Patronage marches on

We now know a Democratic president and Congress will control judicial appointments for the next four years.

Allah be praised.

There are three district judgeships in Arkansas right off the bat. I'm guessing that informal but very serious political process is already cranking up. Address your applications to Sens. Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln.

Nominations, anyone?

"Allah be praised"

A bit giddy this morning?

There are a lot of qualified people. Magistrate Judge Beth Deere (former law clerk to Judge Henry Woods) and Michael Barnes for the Eastern District positions come to mind.

Who's going to U.S. Attorney? Can we get Paula Casey to come back

Patronage? You ain't seen nothing yet...wait 'till the lottery commission comes up for discussion! A whole new state agency to create plentiful do-nothing employment opportunities & high paying jobs for the kinfolk of long time & term-limited legislators, hangers-on, ne'er do wells, etc. and their offspring. A whole new fleet of vehicles to keep the automobile dealers happy, printing contracts all over the place. All in the name of "scholarship opportunities for the children".

Well, mysteryshopper, at least they will be spreading that money around HERE in Arkansas, rather than neighboring states. Since people will play the lottery anyway, why not have them do it here?

Now if we can just get our county to change to wet...

I humbly and dutifully nominate myself.

Beth Deere, hands down favorite.

Eastern: Kristine Baker, Will Bond, Jane Duke (she ain't really a RePub), Tricia Harris, Leon Johnson, Ed Lowther, Price Marshall, Pat O'Brien, Brian Rosenthal, Ed Walker

Western: Robin Carroll, P.K. Holmes, Lance Lee, Rodney Moore
