Pressly parents on 'Today'

The report mentions that police have gathered DNA evidence that could point to a suspect. It also said video cameras at the Interstate 30 Shell station where slain KATV anchor Anne Pressly's credit card was used after her beating death apparently did not capture an image of the user of the card. The interview confirms what we've reported previously -- that Pressly was never regaind consciousness.

What strength!

I watched this morning. It was heartbreaking. I don't think I would have the strength to speak so positively so soon after something like this happened.

I'm curious about something, though. I read that America's Most Wanted is coming to town to film a segment. Which begs the question, if the police are ready to turn to the public for help, why haven't they done so yet? Or did I miss a press conference?

Ditto on that, durangokid.

Lt. Hastings (and the other LRPD spokespeople) continue to say that a "suspect" exists; they just don't know who that person is.

I'm pretty sure you only have a suspect when you know that person's identity.

What he means is a perpetrator, an assailant, a criminal exists.

This repeated misstatement continues to generate false stories of leads in the national and international media--media accustomed to literacy amongst spokespeople.

I've never liked Lt. Hastings--partly because he tried to dissuade me from making a FOIA request for crime statistics by telling me fulfilling it would cost me a couple thousand bucks, but when I went directly through the Records Division it cost me $2.50--and this again demonstrates his gross incompetence.
