticipated race for US President and Vice President was Senator Barack Obama and Senator Joe Biden

Around 140,000 students from about 500 schools statewide participated in Mock Election Day, which serves to educate students from kindergarten to 12th grade on the importance of voting by actively involving them in a full-fledged campaign and national election.

"Student mock elections are a valuable exercise in democracy for our future voters and civic leaders," Daniels said. "Every election year, we seem to have more participants and more enthusiasm for the process. Through this program, our youth get to have a voice in determining the future of our state and country."

The final Arkansas 2008 Mock Election results are as follows:

President and Vice President
Barack Obama / Joe Biden - Democrat Votes: 49,088

Bob Barr / Wayne Allyn Root - Libertarian Votes: 569

Chuck Baldwin / Darrell L. Castle - Constitution Votes: 398
Cynthia McKiney / Rosa Clemente - Green Votes: 710
Gloria La Riva / Eugene Puryear - Socialism and Liberation Votes: 220

John McCain / Sarah Palin - Republican Votes: 34,393

Ralph Nader / Matt Gonzalez - Independent Votes: 1,513

.

When I saw your list, I wondered what the order was. Certainly it wasn't arranged by vote total. For a minute I thought it was random but finally it came to me that it was in alphabetical order by first name of the Presidential candidate.

A mind is a terrible thing to waist.

Happy Halloween............

Keep the little ones safe.............

clicky

Yea mud and the total pres votes only tally to 86,800 from the 140,000 cast.

Hmm teaching youngsters about voting realities early.

Went to one of those Fact sites about political advertisements and did some unofficial counting of how fact checking came out on key statements made by Republicans (McCain, Palin) and Democrats (Obama, Biden) since they were officially nominated at the party conventions. Tossed out the Half True items since both sides had the same number. That left Lies (they called it False, Mostly False, Barely True, or Pants on Fire Lies) and the Gospel (Mostly True, True).

Here are the results: McCain/Palin - 32 Lies of one type or another (Pants on Fire = 5) and 19 Truths (8 Absolutely True). Obama and Biden had 20 Lies of various types and 24 Truths with only 2 Pants on Fire whoppers and 15 Absolutely True.

McCain = twice the Lies, half the Truth. Obama - half the Lies, twice the Truth.

Side note: (1) E-mail attacks are 20 to 1 against Obama. (2) It's hard to get positive press when your campaign is losing, your VP is more of a maverick than you are in dealing with fellow Republicans, and members of your own party are lining up to criticize and fault campaign strategy. (3) Bush still haunts the party despite all attempts to drive a stake into his heart.

To Larry: I told you that we'd come back, that Palin would be neutralized, that McCain would lose the debates, and that the economy would be the key. Glad you kept the faith!!

Only four more days till the results are all in and tabulated!

November 4th is right around the corner!

Make your voices and your votes COUNT, A-T Blogger Babies!

I'm talking about my FABULOUS "Caption This" contest and the few remaining days for you to enter your best captions, then VOTE on them at clicky to win my personalized heirloom prize to pass down to generations, auction on eBay, whatever.

Democracy in action!

In an unheard-of, completely coincidental, Harmonic Convergence, my "Caption This" contest happens to coincide with America's election of the next leader of the Free World who will determine the course of America and the planet and YOU for the next four years, and stuff.

Or, as Sarah Palin (who idolizes me) so eloquently put it today, "The time for choosin's comin' real soon!"

Bless her heart.

Full details at clicky.

I've got my Obama/Biden yard sign out, in front of the giant blow-up hearse wagon. Strobe light on a broken skeleton hanging in the big holly bush up by the front door....a scrolling marquee that says stuff like "Happy Halloween", and "Watch for spiders", and "Boo!"... and NObody's coming to the door. Well, a few, but nothing like last year, when I DIDN'T have the yard sign.
I think the lit'lins in NWA have been told by their parents that they can't shop at a DEMOCRAT's house.
Funny.
OK with me. That's more Whoppers and Mounds for me for the next few weeks. But I dunno what the hell I'm gonna do with all the Hanna Montana candy bracelets.....

