Come on in my kitchen
Guitarist Delaney Bramlett ― whose own Delaney and Bonnie and Friends variously included Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Jimi Hendrix and George Harrison ― passed away Saturday, December 27, at the age of 69.
The Mississippi native reportedly died due to complications following gallbladder surgery at a Los Angeles hospital.
Bramlett first became popular in the '60s on the TV music series Shindig and then with his band Delaney and Bonnie and Friends, which featured Bramlett and then-wife Bonnie Lynn. The duo's backing band was populated throughout the years with the likes of Clapton, Hendrix, Allman and Harrison, among other famous friends.
Though a list of his collaborations could fill volumes, Bramlett's most legendary pairing was arguably with Clapton, who claimed it was Bramlett who gave him the courage to sing.

I know this is pretty lame but the urinals at Gregson Lodge at the U of A were marked Delaney Flushboy II on the silver part right in line with your eyes when you were allowing urine to escape from your body in a standing position (take that women!). And so several times a day I'd be in there staring at that logo while nature ran its course and I'd always think of Delaney & Bonnie. Somewhere else at the time had urinals with the word Halsey on top of the flusher and I'd always think of Admiral Halsey.
At times I think I think too much...at other times not near enough. Where is my dose of Ritalin please?

"Only you know and I know!" What memories......back in the day in Beantown at the Hatch Shell, peddlers EVERYWHERE, cops just strolled on...... "Tin soldiers and Nixon coming." The hippies made Nixon, what the hell did WE ever do to deserve Bush Lite?
Adios Delaney!
