Give Dan's regards to Dogtown

The Iconoclast rarely lets a day pass without razzing Fayetteville Mayor Dan Coody, often for his penchant for traveling to exotic destinations on the taxpayers.

Today, Coody gets a backhanded compliment. Coody, The Iconoclast notes, at least travels less than Commodore Patrick Henry Hays, admiral of the Arkansas River Rusty Ready Reserve Fleet and mayor of Argenta, Rose City, Levy, Park Hill, etc.

I'm sorry to admit The Iconoclast relied on a fine piece of reporting in the late Dogtown Wire. Wish I"d noticed it at the time. It reported in August that Mayor Hays had spent more than $23,000 in about 17 months for 30 taxpayer-financed travel excursions all over the U.S. Zowie.

...and this paper endorsed Mayer Hays.

Yeah, they endorsed Hays. Do you really want a mayor with 10 police reports filed against him (Bubba)?

I personally don't want our town to become a joke. Hays has done a good job as mayor and until somebody better comes along, I'll continue to support him.

If you need more facts then click on my name.

And is that travel for just the mayor or for everyone in the mayor's office?

So what if Bubba has "ten police reports" filed against him? That's nothing compared to a convicted felon running for mayor of Fayetteville or the multiple-identitied mayor of Centerton. We shouldn't let NWA have every clown in the circus.

It was just the mayor alone, no one else in his office.

ARK. BLOG: It was at the top of the page when I hit the site today. No matter. Still worthwhile.

Oh, wait. Now I see. I linked to his link earlier, not to his fresh link today. I fixed that.

.

Max, I don't think it's August 18th today.....

I think it's important to know what the travel was for and what resulted from it. If that travel brought jobs to NLR or other economic benefits, then we'd be backwards to complain about it.

I don't know many CEO's or business owners that don't do a lot of traveling. I guess if you don't travel much, you might think it's all fun and see it as a luxury. Business travel gets old and is not as much fun as some might imagine.
