Life with Layla

I've written before about Layla, the foundling Charolais calf that columnist Gene Lyons, now a Perry County gentleman rancher, took in and nursed by hand. He's written an update today and I have the benefit of a photo to complete the picture of the young beauty.

Well, God bless little Layla! And Gene Lyons. And Dr. Alvin Williams. And the dogs. And step-mamma Molly. And, finally, St. Francis of Assisi, whose wise words still ring true: "Ask the beasts and they will teach you the beauty of this earth."

Great, quick read.

"For the time being then, Layla has two mommies. "
Mr. Lyons, I'd be careful saying things like this in Arkansas. DHS might come out and put her in a cow orphanage rather than allow her to be raised by two unwed mothers. Ah, to joke again...

Now....this is just cow porn!

Is it hamburger yet?
