In earnest I ask what influence does a majority leader have in either Ark House since at least a third of the majority party needs to be labeled Republican?

I wish Elliott was running for Senate against Lincoln. That way we could at least have one REAL Democrat in the Senate from Arkansas.

I'd love to see Joyce challenge Blank in 2010!

Well, since we finally got rid of Huckabee the urge to raise taxes has lessened quite a bit, but I see the Revenue and Tax committee will be pretty anti-tax and a bit populist - good.
Not much left but defense for the pro-life community without a new Supreme Court that we could only get by accident under Obama, but Public Health probably has a reliable majority for life (much to Malone's consternation, I'm sure).
State Agencies should be an interesting mix when it comes time to decide on constitutional amendments... Three conservatives plus Baker who leans that way but wants to play ball with the Brotherhood (which is certainly not liberal, but must remain nominally Democratic). Three big government types, at least. May be fun to watch.

Wish I was looking for a bidness break this session. They'll be handing them out for free in Insurance and Commerce. With Barbara Horn as chair and nothing but bidness cronies as members, you won't even have to take 'em to dinner. But if anybody cares, this is where consumers are going to take it on the chin.
