The gift that keeps on giving
That would be Sarah Palin, the female Mike Huckabee (and I'd take Janet in a waverunner match with the First Dude any day). Now that she's been whupped, insiders are really dishing the dirt. We posted yesterday about Newsweek's good stuff -- the "Wasilla Hillbillies" march through Neiman-Marcuses nationwide. But there's more and more and more.
A Fox News reporter -- yes, FOX! -- says Palin didn't know Africa was a continent. Be sure to check the video, with Fox reporter talking to O'Reilly.

I wonder if Palin can name the capital city of Africa? She thinks it a country, you know.

This is complete rubbish. This is McCain and his advisors trying to blame Palin for the loss. If anything she made the vote closer. Apparently McCain lied through his teeth when he said that he carefully vetted Palin before choosing her as his running mate. If anything this makes McCain look bad much more so than Palin.

I thought Max B had said that Obama was only using volunteers to canvass. Not quite true. Sort of like lying to Hillary about helping her to raise money to pay off her campaign debts. He's a slick one.

Obama campaign workers angry over unpaid wages

Former Obama workers claim they were short-changed
Indianapolis - Lines were long and tempers flared Wednesday not to vote but to get paid for canvassing for Barack Obama. Several hundred people are still waiting to get their pay for last-minute campaigning. Police were called to the Obama campaign office on North Meridian Street downtown to control the crowd.
The line was long and the crowd was angry at times.
"I want my money today! It's my money. I want it right now!" yelled one former campaign worker.
A former spokesman for the Obama campaign said 375 people were hired as part of the Vote Corps program and said people signed up to work three-hour shifts at a time. Three hours of canvassing got workers a $30 pre-paid Visa card.
The workers showed up to get their cards Wednesday morning at 10:00 am.
"There was a note on the door saying 1:00 pm and then at 1:20 pm everybody was like why is nobody here. They just got here and they're trying to get it organized," said Heather Richards, a former campaign worker.
The large gathering of around 375 people prompted police to call in extra officers and set up temporary barricades. The barricades helped keep the crowd from spilling out onto Meridian Street. Police say the several hundred people in line were for the most part orderly.
"No arrests. Some of the people were upset at first because the line wasn't moving as fast as they thought it should. But we really haven't had any problems," said Major Darryl Pierce, Metro Police.
Eventually people did start getting paid, but some said they were missing hours and told to fill in paperwork making their claim and that eventually they would get a check in the mail.
"Still that's not right. I'm disappointed. I'm glad for the president, but I'm disappointed in this system," said Diane Jefferson, temporary campaign worker.
"It should have been $480. It's $230," said Imani Sankofa.
"They gave us $10 an hour. So we added it. I added up all the hours so it was supposed to be at least $120. All I get is $90," said Charles Martin.
"I worked nine hours a day for 4 days and got paid half of what I should have earned," said Randall Waldon.
Some people weren't satisfied with filling out a claim form for money they felt was still due to them.
"They say that they gonna call you or they going to mail it to you, but I don't know. We'll see what happens," said Antron Grose.
"Talking about they'll mail it to us. I ain't worried about that, man. They're not going to mail nothin'," said Martin.

"This is complete rubbish. This is McCain and his advisors trying to blame Palin for the loss."
I don't agree, Severus. It's one of the first post-election skirmishes in what promises to be a very bloody internecine war in the Republican party. Staking everything in this election the fear and hatred (and ignorance) of red-state workers just didn't work this time around.
The pity is that the Republican party hasn't seen the handwriting on the wall. It's been there for some time now. Appealing to those visceral fears and hatred and to the ignorance of a dwindling pool of white, rural, born-again evangelical voters--to the, what did one of you all call it, the "red-meat" moral issues?--has ever-dwindling returns.
It does so because you can only use those "red-meat" issues for so long before folks grow weary of them and a bit more educated about them. Younger voters aren't biting, and the GOP has done little to build a new base beyond its traditional adherents.
So now we have a few white men in red-state country gnawing the bones of their victory over the gays two gays ago, while the rest of the country moves on--including many Republicans, who don't want to have anything more to do with Sarah and her supporters. Pyrrhic victory, those anti-gay initiatives, I'm beginning to think.
To win a battle, you've lost the war. Which makes the celebrating rather absurd, doesn't it?

This is so typical Republican. They always find someone to blame. They will claim America didn't reject their failed ideology, but instead was rejecting Palin. Who didn't see this coming?

