Early startup. I'm going to stand in the early vote line and get 'er done today no matter what. I cruised three polling places this morning and the enormous lines were too long to join at that point.
I heard an interesting report about the Pine Bluff Clinton rally this morning. Anybody out there attend?
UPDATE: Just got a call from Jonesboro. The former president used his speaking opportunities for Barack Obama today at both Pine Bluf and Jonesboro to urge those present to vote AGAINST INITIATED ACT 1. He said, according to a person at both speeches, it was bad for Arkansas. He was encouraged to make the state by actress Mary Steenburgen, who made the trip, too. (It was reported to me that she didn't speak, but a reader said she did in Jonesboro.)

Comments
It was cleansing to vote Green.
Abel Tomlinson for Congress
Rebekah Kennedy for Senator
Cynthia McKinney for POTUS.
Why McKinney you ask?
Part 1.
Threshold. In Ark if a POTUS candidate receives a given number of votes then the threshold for future party elections/nominations is met without jumping over and thru a maize of campaign rules designed to keep us Democracy-Free.
Part 2. McCain will win Ark. Thus help out a deserving, up and coming new party. See Part 1.
Part 3. Triple your redemption-
a woman for femis
a black for libs
a Ph.d for thinking people

McCain volunteer admits to hoax

In March, Ms. Todd was asked to leave a grass-roots group of Ron Paul supporters in Brazos County, Texas, group leader Dustan Costine said. He said Ms. Todd posed as a supporter of former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and called the local Republican committee seeking information about its campaign strategies.

I went to the Pine Bluff rally. Bill has not become any more punctual since he left office. He arrived an hour and 15 minutes late. Local officials and dignitaries got us started, the Pryors and Mike Ross (I wish it had been Vic Snyder) spoke. Arriving with Bill were Bumpers, Beebe and Mary Steenburgen. No sign or mention of Blanche.
What did you hear?

Mark Pryor''s radio ad just came on advertising that Mark
"holds conservative social and family values"
"supports offshore oil drilling."
The ad failed to mention anything about supporting Bush's war.

ES,
I found this interesting:
"There was no black man with a knife, no robbery, no physical assault.
And the backwards "B" on her cheek? She's not sure, she told police, but assumes she did that herself. As for the black eyes, police assume they likewise were self-inflicted.
Her story quickly became political fodder on the Internet and spread around the world, fueled by the presidential campaign and Ms. Todd's political connections as a field representative for the College Republican National Committee and McCain volunteer."
Taking it in the eye for McCain, eh. When they get this low down and self-flagellating
you know we have hit new lows.

Arkansas ranks number 1 in percentage of residents indentifying themselves "Evangelical".
5% MORE Arkansans voted Bush in 2004 than 2000.
Arkansas ranks 47th in education.

How can we rank 47th in education when we had bubba clinton as governor for a million years? I thought that education was one of his highest priorities. Even hillary got in on the act. Arkansas has been predominately a democratic party state. Do you mean to tell me after all of those years of 'enlightened and progressive' leadership we still are at the bottom. I would think that with the LRSD at the vanguard of our educational effort in Arkansas we would be the shinning light on the hill.

Blanche seems to be doing everything possible to not be seen as an Obama supporter. I guess Markie Mark doesn't really care...but he pretty much votes like a pro life Republican most of the time anyway.
I think Obama is our next President but he loses a bunch of Southern states by at least ten points. He loses Arkansas by maybe 12 points. I think his approval rating here will slide from there and old Blanche seems to see this coming. I still think Blanche and Marion (Democrats to the core) are worried about going into the little high schools and convenience stores outside of Piggot and Newport and being seen as big Obama boosters.
The good news in all this is that if Obama is the socialist I think he is...a lot of blue dog Democrats are going to vote against him a lot of the time and the old checks and balances might actually save some of us from "the redistribution of wealth" your guy is already talking about.
Also a final question....if Saturday Night Live were ridiculing Obama's wife the way they are making fun of Palin...what do you think the response would be from the left? Just askin.
I'll go back now to dusting off that line you Democrats have been using for a few years now...because now it's my line....."He's not my president."
I'm still not sure there won't be some wierd shift in voters the final week that will make this thing a virtual tie. God help us all if one candidate takes the electoral vote and the other wins the popular.

Oh, you can't spoof michelle. That would be racist. Palin is white so you can do whatever you want. Its the progressive way. Well, maybe you would need to use a tiny bit of restraint since she is a woman. However, since she is a conservative woman that cancels out the tiny bit of restraint. In other words, you can treat a white conservative woman as a white man. Now did you get all of that. Not to worry. Just as any 'progressive' and they will explain it. FAYETTEVILLE - In a season of mostly discouraging results for Arkansas and Ole Miss comes this built-for-drama event.
Ole Miss Coach Houston Nutt returns to Reynolds Razorback Stadium at 6 tonight (payper-view ) to face the Arkansas program he guided for the past 10 years.
Ole Miss and Arkansas have identical records, 3-4 overall and 1-3 in SEC play, so this SEC West clash has potential bowl ramifications, but it's about so much more to the teams' fan bases.
Many Razorbacks fans would love to show Nutt they are better off without him. Ole Miss fans would love for Nutt to show up his old club in his old stomping grounds.
So, while games with more national impact and title implications will be played elsewhere around the SEC today, the Razorbacks and Rebels will play out their own soap opera with no national or regional television cameras on hand.

