The howling mob
Frank Rich: The McCain campaign imagery and words are intentional and the responses unsurprising. And if you want to play guilt by association, consider Westbrook Pegler, who wrote words Sarah Palin has drawn on.
Oh, and also, the MSM.

"What makes them different, and what has pumped up the Weimar-like rage at McCain-Palin rallies, is the violent escalation in rhetoric, especially (though not exclusively) by Palin. "
Oh come on Frank. Let's forget the nice word spade and call it a god dammed shovel.
Look at how she managed to stir so much discontent and polarization in Alaska in
2 short years with her alliances to secessionist, her personal vendettas, her two-faced
philosophy of small government, pro capitalism small shop-keeper all while endearing Alaskans
with direct give-aways of private oil company money by way of Huey Long policies and ideas.
Of course they're "pumped up." Why do you think she was chosen? She's a professional
noise-maker, the wild rattler that stirs the crazy-eyed children of the GOP to vote for
man-dinosaur relationships, Six-Pack Joes to vote against their best interests and buy into
any fear-based sheez she tosses to the faithful. That's why she is there. It was a desperate
move by desperate People of the Lie. And you see, the government paycheck living family of
12 years is "one of us" hence her anger is perceived as justifiable. Plus, to help the rage along she is witch free, hence Rapture Ready for the fundies.
It's a paradigm shift and the GOP has been caught with it's pants down. Imagine if your self as rich, privileged, superwhite Cindy McCain and your American-hero hubby is getting beat by a Negro. It hurts. Just ask Hillary. It's enough to make other whites mad as hell and want to kill that uppity Negro who talks in complete sentences about things that 75% of us understand.

Sarah, Tina Fey has already fried you, crispy sweetie. BHO and company didn't need to spend a dime. Millions wait up on Saturday nights to see what caricature of you is coming next. Well , on Thurs nights now. You are the best thing that every happened to SNL in a long time......

I disagree that race is all McCain has left. Presuming that fails to turn the momentum in his favor, he will turn to something even more odious. Perhaps he will manufacture evidence Obama collaborated in the 9/11 attacks. But it's clear he thinks it's so important he be elected President of the United States--with control over the US military, which is all he really cares about--that he will engage in any tactic toward that end.
Incidentally, get a load of this: http://www.cqpolitics.com/wmspage.cfm?parmA1=5&docID=hsnews-000002974001 . We all know, and McCain himself even acknowledges, that he was irresponsible in his early years: he played around and divorced his first wife to marry a rich woman who could bankroll his political career; he graduated near the bottom of his class at Annapolis. But if this tale is even close to being true, he should have gone to Leavenworth. I imagine his admiral daddy had something to do with helping him to avoid that fate.

elwood, that is the best analysis and humor piece i have read in a ong time. it was certainly equal or above anything i have seen printed here in a long time. sometimes people come up with a good humor/parody but have not quite understood the small parts do pull out out. the right wing rethuglicans seem to lack humor and rarely seem funny in the attempt, just clumsy as joke writers. you have done an elegant job of handling both.

McCain's "Bomb, Bomb Iran" solo was enough to convince this voter that he was not presidential material, but I tend to believe the statements of those who served with him that he is reckless which is actually reinforced by his own statements of his earlier life. I do believe that adults can overcome a reckless youth, but in many ways Sir McSame seems forever mired in his youthful temperment of dangerous recklessness and hotheaded outbursts.
No thinking person could support McCain for POTUS, IMO, especially considering his insane choice of Palin.

Thanks zonker. I trust your systems are kicking in sufficiently and all is well in the zonker home. Say hello to your lovely Mrs.
Didn't you just love McCain's talk last week of cutting back on Medicare and other "entitlements" ?
One thing that den of slimy snakes never talks about cutting back is their retirement package and superb medical care for life and it includes their wives and dependent children.
I know how to fix Medicare and Medicaid. Every time a cut is made in either program just cut Congress's retirement package and medical coverage.

Excellent. Thank you Ron for this:
"Meet Sarah Palin's Radical Right-Wing Pals - Extremists Mark Chryson and Steve Stoll
........
Tremendous mainstream media coverage has been spent debating Barack Obama's past "extremists" connections, while virtually little if any attention is given to Gov. Palin's own personal and political extremists associations.
"On the afternoon of Sept. 24 in downtown Palmer, Alaska, as the sun began to sink behind the snowcapped mountains that flank the picturesque Mat-Su Valley, 51-year-old Mark Chryson sat for an hour on a park bench, reveling in tales of his days as chairman of the Alaska Independence Party. The stocky, gray-haired computer technician waxed nostalgic about quixotic battles to eliminate taxes, support the "traditional family" and secede from the United States.
Chryson has been a political fixture in the hometown of the Republican vice-presidential nominee for over a decade. During the 1990s, when Chryson directed the AIP, he and another radical right-winger, Steve Stoll, played a quiet but pivotal role in electing Palin as mayor of Wasilla and shaping her political agenda afterward. Both Stoll and Chryson not only contributed to Palin's campaign financially, they played major behind-the-scenes roles in the Palin camp before, during and after her victory. .....
Palin backed Chryson as he successfully advanced a host of anti-tax, pro-gun initiatives, including one that altered the state Constitution's language to better facilitate the formation of anti-government militias.

Yes, zonker...wonderful read, eLwood! Sometimes someone writes something that says it so much better/clearer than the jumble in my mind, and it's wonderful.
McSame et al are reaping their own harvest of hate...purposely. The irony of this hate-filled, radical group of Palenites trying to tar Obama with their sins is staggering. In no earthly Universe would Obama or Hillary get away with a fraction of their crap. The pregnant teen alone would've been absolute proof that every liberal idea in the world was wrong and that Republicans were right about EVERYTHING.
On the other hand...this crap worked so well on Bill/Gore/Kerry they have every reason to believe it'll work again. Hopefully...they may have gone too far this time...even for the 'dogshit' voting bloc.
And zonker... great to hear from you.

Speaking of the howling white mob --
My niece just told me that the middle school she attends sent them home with a newspaper talking about how McCain is great and how Obama is bad.
Isn't this against some sort of D.Ed policy? Should school run (not sponsored, but run) publications be allowed to actively endorse one candidate? (And I would ask that even if MLK Elementary sent home a flyer blasting McCain and endorsing Obama.)
Seriously -- does any one know if schools are allowed to do this? I want to know what the rules and regs are before I call them up.
ARK. BLOG: I'd love to see what the kids took home.
