Who's up; who's down?

Brummett's holiday staple, a test of the winds of fortune, finds things looking up for, among others, Bill "Jackpot" Halter and Bobby Petrino (and that was before the LSU thriller). Down for the Mikes --Beebe for a variety of setbacks and Mike Huckabee. Why The Huckster?

This new book is petty and silly. He writes a whole chapter on how we need to stop being so left and right in our thinking and start thinking up and down. Your guess is as good as mine. His Fox TV show is horrid. The house band reeks.

"His Fox TV show is horrid. The house band reeks."

About the same thing I said last week. Glad the brum agrees with me.

I'm glad we'll have McDaniel as an alternative to Hotdog Halter. Just wish Beebe could jettison his obsessive cautiousness. Talented and popular, and yet Beebe ducks and tiptoes through every issue. He is wasting his administration.

I was surfing last weekend and came across the Huckster's show on Fox. Didn't think it was so bad, except for the awful band that closed the show that night. Found interesting Dan Rather's take on media coverage of the JFK assassination. Would probably watch the Huckster again if I could remember when he's on. There's much worse on TV: Nancy Grace comes to mind.

Have just been a victim of the Typepad-Strangelove-Grinch defect. It seems to be related to a cookie Typepad implants on your system. If your Norton, MacAfee, system maintenance system routinely deletes cookies to maintain security, you will feel the wrath. I recommend you immediately check your registration when you first visit the site. It may prevent repeated frustration. Back to the real post . . .

Don't forget the Liar-in-Chief, George W. Bush! He still has 52 days and three minutes till the end of his error and still has hopes of us forgetting the last eight years.

" . . . I'd like to be a president (known) as somebody who liberated 50 million people and helped achieve peace, . . . " Bush said in excerpts of a recent interview with his sister Doro Bush Koch released by the White House Friday.

". . . I would like to be a person remembered as a person who, first and foremost, did not sell his soul in order to accommodate the political process. I came to Washington with a set of values, and I'm leaving with the same set of values. . . ." Click for article

FOTFL! He does have 25.88 per cent of the US population that are dumb/deluded enough to believe him; that is 79 million. Maybe, if the remaining Bushites get busy and follow the Duggar model ? ? ? ?

Oh my doc. The Evil One is not thru with his mischief just yet. Now he wishes to impose his ignorant religious inclinations upon the entire hospital environment.

.............TAKE HEED and WRITE YOUR SENATOR AND CONGRESSMAN

"In his final hour, President Bush is trying to sneak in a last-minute regulation that Senator Hillary Clinton says would "threaten patients' rights, stand in the way of health care professionals and restrict access to critical health care services for those who need them most.

"Bush's new ruling under Health and Human Services (HHS) would allow health care organizations that receive federal funding to refuse to provide abortion or contraceptives based on "religious or moral grounds."

But employees are already protected against religious discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Rather than protect employees, this ruling would undermine health care facilities that are committed to providing patients with options.

The rule could nullify state laws that require hospitals to offer emergency contraception to rape victims. It would also allow pharmacy employees to refuse to fill prescriptions for contraceptives based solely on personal beliefs.

Clinton and Senator Patty Murray just introduced a bill to stop this ruling, the Protecting Patients and Health Care Act.

Just do it.
