Celebrate, celebrate
They danced to the music of Obama's victory all over America last night as spontaneous celebrations broke out across the land. Video above is of the "Bush Out" rally in front of the White House. A good roundup on Daily Kos with a snappy punch line.
It's a great day for Democrats and Republicans alike. For Democrats, Barack Obama was elected President. For Republicans, there was finally dancing in the streets and Americans greeted as liberators.
Dare I add? MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Comments
As a supporter of the doomed McCain campaign, I find some consolation in knowing that Obama's victory means that the Clintons will never soil the Oval Office again.

OK, the first thing that I want Barry and the Demos to change is this election business. If elections are going to continue to be this much fun, they need to be held on the first Friday in November, which needs to be a national holiday, so we can all have the weekend to get around to feeling like going back to work.

I spent the evening downtown and enjoyed it for many reasons.
It was good to be in the company of the Arkansas Times staff. Asian travelers approached me on the sidewalk seeking suggestions of opportunities from them to experience the local culture and food. I was glad to bring them with me to Rumba as I explained the Arkansas Times was a state wide independent newspaper free of the trappings and manipulations of large media holding companies.
Later we moved to Sticky Fingers and there we found so much excitement and energy in the air you could feel it. I asked them to look across the room and notice there was young and old, black, white, brown yellow. Some were dressed very dignified and some in jeans. There was one thing they all had in common, hope and the happiness it brings. I explained this is America.
As I walked to my car satisfied it was a night well spent, I was accompanied by numerous cars honking their horns accented with cheers and waving.
After some rest, we as a community need to return our focus on one very important local issue - cutting through all the bull and spin of local politics and get down to really protecting Lake Maumelle - our drinking water.

Congrats. Obama is the Tiger Woods of politics.
My consolation is that Bush will no longer soil the Oval office although he still has a couple of months to wreak his brand of havoc.
I just hope that a democratic party controlled government will focus on actual issues. Obama will be a fine president. It's the single party grip I have come to fear.

I'm so excited I'd be giddy if my body would cooperate!!! For the first time in eight years I can see some daylight...way off, but, nonetheless, it's the first glimmer of political light I've seen in awhile. No more Monkeyboy...NO MORE!!! And, I'm thrilled to be wrong about Obama's ability to whoop the Rove Republican hate machine...THRILLED!!! And now the radio's reporting that Saxby hasn't won yet (imagine, some missing votes...) and Norm Coleman's announced victory has been rescinded. It just doesn't get any better, any sweeter.
Happy days are here again...well, at least, we've been give a reprieve from torture, Guantanamo, Patriot Act, AT&T Hell.
Oh yeah...Rush, Sean, Ann, FATASS, blah blah can kiss my FLAMING LIBERAL ass...if they can catch me as I twirl with glee!!!

Ark Blog- as a McBush supporter I'm hopin (dropped 'g' ala Mizriz Palin) you'll call your president on his private line and direct him to put the people's house back in order (you, know, the way he found it way back in January 2001) in the next just under 76 days he has left in office. It is the least he can do.
I know it's a tall order seein (oops, sorry, another dropped 'g', it's habit formin, oops there I go again) with all your people have broken. Show a little class and put it back the way it was, pleeze.
We'll be watchin (not having to type g's save time!). Maybe Mizriz Palin, in her newly found spare time, can lead a campaign to reduce the alphabet to 25 letters. Slogan- "Down with G's" or "Don't let G's adopt children" or "Don't let your G's String" or something equally catchy.

I ain't daring you. Mission Accomplished (Operation Proboscidea Backlash) but we are still going to have to rebuild a country...ours.
National debt on 5/3/01: 5,636,663,639,692.83
National debt as of 11/3/08: 10,556,177,748,045.21
Interest on debt is $451 billion last year.
Reagan more than doubled the national debt during his administration but that was only $1.6 Trillion or so.
Recession, real wage reduction, health care cost soaring, plus a housing market and retirement portfolio and credit market that has collapsed like a flan in a cupboard. I'm sure I forgot a few things. We did win back some world cred by electing Obama. You would have seen an unhappy world if McCain had won. Really, McCainiacs, i ask you-Would there have been celebrations anywhere outside of the United States if McCain had won?

Once the new team gets settled in and down to business, how long do you think it will be before we can start planning our next Carribean vacation to Havana, and exports of Chevy pickups, Caterpillar tractors, Arkansas poultry, rice, etc. to the island along with the appearance of Cuban cigars and rums in our local stores?

Oh happy day! I'll just ignore the tacky comments of the unhappy today. What's more important is the reaction coming from the rest of the world. Rest of the world....you know....the people who could kill us if we smack them around a few more years. Click on my name to see what the rest of the world thinks of the Obama Revolution.
Amidst the horn honking and screaming and dancing last night at Rumba, I could hear a long low sigh of relief coming from the rest of the world. I bet our global blood pressure is down 20 points today. And that spells added safety for my family and yours. I'm pretty much over with the USA Charles Atlas deal of kicking sand in the face of the rest of the world. Screw that!
Let's be friends....ain't nothing wrong with holding hands and singing Kumbaya....go on...give a it a try....it's fun and most satisfying! Give me yer hand Ark blogger.....let me squeeze a little happy into it.
I can see I won't get much work done today....we do need to have elections on Fridays so we can spend the weekend celebrating or crying our eyes out. Happy Days Happy Days! Kumbaya!

DBI - Thanks, but the missus and I are on a little holiday on Mount Magazine, so she's got my hand already. Incredibly, the cabins up here have fiber-optic Internet connections.
By the way, she's an Obama supporter, so she's in a good mood today.
