Standing by their man

Independent Dillard's directors, including Little Rock's Warren Stephens, have issued a statement in support of William Dillard II, CEO of the department store chain. Some unhappy shareholders want new leadership. Arkansas Business reports.

Also in LR business news today: Talk Business has the Department of Justice news release signing off on the Verizon-Alltel deal, conditioned on sale of some of Alltel's properties in 22 states.

You got to hand it to em....them damn Republicans stick together like glue. Dillard & Stephens, just like Cheney & Bush, arm in arm standing on the deck as the ship goes to the bottom. I give em 18 points for loyalty. Total score out of a possible 100: 18 points.

Could this be payback for Dillards after their uprooting of the hippies on Riverside Dr to build their fancy smancy office building on Cantrell?

Sorry Ruth, this is a case of a guy buying Dillard's stock at $32.00 a share and it's now $4.50. Not a wise move on his part.

You cannot escape the destiny you write for yourself, no matter how much money you have.