But Eark, Palin is the embodiment of their failed ideology. I think it is actually a good sign that they recognize how wrong they were to go with a female conservative who was on the right side of the values issues without any regard for her intellect, knowledge of the world or her qualification to be VP. They've always thought that only the values and tax issues mattered and that only the "elites" cared about intelligence. They flaunt their redneck ideas and that's all that matters. Well, guess what folks, even a tax cutting, conservative now has to accept the fact that education and intelligence do matter and they matter more than their position on taxes, guns and morals. Bush never excelled in academics, neither did McCain nor Palin, and they all screwed up royally.

It's amazing that John McCain and his advisors didn't want to attack Obama regarding his extremist associations, yet they attack his own VP. I wouldn't be surprised if John McCain wasn't applying for a spot in the Obama cabinet.

Nah, CiCi, it's Sean who loves him some Sarah. His interviews were the closest things to sex I've seen on FOX. (Though O'Reilly's loofah lust was a close second.)
I have a feeling the Palin entertainment is just beginning. And I'm gleefully anticipating the next updates...shopping, towels, lust, the Rush/Palin camp feeding on the McSame Republicans/vice versa. An Obama presidency and now this...yippee!!!!

I agree with 'eark.' I think the Republicans are scapegoating to couch the loss as a failure of character in someone who found herself in a position of (some) power. In other words, they can say "Well, we always said 'character counts.' The selection of Palin represents a single, isolated instance of SOMEone [not me] simply making a mistake in character judgement. Our policies and perspectives are still sound."
Still, 'CiCi' is absolutely right that this circus SHOULD give them pause regarding their embrace of the "ain't no thinkin' thang" mindset. Probably won't, though. The justifying I tried to describe above is largely taking place subconsciously. Because one of the real problems with the Republican party is that so many of its members really ARE stupid.

A campaign shouldn't have to "tutor" a VP nominee on world geography or political principles central to the nominating party's platform. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever.

You go Severus! You and O'Reilly/Fox are proving the prediction that the mainstream GOP/Repubs/Cons/Neocons are falling on McCain and Palin as the reason for all their ills. Keep it up.
Bush is not unscathed either. Even Joe Scarborough, Bush apologist of the first stripe, this morning stated - I knew it was over with Bush during the Katrina aftermath . . . (paraphrased). I wish I knew how to transfer a tv program to YouTube. When "Cheetos and Dr Pepper in my underwear Joe" spouted this one @ 6:00 AM this morning, I blew coffee out my nose trying not to laugh.
Mika Brzezinski didn't even smile although she did turn away for a brief moment. She has to have the greatest "Stone Face" since Buster Keaton . . . and the patience of Job with Scarborough's addiction to the Rovian attack dog "interrupt at every breath" to tell the audience what the speaker means.

I read on another forum that there are several porno's in the works with Palin lookalikes.
Speculated there that this will doom her political aspirations since no one wants that hashed and re-hashed over and over if she runs on the national stage again.

No amount of back biting can hide the fact that McCain traded his integrity for the chance to be Commander in Chief. He allowed/invited the disaster that is Palin with no thought to the viability of government or the future of this society. Shame.

". . . MASKED AVENGERS: Gov. Palin, I love the documentary they made on your life. You know Hustler's Nailin' Paylin?
[Note: Nailin' Paylin is a pornographic movie.]
GOV. PALIN: Ohh, good, thank you, yes.
MASKED AVENGERS: That was really edgy.

The poor treatment of Palin is absolutely pathetic. She was minding her own business dealing with the issues of Alaska when the McCain camp dropped by and did a "thorough background check" of her in what 15 minutes. She and her family dropped everything to join the McCain team. I don't think Palin was actively campaigning for the VP slot. These advisors who have turned on Palin are scum. The fact that McCain has failed to repudiate his advisors in public is a travesty of justice. McCain stood up for Obama when the NC Republican party criticized Obama's link to Rev Wright and his "damn America" sermons. Yet, he hasn't stuck up for his VP.
Palin had a hectic schedule and performed admirably on the campaign trail. I'm certain that after spending 18 hours a day being "tutored" by McCain's advisors and with the exhaustive schedule of campaign appearances that she occasionally made gaffes similar to what Joseph BigMouth Biden and President elect Barry Obama have made.
I suppose it's not unlike the treatment that Joe Lieberman has received from the DemoncRAT party ever since Gore/Lieberman the loss in 2000.