>>Also a final question....if Saturday Night Live were ridiculing Obama's wife the way they are making fun of Palin...what do you think the response would be from the left? Just askin.<<
STimes
I believe you have an nonparallel example. It should be Palin's spouse vs. Joe Biden's spouse.
Sarah Palin is the Vice Presidential nominee. Joe Biden is a Vice Presidential nominee.
As soon as Michelle says something like " I can see Canada from my house so I'm a trade expert" then SNL will fry her. But Michelle is a Harvard educated woman and very unlikely to claim false
credentials on make-believe evidence. Additionally-
Michelle attended Whitney Young High School, where she was on the honor roll four years, took advanced placement classes, was a member of the National Honor Society and served as student council treasurer.
Michelle graduated from high school in 1981, and went on to major in sociology and minor in African American studies at Princeton University, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in 1985.
She obtained her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Harvard Law School in 1988.
She was an associate at the Chicago office of the law firm Sidley Austin. She worked on marketing and intellectual property. At the firm she held public sector positions in the Chicago city government as an Assistant to the Mayor, and as Assistant Commissioner of Planning and Development. In 1993, she became Executive Director for the Chicago office of Public Allies, a non-profit organization encouraging young people to work on social issues in nonprofit groups and government agencies. She worked there nearly four years and set fund raising records for the organization that still stood a dozen years after she left
In 2002, she began working for the University of Chicago Hospitals, first as executive director for community affairs and, beginning May, 2005, as Vice President for Community and External Affairs.
She served as a salaried board member of TreeHouse Foods, Inc.
She serves on the board of directors of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs
According to the couple's 2006 income tax return, Michelle's salary was $273,618 from the University of Chicago Hospitals, while he had a salary of $157,082 from the United States Senate. The total Obama income, however, was $991,296 including $51,200 she earned as a member of the board of directors of TreeHouse Foods, plus investments and royalties from his books."
Now there's Michelle Obama's bio.
STimes, why don't you give us a bio on Cindy McCain and then do Tod Palin's bio.
.
Michelle Obama did not portray herself as an advisor to her husband. In fact, she was quoted in interviews saying "My job is not a senior adviser.

She changed job titles but no appreciable change in job duties and got a hefty increase in salary while at the Chicago hospital. Gee, I wonder what that was all about? However, I get e-mails from the obama campaign from her and she delivers responses for the democrats to Bush's radio addresses. Sounds like we are getting another co-president. Well, two for the price of one should be a bargain. She sounds like she has a lot of relevant expertise to be co-president. I mean a law degree and a glorified pr job is relevant isn't it?

Here's a starter-
Todd Palin is a graduate of Wasilla High School, Wasilla, Alaska. He has taken some college courses but does not have a degree.
Financial statements filed in 2007 show that Palin earned $92,790 from BP and fishing.
vs.
(Michelle's salary was $273,618 plus $51,200 she earned as a member of the board of directors)
Gregg Erickson, columnist for the Anchorage Daily News, said that Todd Palin "obviously plays an important role ... I've seen him in the governor's office, and I know she's conducted interviews in the governor's office with him present." Palin is copied on e-mails dealing with official state business. He helped write the state budget, has been involved in personnel matters, and has called lawmakers when he or his wife have disagreed with what they have done.
Palin was a judge in the 2008 Miss Alaska pageant.
Palin's stepmother, Faye Palin, ran unsuccessfully in 2002 for the position of Mayor for Wasilla, Alaska, to succeed Palin's wife, Sarah, who was term-limited. Faye Palin, who is pro-choice and a registered Democrat, lost to a candidate endorsed by Sarah Palin.