It's a sham. Our local college did the same. Although there are 7 names on the presidential list in Arkansas, they listed only McCain and Obama. I imagine all these othe schools did like wise. Understand what's wrong with it? Are these people really that ignorant that they don't understand how to have these mock elections?

Jimmy Clouette, a Little Rock lawyer has been arrested for possession of meth. Is the the same attorney who rated out Dan Harmon a few years ago?

Oh, Blogger Babies, you think the Presidential Election is important?

You don't know the half of it.

HERE (at clicky) is why it's monumental.

For decades to come.

We've already a Catholic five-MALE majority on the Supreme Court willing to impose their religionist ignorance, authoritative patriarchal superstitions and bigotry on ALL Americans for generations to come (how would you feel if we had a five-MALE Muslim majority on the SCOTUS?) . . .

But the legislative depth and extent of the religious right's takeover of American jurisprudence, law enforcement and the military during the last three or four decades is jaw-dropping and terrifying for the majority of Americans who dissent from their narrow-minded, fascist determination to remake America into a theocracy and force YOU to conform to their dogma or die.

THAT'S what November 4th's election is really about, Peapie.

Clicky? You have no idea.

You have certainly piqued our interest in the secret Medical story you keep whispering to your anonymous contributor about. When is this provocative story going to break--or is it?

What ever you do, stop and click on Norma's name and read that article!! The radical right outcry that we need judges who interpret the law, not make the law is shown for the farce it is. Interpret or make, the result is still the same and it has been the far right justices who have dismantled laws over the past decades and let the wolves loose among the lambs.

Read the article!! Vote Democratic!!

ThermosDay, I am intrigued by this as well. I have been hearing some rumors about the Anne Pressly case... that there is information that is coming out of the autopsy, etc. It would not surprise me if this is what this is about. I will not say exactly what I have heard. But if either of the rumors is true, it will propel the investigation into new areas. I have a family member who lives not far from the crime scene, and I am very nervous. If the rumors are true, I don't need to be nearly as worried as I am now. Let's just say that I have been ready to move onto my family member's porch with a shotgun; but if these rumors are true, I may be able to stay in my own home, at least for now.

THAT you DID Jake - I definitely went "all wobbly" for a while there. I felt from the get-go that there is MUCH rationale for a landslide and when it didn't materialize up-front I blinked!! I'm NOT counting the votes until they're in, since at my age I couldn't stand the let-down if the racists come thru BIG enough!!!

At the same time that will hopefully make the high HIGHER when our man takes out the McPain/Failin' ticket. Gotta make the Rumba event - I'd be here alone anyway as the lovely wifey will be in MO at a "gal's" watch party.... Hearing aid still out for factory service, so that may be painful tho' - THAT'S why I'm not at the KABF Halloween Benefit Bash (that and the SMOKE!)

You da' MAN more so than da' Snake!!!

click my name and see the future if things go badly for the US on Tuesday.

I think your earlier post said it better DBI. Media moguls have much to gain if this election is seen as a cliff-hanger.

But I don't expect a clean decision on election night or morning. There will be too much rightful
contesting to do. Then MAK and strange have volunteered to do ACORN Election Fraud detection duty and we must have their report which will be broadcast on these pages for weeks.

When so many counties across the nation have, like our own Benton County had, the ability to have a 140% voter turn out then I would call for recounts.

Obama and crew are tougher than John Kerry and the ketchup queen. I seriously doubt they will lay down and allow a key state or two to be computerized/hacked away from them.

Lots of deceit to work through come Nov 5.

.

Hey NormaB. Have you glaced at Darth Cheney chart for Nov 4? Ominous stuff shown there.

