Have at it.
Election note: Nothing to report on the Dist. 38 House recount. It's set for Nov. 18. There are still 43 military ballots that could potentially reach here in time for consideration. Countywide, some 600 provisional ballots are to be reviewed for vote eligibility, but there's no way of knowing how many, if any, of those are from eligible voters who live in Dist. 38. John Edwards (D) still has the same 74-vote lead over Kelly Eichler (R).
Those provisionals, depending, could put some other races in play, too.
I'm out.

Priceless, Jazzy... and what is wrong with our nation when you can purchase "Birth of a Nation" and not "Song of the South?" A film about Klansmen, even though it did break ground in film, is still available for purchase -- but an animated collection of tales is banned. Are we really that sensitive? I don't see anyone banning "Gone With The Wind" for its portrayal of Mammy -- or any sort of action against blaxploitation films. Crazy world we live in.

Nov. 7 (Bloomberg) -- Franklin Bank Corp., the Houston-based bank controlled by Lewis Ranieri, was closed by regulators today, the 18th U.S. bank seized this year amid mounting real-estate losses and slumping home sales.
Franklin Bank, with $5.1 billion in assets and $3.7 billion in deposits, was shut by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. Closely held Prosperity Bank acquired all deposits, the FDIC said today in an e-mailed statement. The failed bank's 46 offices will open as branches of Prosperity, the FDIC said.

Here ya go durango. It's been written about for 4 years:
How do people get C. difficile disease?
People in good health usually don't get C. difficile disease. People who have other illnesses or conditions requiring prolonged use of antibiotics and the elderly are at greater risk of acquiring this disease. The bacteria are found in the feces. People can become infected if they touch items or surfaces that are contaminated with feces and then touch their mouth or mucous membranes. Healthcare workers can spread the bacteria to other patients or contaminate surfaces through hand contact.<<
I can repeat horror stories from hospitals where my germ-conscious partner has worked
Most of them concern the behavior of Md.s
Some pull off a wound dressing and toss it on the patient's bed..
some don't wash their hands between patient visits.
Some think their stethoscopes never need cleaning.
The list is long.
I was visiting my post-operative friend the Mayor of Greenland, John Gray a week ago.
The cleaning crew came in dusted the floor, cleaned the stools, and mopped as we waited
and watched outside.
They never cleaned the (3) door handles with anything. A strong disinfectant should have been used.
They never cleaned a night stand, nor did they wipe the bed railings where visitors often
stand. None of the patient's room furniture was touched by a cleaner or disinfectant.

Thank you jazzy. He will like it. The little critter is already sacked out, which may come as a surprise to some who met him the other night.
(We only keep him up late at night in public bars on special occasions, such as historical presidential election parties.)

I was there...I think young hugh Jr, knocked back a couple of shots of Yeager just before we arrived at Rumba. Poor kid's legs were all rubbery and his speech was slurred. I got distracted looking at a fabulous tall black woman and next thing I knew the kid was passed out. Sorta reminded me of a cute young Foster Brooks. Tsk tsk wink wink
Man....I've been wiped since Tuesday night! At first I thought a good looking red head I met slipped me a mickey, but I think maybe I'm just experiencing a post-2 long damn years of a soul draining Presidential campaign relief. I'm feeling really blank.
When I feel like typing, I only feel like typing Don't worry, Obama will fix it. It's OK, Obama's coming to the rescue. Relax....if Obama picked him, he must be alright. I don't want to think about problems or come up with arguments or Google a damn thing. I may still be sitting in my worn out old leather desk chair, but my brain is on vacation somewhere in the Caribbean.
Maybe I'm done? Anyone wanna start trading recipes?
Hey! Call 1-800-260-6782 to order your special President Barack Obama 24k gold layered genuine full color US silver dollar and half dollar from the New England mint! Oh snap....I'm so dialing right now!

I've been following the progress of an AT&T U-Verse installation. Here's is how it's going so far.
After AT&T installed U-Verse in October, the telephones quit working for two weeks. The wiring in the house was installed correctly, but AT&T could not activate the service due to problems elsewhere in their system.
The passwords for authorizing various things (accessing the account on-line, sending and receiving e-mail, etc.) are all out of sync.
AT&T cut an existing high-speed Ethernet cable in the house wiring for no apparent reason.
After problems sending e-mail, AT&T tech support instructed the customer to delete the mail account and start over. That caused several years of e-mail that had been stored on the computer to be erased.
I haven't had a chance to compare the quality of the HDTV picture with competing services yet, but there are many complaints about U-Verse picture quality from other customers.
The wait times for tech support can be quite long. The customer I heard from was on the phone with them for three hours, with no resolution.
If these sorts of problems are common with U-Verse, it's difficult to see how AT&T can operate the service profitably. Anyone considering getting U-Verse should be prepared for unreliable service.

A Blogger,
Seems that's true with any new technology. 'Be the first on your block'...is now a sucker's
game for sure. Like Windows Vista.
If you have business with records on XP then keep it until Vista is operational.

Now that the afterglow has dimmed sufficiently...
[Wall Street Fat Cats Are Trying to Pocket Billions in Bailout Cash]
...
"House Financial Service Committee Chairman Barney Frank is holding his own oversight hearing on the matter next week, having announced that "any use of the these funds for any purpose other than lending -- for bonuses, for severance pay, for dividends, for acquisitions of other institutions, etc. -- is a violation of the terms" of the bailout plan.
Banks are going to tell Congress that of course they won't use that $125 billion for bonuses -- it will go to shoring up balance sheets and for acquisitions just like they promised. And bonus money will come from earnings, as it always does.
If it sounds like accounting mumbo-jumbo, that's because it is. It doesn't matter where in the balance sheet capital comes from or goes, the point is there's more of it because of taxpayer redistribution in the wrong direction than there would have been otherwise, and that's not just. This begs the larger question: Why pay bonuses in a year of massive financial destruction, anyway?"
