Loserman is forgiven
The Senate Democratic caucus today allowed Sen. Joe Lieberman to keep his committee chairmanship. Vote was 42-13, TPM said. More here.
The vote was secret. I've asked the offices of Sens. Pryor and Lincoln for comments.
UPDATE: Lincoln and Pryor voted with the majority.
Pryor said: “While I was disappointed with Joe’s actions during the campaign season, I agree with President-elect Obama that there is no need to hold grudges and it’s time to move on.”
Lincoln said: “Like others in our caucus, I was disappointed in Senator Lieberman’s handling of the campaign. But as President-elect Obama has said, now is the time to move forward. Our country faces some extraordinary challenges, and our caucus is as united as we’ve ever been to address those issues head on.”

I'll just leave you with a couple of quotes
"There is only one party in the United States, the Property Party . . . and it has two right wings: Republican and Democrat." - Gore Vidal
Or as Glenn Greenwald put it a couple of weeks ago...
"The Democratic Party structure in Washington, and particularly its leadership in Congress, is more corrupted and destructive than anything else there is -- with the exception of the right-wing faction that has been running the country for the last eight years. Contrary to the inane conventional Beltway wisdom that bipartisanship is oh-so-tragically scarce, Democrats as an entity have, over and over, passively acquiesced to, and frequently actively enabled and participated in, many of the worst abuses of the last eight years. Their leadership in Congress is corrupt and craven to the bone in many of the same ways the GOP leadership has been -- and they're about to be far more entrenched and their power far less checked."

There is not one thing about this vote which has an air of decency, self respect or honest reasoning behind it. The Dems have no spine and care not for the will of the people in any manner.
Thank GOD I didn't vote for Obama Emmanuel Lieberman Pryor Democrats.

Here's hoping the people of Connecticut correct this error in four years. My fear is, however, this is indicative of how effective the Democrats will be in establishing their agenda.
I understand Obama's borrowing Lincoln's "Team of Rivals" approach. Even The Godfather said, "Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer." But let's not forget, at some point they both started pulling triggers.

I can't wait for Monkeyboy's blanket pardon of anyone remotely related to the based-on-lies War...and Obama's pardon (figuratively if not literally) of all things Monkeyboy. Couldn't impeach Nixon or Monkeyboy for their crimes, but if Bill had gotten away with lying about a White House blow-job the 'civilized' world would've come to an end. I don't mind Bill's impeachment (at least it sorta shows the president isn't untouchable); I MIND THE HELL OUT OF NIXON, MONKEYBOY AND LIEberman's UNTOUCHABLE STATUS. For 'the good of the country' my ass.

Oh THAT is such a surprise Mark and here I was thinking that you might turn on your BFF Joe and finally do something right.

The top had already telegraphed that this was the 'desirable' outcome, so what else could be expected?

I'm sure hundreds of thousands who lost their homes in Katrina... not to forget the dead people or wasted / lost billions.
Yeah, Mark... we shouldn't hold a grudge and of course we should just move on since you were a part of the Lieberman cover up team in the DHS committee.
Meet the new right wing cretins, same as the old right wing cretins.

Let's don't be too cocksure of ourselves about this.
How valuable will Joe's vote be to end the first R filibuster on national health care? You know
both are coming.

Elwood, national health care?
You really think the current pack of Dems will allow a sincere effort at national healthcare to reach the senate floor?
You really think Lieberman would change his vote on healthcare (whatever it might be) out of spite?
You really think Lieberman will take on big insurance when he wouldn't even allow scrutiny of DHS?

Boy do I hope you're right, elwood; but I can't recall one instance when a political trade off (letting the 'bad' politician go free in exchange for a future benefit) resulted in something positive for the masses. LIEberman has already blackmailed/slimed his way too far for my comfort. Evidently the Democratic Party, Senate wise, couldn't wipe its ass if Senators didn't let LIEberman do whatever the hell he wants. That must be some file.
I think he should caucus with the Democrats; I don't think he should keep his plum committee assignment.

From KOS:
Asked what it would mean if Lieberman kept his chairmanship, one Senate Democratic aide said bluntly: "The left has been foiled again. They can rant and rage but they still do not put the fear into folks to actually change their votes. Their influence would be in question."
I hope this puts to rest the notion that this is all some master stroke of kumbayah, of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer.
This is about telling you that you mean nothing. That democracy is a nice word, but it should never threaten the entitlement of the most exclusive club in the world.
No matter what Joe Lieberman does, the people who are protecting him hate you much more than they hate him.

And Blanche's vote? How long does it take to say yes or no on how she voted?
We've got Pryor's response, where's Lincoln's?

I'd say Zelda's onto something. It must be SOME file, kinda like the ones ole J. Edgar amassed over 37 years . . .
Let bygones be bygones? I'll concede that sometimes it's best to keep a close eye on a backstabber, but let them continue to run part of the show? I don't think so.

OK....let this be a lesson to all us married people. Next time you catch your wife or husband buck naked having slatherly monkeysex with a stranger, instead of getting a gun or a lawyer, start telling yourself l MUST MOVE ON. In the interest of your marriage and the mental health of your kids and the happiness of your relatives and neighbors.....don't seek revenge. You may need that wife or husband in the future...when their libido is on the wane. Don't punishing your cheating asshole wife or husband.....MOVE ON.
I hope local banks will think like this if some homeless person has a bad day tomorrow and decides to hold up a bank or 2 to make sure Thanksgiving is real thanky this year. If you beat the robber senseless or put his stealing ass in jail......the bank might lose a customer. That very robber might find Jesus and get his GED next year. And with a few mail order college courses, that very robber might think of the new idea that will revolutionize the banking industry or make our current ripening depression months and months shorter. Someday you may want that robber on your side....so in the name of God and his boy......MOVE ON.
Look how well Arkansas has done since we didn't prosecute Mike Huckabee for destroying 300 thousand dollars worth of state property! Look at the contribution Steve Clark is making up in Fayetteville! Oh wait....I seem to recall Steve Clark didn't get any of that MOVE ON stuff. hmmm
I guess we'll never know.....if we'd been easier on Charles Manson back in the 60s....he might be the greeter at St. Judes today. We should have looked at all those dead bodies in California and just MOVED ON.
Now...I must say....I was totally surprised that Blanche & Mark voted to forgive LIEberman of his sins. I was just sure they'd want to punish him. But then, since Blanche & Mark took office they've always MOVED ON when something vitally important to our country waltzed across their desks. They've been letting Cheney-Bush MOVE ON for years now. But I just thought this one time that Blanche might be afraid that LIEberman might start saying farmers are Marxists next and that Pryor might have worried that LIEberman will work for his opponent 6 years from now, and vote against old Joe. But I see they're still MOVING ON.
Well...don't worry. LIEberman got away with it this time and because he did, they'll be lots of LIEbermans in the future. Bad people don't quit doing bad things when there is no punishment coming their way. Next time a cop pulls you over, just roll down the window and when he gets up to your car scream MOVE ON as you hit the gas peddle. Let me know how that works out.

>>"The left has been foiled again.<<
Seeing Kos and HuffPo, the Limbaughs of the left, unhappy sorta makes my day.....
That said, I hope other Senators lose their cool and trip old Joe every time he walks thru a door. I'd love to see him flat on his face a few times and maybe that Marxist, Obama, could be the one to help true-blue Joe to his feet. I want him to owe his food, blood and oxygen to the Democratic Party. Joe Lieberman is a disgusting, vile LITTLE man.