Getting Real-

"On Friday, JPMorgan Chase became the latest big bank to pledge to cut monthly payments, by lowering interest rates and temporarily reducing loan balances for as many as 400,000 homeowners. Early in October, Bank of America, which acquired the large lender Countrywide, announced a similar effort aimed at 400,000 borrowers as part of a settlement with state officials.

"The banks are doing the cost-benefit analysis," said Gerard S. Cassidy, a banking analyst with RBC Capital Markets. "The banks don't want these customers going into foreclosure because it is a costly and punitive way of trying to collect your money."

Roughly 1.5 million homes were in foreclosure at the end of June, and economists expect several million more borrowers may default in the coming year as housing prices erode and job losses rise. Nearly one in 10 mortgages is either delinquent or in foreclosure.

Chase officials said their effort was not an act of charity or a response to government pressure. By renegotiating loans with borrowers, the bank is hoping to reduce the losses that it incurs in the foreclosure process and when it sells repossessed homes. Chase said it has already modified 250,000 loans since the start of 2007."

.

Say What - Don't know about Clouette and Harmon...but Clouette represented notorious thugs over and over. Several mutiple DWI offenders. Unknown number of drug thugs. Surprised this hasn't happened earlier. He's looked bad over the past few years. Way off his usual suave and debonair self. And his clientele has been lower and lower class. EXCEPT for Susan Marshall (repeat offending drunk driver) whose brother is a big court of appeals judge up in NE Arkansas. Interesting that little sister hired thug-representing slime Clouette. Any way, observers know that Clouette was on the downhill side or suave long, long ago. This arrest proves it.

In an earlier post, you picked at Gov. Palin for her claims that her First Amendment rights were being violated.

Were are your howls of protestation regarding the now repeated affronts to the freedom of the press by the Obama campaign. First, a TV station in Florida is banished from the list of entities with rights to intereview the Obama team and now three reporters are banished from the campaign flight. While the campaign claims it is only conincidence, the same three reporters work for three news organizations who formally endorsed McCain.

You whined and pissed and moaned for over 2 years when Huckabee supposedly removed you from a email listing which simply provided notice of events related to his office. You were never banned from attending and/or asking anything. You were never denied answers that other entities were provided, simply, according to you, removed from an email notice list.

In these Obama instances, we have actual and admitted proof of the actions occurring, admission by the campaign. Yet you haven't even issued a peep of complaint, haven't even so much as recognized publicly that the events even occurred.

Dear sir, this is nothing more, nothing more, than hypocrisy. I guess in these days and times, you really CAN have it both ways...

Al,

Here's your civics lesson for the day: "Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, . . . " The amendment, as were all the amendments, was written to protect the citizens from the abuse of government, not commercial enterprises or actions of individuals. Congress has passed laws in efforts to exercise some control over misbehaviors of groups and citizens (Fairness doctrine; libel and slander laws, etc.). You may not like what Obama did, but he has a legal right to do it. In fact, he did nothing more than McCain has done throughout the campaign. How is Obama's refusal to interview with specific hostile media different from Palin's refusal to interview with a large number of unsympathetic media persons? In addition, McCain has exercised rather rigid control over press access to his plane and himself. None of these issues are constitutional, and the voters can decide how important such behaviors are to them as they cast their ballots.

By the way--I don't blame Obama for dumping those media people. should have done it long ago!

"Dear sir, this is nothing more, nothing more, than hypocrisy. I guess in these days and times, you really CAN have it both ways..."

Wow, Al, buddy... You're a little late with the 'righteous indignation about political hypocrisy' message. Where have you been for the past eight years?

Was just reading Hullabloo and came across this nugget, I love it! Strangeglove will have a coniption tho. Oh what the hell he'll just have to sit and squirm. It references dubyah's disappearing act, cheney's mcsame endorsement and Obama's response.

"So George Bush may be in an undisclosed location, but Dick Cheney's out there on the campaign trail because he'd be delighted to pass the baton to John McCain. He knows that with John McCain you get a twofer: George Bush's economic policy and Dick Cheney's foreign policy - but that's a risk we cannot afford to take."
