Early voting UPDATE

IN LINE MONDAY: Along Broadway. Photo by Brian Chilson

Remember, early voting ends today with voting ONLY at the county building at Markham and Broadway. That polling place closes at 5 p.m., although any in line at that point will be allowed to vote. More than 70,000 will vote early in Pulaski County before it's over, Election Commissioner Kent Walker says. Regular voting will be from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Re the presidential race: Thanks to The Arkansas Project for calling attention to the ARG poll that shows McCain ahead of Obama by only 7 in Arkansas, 51-44. ARG hasn't had a good year, however, so ....

UPDATE: Expect a line for Pulaski early voting. At 10:25 a.m., it's out the door to the corner of Markham and Broadway and then down Broadway a block to Second.

Comments

I will be in line just before 7:30 pm Tuesday night so that I can be one of the last to vote. I don't expect much of a wait because my polling place is newer one without as many voters assigned there.

But if it takes hours I will be there and thanking the poll workers. Then I head down to the Rumba Rev Room.

THE CELLPHONE EFFECT.

Clik my name to see a very good article on FiveThirtyEight.com that discusses the cellphone effect.

There is also a very good article on Hillary in Salon. Don't give a damn what the haters say, this lady is good for our country.

This county, state, and country should be absolutely ASHAMED that people have to wait in lines that long to vote. Am I the only one that realizes how undemocratic it is?

Perhaps if voters had not been so apathetic for so many years then the long lines problem would not be as bad. If you have 70+% of the people voting every year then then county/state/country would be better prepared for all these voters. Instead we've been a country that sits on our asses and bitches non stop instead of actually going out to vote. It takes an idiot president who has nearly destroyed our country to get all the Democrats to vote. And it takesa black man to get all those scared racist voters to go out and vote. (My bet is there would not be as many Republicans voting this year if there would have been a white Democrat. Lord knows there are scared of a black man in office.)

eark, you should be ashamed.....
waiting in line for two hours is hardly a sacrifice for a vibrant democracy. try and look at any other democracy or so called democracy around the world-lines for hours and hours and people wanting to vote.
has the u.s. become such a fast food society that they're not willing to spend a little time casting a ballot.
if we can spend time waiting to shop at Christmas or in line for concerts I think the world will make it.

move on eark about your business and let the us do our thing, electing our next president. no one is complaining.