Nice try...next time use ASK instead of Google search or maybe Yahoo! You Yahoo!
Tech Support
Just in case you think you are TC (technologically challenged). The following is an excerpt taken from a Wall Street Journal article:
1.Compaq is considering changing the command "Press Any Key" to "Press Return Key" because of the flood of calls asking where the "Any" key is.
2.AST technical support had a caller complaining that her mouse was hard to control with the dust cover on. The cover turned out to be the plastic bag the mouse was packaged in.
3.Another Compaq technician received a call from a man complaining that the system wouldn't read word processing files from his old diskettes. After trouble-shooting for magnets and heat failed to diagnose the problem, it was found that the customer had labeled the diskettes, then rolled them into the typewriter to type the labels.
4.Another AST customer was asked to send a copy of her defective diskettes. A few days later a letter arrived from the customer along with photocopies of the floppies.
5.A Dell technician advised his customer to put his troubled floppy back in the drive and close the door. The customer asked the tech to hold on, and was heard putting the phone down, getting up and crossing the room to close the door to his room.
6.Another Dell customer called to say he couldn't get his computer to fax anything. After 40 minutes of trouble-shooting, the technician discovered the man was trying to fax a piece of paper by holding it in front of the monitor screen and hitting the "send" key.
7.Yet another Dell customer called to complain that his keyboard no longer worked. He had cleaned it by filling up his tub with soap and water and soaking the keyboard for a day, then removing all the keys and washing them individually.
8.A Dell technician received a call from a customer who was enraged because his computer had told him he was "bad and an invalid". The tech explained that the computer's "bad command" and "invalid" responses shouldn't be taken personally.
9.A confused caller to IBM was having troubles printing documents. He told the technician that the computer had said it "couldn't find printer". The user had also tried turning the computer screen to face the printer - but that his computer still couldn't "see" the printer.
10.An exasperated caller to Dell Computer Tech Support couldn't get her new Dell Computer to turn on. After ensuring the computer was plugged in, the technician asked her what happened when she pushed the power button. Her response, "I pushed and pushed on this foot pedal and nothing happens." The "foot pedal" turned out to be the computer's mouse.
11.Another customer called Compaq tech support to say her brand-new computer wouldn't work. She said she unpacked the unit, plugged it in and sat there for 20 minutes waiting for something to happen. When asked what happened when she pressed the power switch, she asked "What power switch?"
12.True story from a Novell NetWire SysOp:
Caller: "Hello, is this Tech Support?"
Tech: "Yes, it is. How may I help you?"
Caller: "The cup holder on my PC is broken and I am within my warranty period. How do I go about getting that fixed?"
Tech: "I'm sorry, but did you say a cup holder?"
Caller: "Yes, it's attached to the front of my computer."
Tech: "Please excuse me if I seem a bit stumped, It's because I am. Did you receive this as part of a promotional, at a trade show? How did you get this cup holder? Does it have any trademark on it?"
Caller: "It came with my computer, I don't know anything about a promotional. It just has '4X' on it." At this point the Tech Rep had to mute the caller, because he couldn't stand it. He was laughing too hard. The caller had been using the load drawer of the CD-ROM drive as a cup holder, and snapped it off the drive!
13.Another IBM customer had troubles installing software and rang for support. "I put in the first disk, and that was OK. It said to put in the second disk, and had some problems with the disk. When it said to put in the third disk - I couldn't even fit it in..." The user hadn't realized that "Insert Disk 2" meant to remove Disk 1 first.
14.In a similar incident, a customer had followed the instructions for installing software. The instructions said to remove the disk from it's cover and insert into the drive. The user had physically removed the casing of the disk and wondered why there were problems.

I am guessing there will be a slow, steady drop in oil prices before the November election. Big oil does not want a Democrat in the White House and lower prices, along with their PAC contributions, will be their effort to assure there's 4 more years of Bushism at the helm.

Thank you, bejeez, for the giggle.
Still stunned about Anne's passing. The hubster and I had hoped for better... sometimes, even when it's very dark, you have to hope.
Went out to Boo at the Zoo tonight and saw a phenomenal crowd. Everyone enjoying themselves and behaving... though a few of the stands ran out of candy, probably from having a lot more kids than expected. Kid costumes seem to be rather cute this year... or maybe I am getting sentimental in my maternal age.
And perhaps it was just the locale, but most everyone I heard at Sid McMath Thursday was planning to vote Obama. I stopped counting chickens the day the coop got blown open, back in November 2000. Every vote counts (or should count) and you never can tell what's going to happen.

Here's a ball-grabber:
"Republican fears of historic Obama landslide unleash civil war for the future of the party
Senior Republicans believe that John McCain is doomed to a landslide defeat which will hand Barack Obama more political power than any president in a generation.
By Tim Shipman in Durango, Colorado
Last Updated: 12:37AM BST 26 Oct 2008
Aides to George W.Bush, former Reagan White House staff and friends of John McCain have all told The Sunday Telegraph that they not only expect to lose on November 4, but also believe that Mr Obama is poised to win a crushing mandate.
They believe he will be powerful enough to remake the American political landscape with even more ease than Ronald Reagan did in 1980.
The prospect of an electoral rout has unleashed a bitter bout of recriminations both within the McCain campaign and the wider conservative movement, over who is to blame and what should be done to salvage the party's future.
Mr McCain is now facing calls for him to sacrifice his own dwindling White House hopes and focus on saving vulnerable Republican Senate seats which are up for grabs on the same day.
Their fear is that Democrat candidates riding on Mr Obama's popularity may win the nine extra seats they need in the Senate to give them unfettered power in Congress.

>>Yes, jazzy, but sometimes it's the people we know who do us in; could be true in this case.<<
I hope you're wrong but I suspect you could be correct. So far police have said no evidence of forced entry. So many details we don't know and understandably so. There was just too much one on one violence for this to be a random burglary.
You know the family is going thru a roller-coaster of a nightmare.
